A Kaka (forest parrot), however, apparently liked it very much on the terrace of my guesthouse. If you don't want to take the propeller plane from Invercargill, you can take the ferry from the coastal town of Bluff to the Foveaux Strait in one hour. It is known for being often stormy. In general it can be uncomfortable on Stewart Island, but during our visit there is nothing to suspect. But the clocks seem to beat a little slower.
