Welcome to SJM Villain Week
We're thrilled to welcome you to the first SJM Villain Week. Taking place on October 1st - 7th 2024.
This event is to showcase your favorite, love to hate, villains from the maasverse.
For every story there is a hero, but for a hero to be born there must be a villainous force that drives them forward. During this event we will celebrate, create and share content for the evil minds that shape our beloved stories.
Of course, for any successful villainous takeover, there has to be a devious plan. And for this event to run as smoothly as it can, we have made a few rules to be followed as well as answered common question in this Rules/FAQ master post.
So that everyone knows who the ones taking over the spotlight are for this event, here is a masterlist of the villains in the Maasverse!
We hope you will come join us during October, for a week of unrepentant evil.

Not the “was Feyre right when she destroyed the Spring Court?” discourse again🙄
Is destroying a Court because you have a personal grudge against its High Lord wrong, even if he is a bad ruler in the first place?
Yes.
Yes it is.
Yes, even if he was in the wrong and acted like a terrible partner.
Yes, even if he was doing a shitty job as a High Lord, but specially because he was starting to rebuilt his Court, full of inocent civilians.
What you are doing is bending the most obvious and clearly drawn line of right and wrong. She is a High Lady, not a regular individual, she embodies the Night Court, therefore what she did was an atack from one Court to another, not just a harmless revenge on her exboyfriend.
You don’t think what she did was acceptable because you think her actions make sense and are fair, you think it’s okay because it was Feyre the one who did it. If Kallias took advantage of the way every subject Rhysand has (except for Velaris citizens) despise him to tear down his entire Court, burning down Velaris too, and leaving its citizens unprotected, because Rhysand murdered 100 children from his Court, would you be okay with that? Would you still think “yeah, it’s fine because he used Rhysand’s bad choices as a ruler against him, if the majority of his Court didn’t hate him already, Kallias wouldn’t have been able to do it in the first place. It’s Rhysand’s fault”? Would you be like “yeah, hundreds of thousands of people are going tu suffer the consequences, but you can’t really blame Kallias, he was just taking revenge for something Rhysand did in the first place”?
No, you wouldn’t, Feyre and Rhysand would still be the victims of that and they would be like “you could do this to us, but not to inocent people, etc. and you would be defending exacly the opposite thing you are defending now. Because when you say it was the right thing to do, you don’t say it because you consider the revenge appropiate or justifiable, you say it because it was Feyre herself the one who did it and you can’t accept sometimes your favs are wrong and they do fucked up shit.

idk if this was about my post or not but I cannot believe how many people actually jumped on board with my Rhysta post. I went in expecting major backlash and actually got works of art that I’ll cherish for the rest of my life instead.
Now I need ACOTAR completely rewritten to make Rhys grovel for Nesta. The weaver’s cottage? Yup, Rhys is going in for that ring. I can imagine Nesta grimacing at him in disgust when she sees his soot covered body.
Oh, they need the Book of Breathings? Guess Rhys is going for a swim. Like I desperately need ACOTAR-ACOWAR Nesta & (completely rewritten, I cannot stress this enough) Rhysand to get together.
Their potential is truly amazing. Same with Cassian & Feyre tbh.
I like we all (me) went insane when one single person made a post like "Rhysta kind of intrigues me" lmao.
Its consumed my whole weekend.

yuuuup.
I do think it’s kind of hilarious that this is the very first time Elain is mentioned by name in the first book:
Tumblr media
And it’s also one of her earliest speaking lines:
Tumblr media
And what does her mate do the very first time they meet?
Tumblr media
He gives her a new coat 😂

I’d be so cool with Feyre just simply being a mother & paint teacher if it wasn’t so heavily drilled into our brains in ACOMAF about how she despised the idea of being nothing more than some housewife. I just don’t understand why more Feyre stans aren’t scratching their heads over the sudden change
i think the thing that frustrates me the most about feyre's character post-acotar — hell, even post-acomaf — is that she stops being a character past that point in the series. acomaf, i can still see elements of feyre's original character, but i think acowar and beyond (especially acofas and acosf) is where her character devolves completely into something virtually unrecognizable. and this, in my opinion, is because once she and rhysand become established in their relationship, her entire characterization starts to revolve around him.
prior to acomaf/acowar, feyre has a personality independent of the relationships she has with other people. her characterization has its flaws, as the first book is flawed as a whole, but she's generally a decently-crafted character. feyre is an interesting character because, in the first portion of the book, we learn that she's a jaded, clever huntress who is willing to kill to survive and make painful decisions for the good of herself and her family. she's bitter, resentful, and miserable, and the crux of her life revolves around survival.
but then we learn new things. feyre loves painting, and if she had a choice, she'd marry off her sisters and live peacefully with her father, spending her days painting anything her heart could desire. she's capable and an able killer, but her dreams and wants are for a peaceful life. these desires are expanded upon later in the book when we learn that, if given the option, feyre wouldn't kill. she's jaded and can come off as someone who'd be a stereotypical "girlboss," badass killer. but in reality, feyre doesn't like bloodshed. she doesn't like killing, and if she had it her way, she'd never kill another living thing again.
this is interesting. acotar!feyre is actually a very interesting and dynamic character when compared to who she becomes in later books. she has an internal conflict that affects every aspect of who she is, and it is this conflict that is so deeply tied to what she's forced to do in the climax of the story: either kill innocent faeries or watch as the love of her life dies before her very eyes. this final trial is so painful because it's been established that, in a peaceful environment, a killer is not someone feyre wants to be, and a killer is instead what she's forced to become.
then, of course, acomaf happens and yada, yada, yada. she's still a relatively interesting character on her own, if (arguably) ooc, but has an independent characterization regardless. it's after this book where things take a turn for the worse.
in acowar, feyre is no longer the character who protects the "little guy" and would give up petty jewels to make sure a faerie can eat. she's no longer the character who acts based on her morals and inherent humanity, rather than faerie logic. instead, she's the character who destabilizes an entire court on the brink of war, uncaring of the consequences to the people of spring. in acofas, she's buying another goddamn house while people in velaris and beyond are struggling to make ends' meet following the war that she and rhys dragged them into. in acosf, she's doing the same fucking thing to nesta that destroyed and traumatized her a few books previous, and she's become the glorified housewife to rhysand. she's having his kid when she's not even 25 yet. she's being paraded around like some prized horse. she's sitting around, painting and decorating houses, while rhys does all the actual politicking. she's exactly what she feared she'd become in acomaf, and there's no consequence whatsoever.
this is not the feyre of acotar. this feyre is the faceless, empty love interest to the real main character: rhysand. she's a reflection of him. that's why she went from the woman who feels uncomfortable wearing fancy jewels to the woman who'd spend her newfound millions on frivolous lingerie rather than do anything meaningful with her position as high lady. that's why she went from the character who had respect and a new understanding of nesta in book 1, to the character that'd do such horrendous things to her in acosf. that's why she stands around and lets rhys and amren bully and degrade nesta. she's not a character anymore. she's just rhysand's mate.

it’s so funny when she says shit like that cause girly has been there for what? 6 months? She has no idea how powerful the other HL’s are 😭
literally Rhys: yeah, I could defeat Tamlin but it’d be a close fight.
THAT DOESNT GIVE OFF “Rhys is 100000x more powerful than any of these stupid ass, weak ass idiots” DOES IT?
I wish SJM showed us more of Rhys actually being some primordial being instead of making Feyre tell us because it just doesn’t sound correct at all. This is literally her like third day out here. She went from “Tamlin my High LordđŸ„°, my High Lord Tamlin 😍” to “Rhysand my High LordđŸ„°, my High Lord Rhysand 😍” so fast, I have a hard time believing her lmao
Tumblr media
I'm sorry Feyre but I wasn't the one writing he is the most powerful multiple times so it's kinda difficult for me to believe you , especially when your man hasn't killed a single baddie so far. And the other person you are talking about I remember he was the only one who killed Amarantha when all the HLs got their power. He was also the one who killed Rhys father alone, (the one who u probably also think was the most powerful highlord)

oh it’s over
Gone was the ill-suited black dress from the ball, replaced by a gown of amethyst velvet, her hair half-up and curling down to her waist. She glowed with good health.
Antis often dismiss Cassian's statement about how the Night Court's black drained the life out of Elain, questioning its significance. However, even Nesta acknowledged that the Night Court's black was ill-suited for her sister, observing that another color made her glow with good health—a color associated with another court.
The court her mate is heir to.
The sun personified. Powerful, lazy with grace, capable of kindness and wrath. Nearly as beautiful as Rhysand. And somehow—somehow colder than Kallias. His High Fae entourage was almost as large as ours, clad in similar robes of varying rich dyes—cobalt and crimson and amethyst—some with expertly kohl-lined eyes, all of them fit and gleaming with health.
And look, cobalt is one of them too. Elain has now worn two of these colors directly and if you want to argue, pink is a hue of crimson.

yes, I do tend to believe the author is leaving symbolic clues in their work and expects us to look deeper into everything. Sometimes the curtains are just blue and sometimes they’re a black dress in the night that drains the color from a girl that is said to need sunlight. Idk, sue me for thinking that means something I GUESSđŸ€·â€â™€ïž

ARE YOU KIDDINGGGG ME?? THIS IS SO GOOD
Did you just make me like Rhysand???? I might need some time to recover from this.
What’s your biggest controversial ACOTAR take?
Mine is that I think under completely different circumstances, Rhys & Nesta would be so hot together. In a way that can only truly work in fanfic, where the only thing happening is pure, outright smut that doesn’t really lead anywhere. Enemies banging it out? Sign me up😏
(it’s still fuck canon Rhys though 🙏)

@nestaarcheronweek | Day Seven: Free Day
It happened once in a dream.
And for the last day I asked my dear friend Libia to do this illustration of Nesta and Bryce (and I’m happy that she got on board with the idea), because, I don’t know about you, but I thought this must have happened at least once in House of Flame and Shadow 😌

“Tell me when you knew,” (Lucien) demanded, his knee pressing into mine. “That Rhysand was your mate. Tell me when you stopped loving Tamlin and started loving him instead.” I chose not to answer. “Was it going on before you even left?” I whipped my head to him, even if I could barely make out his features in the dark. “I never touched Rhysand like that until months later.” “You kissed Under the Mountain.” “I had as little choice in that as I did in the dancing.” “And yet this is the male you now love.”
And yet this is the male you now love.
And yet this is the male you now love.
And yet this is the male you now love.

In the words of Lucien in ACOWAR, "There is a longer story to be told it seems." One that I hope brings Tamlin peace, heroism, and love.
