So, serious question, did everyone just straight up forget how different things were when Hasbro bought Power Rangers? Because ya'll keep talking about this Playmates shit like ya did.

BRIAN GOLDNER WAS STILL ALIVE. The whole reason Hasbro bought Power Rangers was because him and Haim Saban were friends and Haim had realized he didn't want to keep running Saban Brands and wanted to move PR onto someone he could trust this time. And at the time, Goldner has designs on turning Hasbro into a media juggernaut, akin to a mini Disney, and Hasbro as a whole gave off the impression they wanted PR to be a big part of that. However, Goldner is now long gone (RiP) and his replacement, Chris Cocks, has been getting rid of most, if not all, of that media related stuff in order to weather the pandemic and please shareholders. Add all that to the fact that we've just now found out thanks to an earnings call that PR did not meet their target profits and it becomes pretty clear why this happened….

While Hasbro owns a lot of brands so many of us love because of our childhoods and markets themselves as a family company, right now they aren't, they're a money making company and Power Rangers wasn't making them enough money to be worth still doing. I truly hate that I'm typing yet another Power Ranger fandom related social media rant rn, but I am so sick of hearing "Well if Hasbro doesn't want to make PR Toys, why did they buy it in the first place?!" THEY DIDN'T BUY IT, THE PREVIOUS ADMINISTRATION DID AND THIS ONE DOESN'T CARE.
