Slept so hard [11 hours, insane dream sequences] that I woke up with a headache send help

Man why is writing so hard today? I literally sat down at my computer and typed for a solid hour and a half and it was utter garbage. But the more I looked at it the less I could figure out how to fix it! So I pulled up PS and decided to draw instead but every image just flew out of my head I couldn't do it and really I should be writing and man my eyes hurt. My whole face hurts kinda, actually, but my eyes really hurt and it's so hard to focus and it shouldn't be this hard and-- Jesus Christ it's 1am and I only got 3 hours of sleep last night.

So I’ve been waiting the whole semester to use my print money for assignments, but I had very few to print, so I decided to print rns since the money is only good for this semester and…

I had to get an attendant to refill the paper in the printer😭 It’s all 33 chapters!

anyways, I am very excited to have a physical copy to be able to read through (I hope that is okay. It’s for personal use only) and to annotate all the things I love about this story and why :)))

If Tanguish and Helsknight could play an instrument what would they play?

Random thought yes but I had the idea of Tanguish playing ether a flute or a fiddle (heh, get it? Cause he climbs on roofs?), for Helsknight something in a low tone but still be able to go into higher notes? Maybe? Like a cello or maybe a trombone or trumpet? '\/( • _•)\/'

Not gonna lie, after seeing @cursedthing's doodle of Helsknight playing piano, I can't get it out of my head. I think he would love how dramatic piano pieces can get, the range of motion required for playing more elaborate pieces. I agree Tanguish would have a lot of fun with a fiddle [heh love that reference] or a flute. Something nimble and dexterous and upbeat.

Update from Cosplay Anon: I spent part of today working on Tanguish's arms. Suffice to say I have desecrated a pair of navy blue opera gloves with glitter, sequins, buttons, and paint-markers. The glitter has been arranged into reptilianesque circles and the buttons have been layered together (a circle and a smaller heart) to make his claws have that distinct "click" sound. The other buttons and sequins will soon be sewn on to make the rest of his freckles. I even found some star shaped ones.

I am so incredibly excited about this cosplay thing. Cosplay is so wild to me. I've only ever done one and it was objectively very bad XD listening to your process has me fascinated!

heyy i am having Thoughts and you, beloved author, since u have ur asks open, get to hear them! woo 1. rotating ch4 in my head. “Why are you helping him?” Helsknight snapped, “Do you have any idea how rare it is that one of us wins?” 

ok helsknight, but what does happen when one of you win? How does it happen?? who has it happened with?? how does the universe react when something that wasnt really meant to exist manages to take all there is to take, and successfully kill something almost beloved to it, in its weird, eldritch, universe way? (And the universe said i love you because you are love etc.) (if that is what helsknight means?) 2. rotating tanguish and his origins in my brain even faster. it was always so interesting to me how different tanguish is from every other helsmet. he is absolutely a helsmet, twin appearance and parasitic connection and all, but he doesnt hate nearly as much. feel like tanguish, in a world of cruel, selfish, hateful brutes and very few meek fellas like himself (at least thats the impression i got on my first read? in the middle of my second, more thorough one atm) is the way that he is becuz almost everyone else formed not just from fear and insecurity, but hate and hurt. betrayal and desperate, spiteful last ditch efforts and hatred of- well if not others then yourself. even alongside fears, insecurities etc. all of them had hatred as one of their main components. tanguish wasnt made from hate, but from fear. hes meek and small and scared because hes born from tango's fear of being left behind, of being a burden etc. hes not born from self loathing (tho tango deffo has some) but from the fear of being abandoned, being left alone skye you are makign me so ill abt this lil guy /pos

I'm pretty sure Helsknight's version of "winning" is someone like Evil X, who doesn't worry about his hermit anymore because he's a permanent fixture. [And the universe said you are tolerated, and the universe said, for now, I will let you be.]

You're right! He really doesn't hate nearly so much. He wasn't made to, and its not beneficial for him to be! And if he's a parasite, he only wants what will help him -- and when did driving his hermit away ever help him? Fear however, has gotten him a lot of places.

how do you create helsmets? like, are they *opposites* or just personifications of negative traits?

A little bit of both! A little more of one in some and the other in the rest. [Wibble wobbles my hand back and forth] it's an art not a science I think!

Normally I start with two questions: What do I think makes most logical sense as a bad trait/fatal flaw? What do I think best matches that flaw that comes from the source.

So Fwhip/Flipside, since he's new.

Fwhip is a chaos-causer. A lot of his empires characters involve a strong personality built around a strong aesthetic, that then commits to a story and uses that story to stir the pot. As a goblin with his goblands, he spends his time digging beneath his friends' houses and stealing their stuff. When he's a prince(?) of the grimlands, he takes petty slights against him and amplifies them and throws them back on Jimmy and Sausage. On his single player worlds, he is building a kingdom, and he is deeply entrenched in the idea of making a cohesive world that makes sense.

As a character [on the whole], Fwhip's strongest traits are: Putting places to order, finding cohesion, and breaking cohesion [for the fun of it, to inform his previously established order and cohesion, to tell a story].

For Flipside, I decided making someone the complete opposite in a literal way [someone chaotic, who intentionally breaks or meddles in other people's story to rob them of stability, someone who prioritizes the individual] wouldn't be interesting. He would be a villain character, which wasn't what I needed. Instead I focused on what things a person who prioritizes order and story would fear, what would be a flaw? And I decided a flaw in that kind of person would be a deep need for security, and a tendency to build their personality off of that sense of security.

Flipside then, is a nervous character who is trying really hard to define himself, and so far has only gotten close by putting himself into the most stable and defined place in hels: The First Church. It's time consuming, it helps him run away from his listlessness and lack of identity, and it gives him a sense of purpose he desperately needs. As a helsmet, he is the personification of Fwhip's need for a story to feel "safe" in the worlds he's a part of, and reflects that Fwhip has a fear that he has no real sense of self or personality.

Meanwhile the one quick cameo of MythicalSausage basically amounted to: Sausage has an established evil character, that character is already a subversion of a lot of his personal character tropes [caring, secure in himself, selfless, kind], so I will keep his EvilSona as his helsmet. If I want to find [or build] depth into that, I can, but his basic building block is as he is now.

I don't think I've ever had a fanfic possess my muse so much before. I feel so compelled to make a Hels oc and it's becoming the go to daydream thought when I'm bored atm. RnS has taken over my creative thought process and I'm so grateful because it had kind of stagnated and I'm having a great time now. Kudos to the amazing characters and world building! I'm turning it around in my head all the time because it's all so very compelling

Make a hels OC! Show me your hels OC! Add to the population of critters in your head!

I have been thinking about making one too tbh. The idea of a little hels spazzcat with white fur and many blue eyes and a docked tail just scurrying around hels is fun to me. They are stealing books and reading them and screeching incoherently outside windows like a raccoon or fox in your garbage can.

my wife wrote a poem using a leech metaphor and I read it and told them they should read redstone & skulk (I have been trying to get them to read it for like a month+ now). it's a very good poem and I think that they would relate to tanguish so hard

Man, the Order of Remembrance probably really likes Lizzie's Ocean Queen musical. its an *entire play* dedicated to recording people and events, and depending on how dicey the fall of Empires 1 was it might actually be one of the accounts they have about what even happened there.

Oh I bet they adore that musical. What do you mean the events of an entire destroyed server are codified through a method not only made for memorization [musical, with rhyme and rhythm scheme] but also a method fun and joyful, where transformations of the work are encouraged to add legacy to history? I bet they have an archive of all the different ways it's been performed since it was written.

Hello. Im that anon that dreamed to be a knight as a child. not everything's gone to plan in my training arc, but I have started regularly exercising. even when I think Im going too far, I sit down on the floor and share a bottle of water with my younger self who proudly lifted their own bodyweight with little struggle, and my shoulders relax and my muscles stop throbbing, and I go at it again. I think about Helsknight when Im doing it, too. I'll show him the wuss goddamnit

What a beautiful thing you've created. maybe you never thought this would happen, that your words and your little guys would inspire people to work through their fears and to their inspirations. that one day there'll be some dude in armor who'll be thinking of you when they brandish their sword to show an excited kid who dreams to be a knight one day.

knights are fucking cool. you're fucking cool. I don't know if you hear this often, but thank you, for all your work has taught me, for all your kind words, for all your funny little quips, for all the serotonin, thank you.
