Forever going to think about that time I was talking about liking the purple man (Zebediah Killgrave, i think) as a villian and this guy goes "you know he's a rapist in the show :/" like??? Okay??

in every single one of his art pieces he is actively using people and then tossing them aside once he's gained enough attention from them/their cause. (see: the inhuman "statue" gallery, explicitly read by one of the cops as a pro-inhuman message but he's literally desecrating their corpses and he never returns to this subject ever again.) And all of this is honestly why i really like that we dont know shit about his backstory, because he could be just Any White Man Who Went To An Art School. I feel like thats where muse's strengths as a villain lay. So reading him as queer took me SO OFFGUARD. I think you could make that work maybe if you furthered the metaphor (white gays are still white and constantly putting down/dismissing/being racist to people of color, all while using their queerness as a shield from accountability). BUT IT WOULD TAKE SOME WORK ME THINKS. and also would require us knowing anything about muse's personal life which i think is a bad idea
my interpretation literally came from a lack of thought about the themes and techniques he represents BUT i think it's cool as shit that you're taking my dumbass take and spinning it to actually mean something really interesting because viewing him as queer could definitely both add and take from this interpretation. white queers literally have a tendency to hold the same regard for their existence as muse does (thinking they're In on oppression when really they're just taking advantage of it). if i were to stick with my idea of him having any kind of queerness he would have to be taking advantage of it

INTERESTING. My take on muse is that everything abt him and basically all of his actions serve as as allegory/metaphor for the way that white artists exploit and dismiss marginalized people (see: "I put those murals up to help people like you") without really caring about them or actually giving them a second thought. I think i agree with you that he thinks abt art all the time, but i also don't any of the art we see from him has much intent or meaning behind it than pure shock value and attention grabbing- he only makes things that look cool, he just talks a big game. hes those ppl they want their art to "make people think" but its just transparently the most overly edgy bullshit with no real grasp on any concept they MIGHT be trying to get across (going to send another ask <3)
wait. yes. omfg. thinking about this in terms of plot techniques that's part of what makes him a perfect rogue and/or foil for sam blindspot chung a minority and immigrant and vigilante. ALSO. that one painting he paints in blood is literally a metaphor for the general art atmosphere that's built upon the work of poc, a lot of whom have died as a result of their work or the minorities they represent but is consistently puppeted or represented by white people. muse literally plucking sam's eyes out when sam tries to stop him from doing What He Does literally removes him from being apart of his audience also being a metaphor for those who have spoken out how all the awful shit in art communities and the negative consequences they've gotten from doing so. it also puts muse in a position where he views the ability to see his art as a privilege (metaphor for all different kinds of demographic supremacy) and he literally forcefully takes that 'privilege' from sam by plucking his eyes out (therefore disabling him, literally placing him in a minority group he was not already inherently apart of)

he fr said these things back to back while holding a dog at gun point with confidence. be so real right now mike. and the fact that he spends his entire existence trying to prove these two sentences... and now his existence is still null because he was buried as his brother. the same identity he was trying to escape... fucking poetic. it SUCKS.

"Please don't go," he wants to say. His chest feels heavy and his eyes struggle to focus.
He's been alone so long and... and they're just going to leave him again.
What he says is, "I won't be there."
I keep thinking about Jason being the longest to stay in the trading business (black market, if you want to be real) thinking about how everyone eventually settles down, but he can't seem to still.
"Jay, we can't do this anymore. It isn't healthy for us and -"
"We have to. If we don't then we can't live anymore"
It's not a case of him putting everything into his work. It's a fact that he's always been running. He's never had home like the others, well not one he's managed to stay to. Jay's always fought to survive.
He'll stand alone against the bat if I just means he'll be able to survive out there. It's dog eats dog, hard to blame everyone for wanting to settle down when it's safer
