We haven't had someone submit a Simcha in a while. So I'll post one of my own.
This past Sunday, we held an online Pride service, organized by all the Queer Jumblr community. It went really well and it was an amazing moment of standing together as a small but strong and close group 💜

I live Jewish meal-hosting culture. <3 I’m helping to coordinate some Shabbat meal-hosting this summer, and arranged for a friend to have Shabbat dinner with a family from Chabad. Afterwards the friend told me she had a good time and was so glad I arranged the meal because she wouldn’t have had the courage to talk to them otherwise. I’m delighted for all of us.
That is so cool! I also love the idea of being able to have people over, or to go to other people's houses for a meal. Food is definitely one of my love languages so being able to share a meal with people is a great bonding experience

I recently formed a chaburah (Jewish study group) with a couple of friends. We’ve only met twice so far, but it’s been an absolute joy both times. We all have different backgrounds/perspectives, but we click so well and it makes for wonderful discussion and collaborative study. I can’t wait to see what we get into next.
I love Jewish learning so, so much — and there’s truly nothing like finding the right study partners! <3
That sounds amazing! I hope one day I can dedicate more time to studying Judaism too. I hope you and your study partners have fun and learn a lot from each other

i have a friend who, upon hearing that i've officially started the process of converting, got so excited she squealed and hugged me so tight 🥺 (she's not the type to squeal normally), and when current events started getting so rough she reached out to me to check in and make sure i was doing okay 💙
also my partner has said on many many occasions that he would be delighted to come to shabbat services with me when he's in town, and he supports me and encourages me constantly throughout my conversion 🥺💙
That is so sweet!! We love supportive friends and partners 💜

I do some care giving for an elder in my community. She's in the hospital right now. But it's giving me such joy to hear about all the people showing up for her. Just. Judaism is community like this. I'm so thankful to see what we do as a family.
I agree. The Jewish community is amazing. And family would be a good way to describe it. Are we perfect? No. Do we all love each other so much and get along super well? Sadly no. But it's home, and even with our differences and disagreements we manage to always be there for each other when it's needed.
Also I hope she gets better. If you'd like it, I can say her name at Misheberach this Shabbat. Either comment or send another ask (I won't post it)

No post queued for today. But I'd like to share some personal simcha. One of my closest friends, who is converting at the same time as me, just got approved by our rabbi to go to Beit Din!! I'm super proud of her, I know she worked extremely hard, and how much this means to her.
Her Beit Din date is in 2 months! Almost there!

We haven't been having many submissions, which is understandable because times have been hard.
But still, from me to all of you, Shabbat Shalom. I hope your Shabbat is peaceful, restful and happy.

Jewish Joy will be when I get my hands on some bread and pasta as soon as Passover ends
Chametz my beloved. I totally get it. Soon, we're almost there. I hope everyone enjoys the return of the chametz

After being born Jewish but not raised it, in the past couple of years I've finally been able to practice Judaism. There isn't a synagogue here unfortunately, but I'm able to practice with other people and it feels amazing!
I'm so glad you still found a community, even if you don't have a synagogue. Hopefully you can visit some once in a while! If you'd like some help finding any near (or near-ish) you, I'm sure jumblr will be happy to help

We do not have a post queued for today. But that doesn't mean we can't still spread some happiness!
How was everyone's shabbat? What did you do? What are your favourite things to do during shabbat?

I saw all the posts about challah, and one of the best parts about making my own challah is being able to experiment with the different spice toppings! My personal favorite is rosemary, but its really fun to just open up the spice cabinet to see what your brain can come up with!
Haha we hear challah and immediately get happy and full of ideas!! I guess everyone has many new things to try after Pesach. Although I guess if you make you matzah by hand you can add toppings too
