thank you very much for those who followed, reblogged and who answered questions! the support is very much appreciated and i am really glad you are enjoying the questions and it has been amazing seeing your characters and stories!

i currently have questions queued up until the 1st of july, but i write 2-3 new questions for the queue every day so don't worry! thank you for helping to try and build some level of community between storytellers and trying to highlight others' work!

simblr story question of the day #5 - 17th june 2025 mini challenge - intro review

the 5th ssqotd question is a challenge - this time it's about other people's stories. can you write a mini review for another simblr's story intro?

find a simblr that is posting a sims story of some form on tumblr. it can be a typically 'written' story or a gameplay log etc! find the first post or chapter for their story. the catch? 1: it cannot be something you've read before and 2: the first post or chapter must have 30 notes or less at the time of you writing your review. it might take a bit of searching!

read the first chapter, or the first post / first few posts depending on your energy and the story type / length.

write 2-3 sentences about what you liked about the first chapter / first post / first few posts etc. only write about things you liked, and mention specifics ('the gameplay commentary / captions are so funny', 'i love the aesthetics of the screenshots', 'i really like the main character's design') you can write more if you like!

link back to the first post of that story!

the 4th ssqotd question is... can you give us some vague spoilers or hints for upcoming plot events of your story, with no context?

find some pictures, photos, text posts etc. that hint at something upcoming in your story, whether a plot point, character development arc or something else. it can be something big or small. you can pick as many or as little as you want!

an example of a spoiler image for a storyline with no context would be this one. i picked a popular film so enough people would know what the picture actually references in the film - but to those who don't / didn't know , it means nothing.

for clarity since it's a bit of a vague question: what other media (films, books, music, tv shows, comics, etc.) has given you inspiration for your story in a way that is visible in your story? (for example, a character from a TV show inspiring a character in your story, or a plot point taken from / inspired by something that happened in a book you like.)

the details + how it will work!

simblr story question of the day was inspired by a few things, mainly: • we miss the old sqotd people... • to give people who might be shy to talk about their projects a great excuse to talk about their stories and sims characters. i know some people feel like they are taking up space in a bad way - this is your space, take it up as much as you like! • get people to interact with each others' work in a meaningful way - yes, some of these will involve supporting other simmers too! • giving a chance for smaller simblrs to get viewers on their work

• there will be a new question every day at 8-9 pm GMT. they will run on queue or scheduling so that I can try and make sure there are questions every day even if i'm too busy to write them!

• this is aimed at all sims players who write sims stories, gameplay, legacies, etc. of any storytelling style so long as it involves the sims. if you have sims characters but no written story, or you don't post your gameplay, that's fine too! we'd like to know more about the sims story in your head / game if you're willing to share stuff about it!

• the posts will usually have multiple questions, you can pick and choose how many you answer + what level of detail you provide in the response. i will try to word questions as clearly as i can + provide explanations if i deem it needs clarification. some will be less relevant to you than others will.

• there will be 5 question types: - character - questions to answer about your character, or about your development process - inspiration - these will ask about certain things that have inspired the story, or they will be finding things that inspire you, like making moodboards or posting songs that remind you of the story etc. - plot - development process questions, 'spoilers with no context' and some reflective questions are likely - screenshot - about your screenshotting process, asking you to share a favourite and such - mini challenge - some of these will require talking about OTHER PEOPLE'S simblr stories, including mini reviews of first chapters or first story / gameplay posts, mini reviews of simblr stories you've read, writing about favourite simblr story characters etc. there will be some character related ones too hopefully - misc - anything that doesn't fit the above

• you are encouraged to interact with other people's answers either by reading what others have to say, commenting / writing in reblog tags, or reblogging

have fun doing this and remember you don't have to answer every single question, this is meant to be a fun and collaborative exercise!

questions for sims tumblr storytellers every day!

anyone who is telling a 'the sims' - based story, on or off of tumblr, using the sims games in some way or form, gameplay, challenge, legacy, prose - this blog is for you!

the details + how it will work - explains everything!

the questions will mostly run on queue / scheduling, and the queued / scheduled posts will be between 8 and 9 pm GMT.

• the questions will span various parts of the typical sims storytelling process, including characters, plot, inspiration and screenshots. not every question will be relevant to your project but i will do my best to make the questions as broad as i can for the most part!

• please tag all trigger warnings appropriately. any 18+ only questions will be tagged as #ssqotd 18+ and will have a warning! i am not responsible for the answers by others to any SSQOTD questions!

• you can copy the question + answer it on your blog linking back to the post, screencap the question + answer on your blog, or reblog + answer in a reblog-reply / in the tags! Tag this account if you want!
