zael has been described as a blend between a surfer boy and rocker, tanned, freckled with a pleasant nonchalance about most things, and a darker rock influenced sense of fashion. he spent his youth as a roadie, on tour with his parents band, tuning guitars and polishing mic stands before he was able to write his name. he credits his early life freedom to his later life happiness. though he's not very book smart he's learned a lot of life's hard lessons and its granted him some wisdom.  

zael began surfing as a way to escape his childhood troubles, where all he had to think about were the waves. zael describes the ocean as his anchor, as his parents toured the coast and island hopped through his youth, often neglecting their only child in favor of clubs, drugs and free love he could always rely on the ocean and surfing to give him a sense of belonging and reminder of who he was.

zael spent most of his life around adults, making him more mature than others his age. he couldn't handle the immaturity in relationships with someone his own age and he couldn't handle the seriousness of relationships with someone older, leaving him in a cycle of dating someone his own age who he broke up with for being immature, dating someone older who broke up with him for not being ready for absolute commitment. until he found himself thirty five and single for six lonely years.
