Am I the only one who's generally not as excited for Skirk? I think she's really cool as a character, yeah, design wise? Oof.. People can complain impact me all they want but I need to rant about this.
Cool. Another girl wearing a dress that just barely wraps the full way around her boobs. Like full on one good movement away from flashing someone. I dont care if those black straps are supposed to be holding the dress up, that's a really stupid outfit for her character to wear. It's essentially Escoffier again. Hell they actually have the same shape of outfit. There's a reason why I'm really picky with female characters from Hoyoverse and this is honestly kinda why. They try too hard to waifu-fy them rather than make them visually interesting, but I honestly don't think her NPC outfit was any better either.

I definitely kinda like the space theme on her arms and legs, even though I think the stockings being the space theme was kinda a copout (if she's also wearing just gloves too that's honestly even worse. Her skin itself fading into the starry and galaxy look would be better). It makes me think of Voyager from R1999 actually, and I love Voyagers design. But her design just doesn't look right to me. She doesn't scream warrior. She screams space princess. And that just really doesn't fit what she's meant to be.
I don't hate fan service designs. There's definitely a way to make fan service designs work for the character and not completely ruin the idea. Lisa I think is a good example. Her double slitted skirt that shows her legs and stockings and her low cut blouse is a fan service design that DOES work. Her character is flirtatious. It makes sense for it to be there. ..Skirk is a warrior. She trained a Fatui harbinger. She was in the abyss. Why are her boobs barely cupped in the fabric of her clothes. Why does she have so many open weak spots. The legs and chest are not great places to leave wide open. I don't fully care about armor, if she's good at what she does, she can ditch the armor, that's fine to me, but the super short dress cloak thing doesn't work.
I get it !! It's an anime themed game !! I should EXPECT fanservice! But that doesn't mean I'm not allowed to complain about it when the fanservice doesn't work. Its the same with Mavuika. Yes, I absolutely do think her design is fanservice adjacent too. I mean, come on, super exaggerated jiggle physics and a tight leather body suit that perfectly accentuates the gigantic hole that shows her boobs.. You can tell. It's obvious they literally even made her drip marketing accentuate her boob window. ..But she's meant to be an archon of war. Her design doesn't. scream. warrior. Neither of these characters make me think of a warrior. It's the good old trick of "People won't like our female characters if they aren't sexually appealing." And after characters like Arlecchino and Clorinde, who do manage to look really badass without all of the random fanservice (ignoring Clorindes random "make the boob section stand out by making it white" situation), it feels like an insult.
I like hot women as much as the next guy. I like hot men too. But when every single character and design just ends up being the same generic "sexy" cookie cutter design, then yeah, I don't care for it anymore.
At this rate I'm just hoping the next nation has designs that aren't ridiculously done. If I see a woman out here with a mini-skirt and a blouse that's barely even cupping her boobs I'm going to lose it. If the CRYO ARCHON gets this design I'm going to lose it. You don't have to sexualize really powerful women in order for them to sell well in your game. If they're good characters they'll sell just fine that way.

I hope not every character gets a song in Genshin. I noticed it with Xilonen, which kinda fit. I suppose Mavuika could get away with it. But now Skirk as well. I am seeing a pattern but I'm not sure if I like it.
.
#genshin#literally... it's like they learned from arlecchino's animated short that music videos make money and they just... keep trying to milk it#genshin confessions#genshin critical

It’s almost 1 am and I should be sleeping but GUYS.
GUYS.
GUYS.
I think I know who the Moon Sisters are now or at least who represents them.
SO OBVIOUSLY EI IS A MOON SISTER.
I feel like she kinda just has to be, because when you look at Ei has has a LOT of moon, dream, and nightmare references.
First of all her character teaser is fucking called nightmare
Then I find this on Twitter and I think it’s an old web event or an old trailer for something. And once again she’s positioned in front of a MOON and is referencing MOONLIGHT.
And then we have this scene where we see Ei in the Plane of Euthymia with a moon behind her and everyone was really confused when they first saw THAT.
And this Twitter user even points all this out, but looking at her constellation I realized something. I thought that this was just a reference to the Inazuma Vision Casing. But I think that the Inazuma Vision Casing is referencing the moon sisters!

Like look! Three circles overtop???? Like three moons??? Does anyone see it???
And when we look at the newest Event, we see what each moon is called. Eternal Moon, Iridescent Moon, and Frost Moon. There’s also New Moon but we’ll get to that.
Eternal Moon obvious references Ei because Ei is the goddess of eternity. And with Ei constantly being tied up with dreams, nightmares, and nighttime, it feels obvious to say that if Ei isn’t the actual Eternal Moon Sister, then she’s at least born from or around the Eternal Moon Goddess.
The Iridescent Moon references Arlecchino.
This also feels OBVIOUS. If you didn’t see the new event, the Iridescent Moon is said to have shattered and its crimson shadow sank into the abyss.
HMMMMMMMM.
Clever choice of words there HOYO.
So yeah, Arlecchino is tied to the Iridescent Moon. In particular, she’s tied to the Crimson Shadow of that Moon. Which still lines up with Ei, who is also a shadow.
Makoto’s Shadow.
But this isn’t the only thing Ei and Arlecchino have in common. They also have EYES in common. While Ei definitely has more eye imagery than Arlecchino does, there’s a lot of focus on her eyes in her trailer and THIS shot of a crazy looking eye.
And when I remembered this image, it reminded me of a completely DIFFERENT CANONICAL THING.
Fucking RONOVA.
Like obviously it’s not a complete match but you have to see the resemblance right??? The glaring red eye in the middle of darkness. Ronova looks so much like Arlecchino’s eye in her teaser.
And this seems like a really random thing I’m bringing up because WHY do Shades matter when we’re talking about MOON SISTERS. And the answer I have to that is I DONT KNOW BUT THEY’RE APPARENTLY CONNECTED BECAUSE
HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
WHO IS THAT????
I’ve heard a lot of people theorize this to be Isaroth, which makes sense to me??? Kinda??? I think a lot of people have attributed Isaroth to being the Shade of Time, which lines up with the Eternity thing Ei has going on. And then Ronova is the Shade of Death which lines up perfectly with Arlecchino.
But now I hear you saying, “March, there’s three moon sisters and four shades, that’s not the correct line up” and to that I say NU UH.
New Moon, the Welkin Moon, is our Fourth Moon Sister. She’s the Moon coming after all the other sisters have died, or changed.
So we have Four Shades: Life, Death, Time, and Space
And we have Four Moon Sisters: Eternal, Iridescent, Frost, and New.
And we don’t know anything about the New Moon yet because she’s the Welkin Moon, and we don’t know anything about the Welkin Moon other than the little icon. She kinda looks like Paimon to be which would be sick.
Now, we look at the Frost Moon.
And to that I say, we know who that’s gonna be. Yes, yes we do.
At first, I thought “Frost Moon? That’s the Tsarista 100%! Who else is such an important figure that’s frost/ice related?”
And to that I accidentally found my own answer. There is one cryo character who’s a woman, is crazy important to lore, and has either moon or eye imagery tied to her.
Skirk.
I’m calling it now, Skirk is gonna be our final Moon Sister. How do I know this? Because look at how she’s introduced.
First of all, look at the first pose. Sure, it’s not circular, but that looks like this broken sky imagery that could be kinda Moon-like. I can see that being a stretch though so let’s look at the second image. She’s turned the Narwhal into a sphere. But not just any sphere. AN. EYE.
CANONICALLY THAT WHALE TURNS INTO AN EYE. So we have broken sky imagery on a mostly white character design, looking very Moon-like to me, holding a FUCKING EYE.
Sure, she doesn’t have a shade tied to her, but we also don’t know anything about Skirk yet. We don’t know if she is or isn’t.
And this doesn’t even mention how leaks have stated Skirk will be a cryo DPS. Cryo. As in Frost.
Am I happy about Skirk being a Moon Sister (or possibly being one)? No, I wanted it to be the Tsarista because we know nothing about her and I’m frankly tired of waiting for her. I am gnawing at the bars of my enclosure, Hoyo please give us the Tsarista. Give us crumbs. Give us an ankle. I seriously have been waiting for this woman for so long and I’m not impressed with Skirk’s design so I kinda don’t care about her right now. I don’t find Skirk sexy, I find her a kinda mismatched amongst the Genshin character designs. Someone has said that Skirk looks like a Honkai 3rd character and I’m inclined to agree. I feel like if I saw Skirk as a new Valkyrie or however it’s spelt I’d like her a lot more. But in genshin, I just kind her very strange to look at.
However, it wouldn’t make sense for Arlecchino to be a Moon Sister if the Tsarista is one because that means two goddesses are Moon Sisters and then there’s just Arle.
The wording makes me think Tsarista more than Skirk, but since we have nothing for the Tsarista and Skirk is coming up AND Skirk has some of the qualities we’ve seen other characters tied to the Moon Sisters have, and this Moon Sisters event happening NOW instead of closer to Snezhyana— it just feels like a no brainer that it’s Skirk and not the Tsarista. Plus, if we wanna get technical, Snezhyana has its celestial body already: The Aurora Borealis.
“When the Frost Moon ceased to turn, nations faltered and fell into ruin.”
That reads to me very Tsarista but it could be referencing the fall of Khaneri’ah and the effect it had on all of Teyvat. That, in turn, leads back into the Skirk idea. So yeah.
Ei, Arlecchino, and Skirk. Moon Sisters.

"objectively physically attractive but in possession of negative rizz" is one of my favorite character concepts. i think it's so great when there's an absurdly hot person who's just a complete fucking loser. the mood is unsalvageable the moment they open their mouth kind of deal. you get no bitches because you're so sucks.

Hello everyone, anyone here want a Dainsleif theory? Because I think I just figured out about 2/3rds of what went down in the Cataclysm regarding Dainsleif
Specifically why the Abyss Sibling blames Dain for the Cataclysm, while Dain blames the Five Sinners
Now a lot of this hinges around the datamined volumes of the Pale Princess and the Six Pigmies so if you want to wait, spoilers below the cut:
Hello everyone who is still here.
So when the Pale Princess and the Six Pygmies came out, every theories I know was quick to say this was about the five sinners+ Dain and I agree, and what I’m going to do is fit that in with the new Dain lore we got in the wings.
This story starts with these paragraph in the Xbox wings:

This moment where the Abyss sibling is coming down and Dain is going up. Where they accidentally meet when Dain is trying to save his brother with the four other sinners is this moment from the six Pygmies:

Notice how they save Vedrfolnir first? The one Dain was trying to save?
Them then having to save the rest of the Pygmies has me suspicious that Dains rescue attempt did not go as smoothly as he had hoped.
Now what else happened? What was the noble deed? What is this paragraph all about?

Well, I think it’s this moment :

Now why did they do this? Before we get in to it, let me clear something up. The Prince of light is the abyss sibling in this allegory. They are the one from beyond the moon, who saves the kingdom, and is taking the Pale Princess with them. (Now why not the Traveler? Because the traveler is “Greatest foe who wields the sword that heralds the dawn” from the Night mothers prophecy at the end)
So now we know it’s the abyss sibling who’s getting betrayed here…the question is why? Didn’t they save them?
Well I think it has something to do with the abyss sibling and the traveler planning to leave eventually.
As we see from the Pygmies:

We know Khaenri’ah was obsessed with summoning a descender since the days of Perinheri. And now the abyss sibling want so leave, when they are the solution to this great problem.
And you know what Dain says about the sinners?
You know who just absorbed the abyss? The Abyss sibling.
And the Pygmies plans to use the prince :

The Shrunken Pygmy is probably Rhinedottir who used the power taken from the abyss sibling to make those abyssal monsters like Rifthounds that end up getting out of control (RIP Durin)
So the five sinners and Dain, because I’m sorry Dain you took some, the Six Pygmies is very clear that even if the disfigured Pygmy didn’t want to do so out of guilt, he didn’t stop it and seems to have agreed (since he gets cursed too)

Now you might be wondering, why? Did they think they were getting descender powers and instead got the abyss that got absorbed?
And I think the answer is yes. But not just yes, they thought they were getting descender powers. I think they actually did get descender powers.
Because isn’t it odd that only one of the siblings is a descender? And what does Dain call this power they stole from the “princes”/“abyss sibling”
Huh what could a world-shattering power be? Perhaps something to “rival an entire world”?
And as I said before, Khaenri’ah really, really wanted a descender.
So it seems like the six Pygmies (five sinners plus Dain) stole the abyss siblings descender powers for themselves…
And wait a second this sounds familiar…
The gnosis
Not to say they created the seven gnosis, but instead that they created six of their own, already corrupted with the abyss the abyss sibling had absorbed. But if we are comparing six parts to seven, should have been a fraction more powerful then those the gods wielded.
The arrogation of mankind cannot stand.
No wonder the Heavenly Principles called as many archons to Khaenri’ah as they could.
(I’m at the photo limit on this post so bear with me)
Dain is angry the sinners did not defend Khaenri’ah…and yet the sibling blames him for being unable to handle the problem by themselves. Why?
Let’s turn to the Raiden Shogun (specifically Ei’s) voice lines
“I'm fearful because of what I witnessed five hundred years ago — her demise and that thing. But, if... If it were you, everyone would be safe. You would've saved the world.”
The traveler would have saved the world huh?
Well of course, it should have been no problem for a descender…oh wait.
The five sinners (plus Dain) took the descenders powers.
No matter they should be able to defeat it if they all world together right?
But only Dain showed up.
This is why the sibling blames Dain for failing to stop it, Dain had a fraction of their powers and failed, proving those powers should never have been taken in the first place.
And why Dain blames the sinners, because if they had just worked together perhaps they could have stopped it.
But there’s still one more problem with this theory, the abyss sibling is recorded in Irminsul.
But you know what happens at the end of the Six Pygmies?
“Devastated, the pygmy wandered around in sorrow and regret. He hid the body in a tree hole and walked off alone into the night, and into a self-imposed exile.”
Dainsleif puts the body of the Abyss sibling in a tree.
Dainsleif, the Bough-keeper, put the Abyss sibling into Irminsul. He wrote them into the world. Why? Probably to bring them back in a way that allows them to still walk about Teyvat and cause trouble for us.
This also explains why Rukkhadevata was called back to tend to the tree and not sent to Khaenri’ah. What if the source of the corruption she had to make Nahida and erase herself to overcome, the forbidden knowledge’s heart…is the corrupted body of the abyss sibling that Dain wrote into the world?
(This might be why the Fatui want to burn Irminsul, a Homa cleansing ritual for the abyssal corruption written into it when it accepted the corrupted Abyss sibling).
Now we have come to the end of the theory and you might be wondering, but wait. This is leaving out one crucial character: if the abyss sibling is the light prince, the traveler is the Greatest Foe, and the Pygmies the sinners and Dain…aren’t we missing a few crucial characters?
And yes. We are.
Most likely, the Night mother is the Heavenly Principles. There is a chance she’s the Abyss itself. But i suspect she’s the heavenly principles what with the curse she puts on the Pale Princess’ people.
And there’s our main problems. Because the Pale Princess reveals something very crucial about this story:
We are missing a major player from the Cataclysm.
Who is she?
Easy answer? Probably Paimon. Or whoever Paimon was before she became small.
Other options: Angelica , either symbolically (the abyss sibling loved freedom above all else, hence the fear they would leave) or as I’ve theorized before Angelica herself could be an angel/envoy who went to Khaenri’ah once and is currently a “horse adeptus” from Moonlite bamboo forest (remember how the Pale Princess is from the Moonlite Forest?)
Fun option: somehow related to the Tsarista, aka a lover she lost in the Cataclysm. The Seele to her Bronya (if that is the direction they end up going with her).
Option that has many pieces I need to think on: Renova has a lot of motifs that look like Arlecchino and I’ve seen theories the Crimson Moon Dynasty worshiped the moon before realizing it was a god. That god might be the pale Princess (Renova or Istaroth) who despite not being worshiped was still around.
