i dont think enough people understand eddies relationship with his mother, because she undoubtedly does love her son. she just fucking sucks.

i think its a very easy and truly justifiable mistake to make, but helena diaz does not hate eddie, even with the way she acts, the way she diminishes his capability as a father consistently and wants to keep chris from the person best suited to raise him. its a very complicated dynamic, because she simply sees herself as right, like shes genuinely doing what she thinks is best for her son and grandson, not a choice out of malice, but an actual consideration of whats right.

that doesnt make it true though, she isnt right, not in any world. and yet nonetheless, its an impossible fight. eddie still loves his mother, even if hes entirely able to realize the fact she actively attempts to ruin his life by micromanaging it constantly. and all because when you have a mother like helena diaz, it leaves you helpless. shes incredibly sweet and caring when she wants to be, and means it too, she loves her kids dearly, and yet - does things that completely contradict their happiness and way of life.

its hard to explain even if you lived it, because this person whom you simultaneously love is genuinely one of the worst people you have, and will probably ever meet. with his father barely being in the picture too, his mother was who he had, she took care of him and gave him the love he lacked from his father, and still, she is absolutely awful.

its horrible, its so so horrible. but she doesnt hate him, she just sucks.

too busy to sleep because im crying over eddie oh my god my baby boo boo who hasnt realized hes gay. constantly feels broken, constantly feels like theres something wrong, and he just doesnt know what. im literally gonna throw up this is so sickening

eddie agreeing with buck that it wasnt his (bucks) business to ask about shannon, and then immediately divulging the information anyways is genuinely the most perfect example of how buck and eddie work.

buck doesnt press, he doesnt push on whats happening between shannon and eddie, and eddie takes that as an invitation because it clearly is still one, buck doesnt wanna outwardly say it though, lest it make eddie feel less inclined to share.

its also the reason for their fight in 8x17, buck keeps asking, he asks in ways hes never done before. hes not inviting the conversation between the two that typically occurs, hes so jumbled up in the words bobby told him, he forgets completely how the whole BuckandEddie thing works. eddie needs his partner, eddie needs the one person who can understand theres something wrong without forcefully pulling the words out of him, but buck wasnt necessarily thinking about eddie when he asked him about his grief levels and what not, he was thinking about bobby - what bobby would think about how hes 'taking care' of the others.

thats also why eddie is so unbelievably frustrated, worried for buck because hes clearly so caught up in his own mourning in a way that rather than acknowledges it, completely envelopes him as he (poorly) attempts to ignore it. that doesnt mean buck isnt genuinely worried for his other members, hes just not able of getting his head on straight to comprehend how the 118 oiled machine really functions.
