something i would’ve loved to have seen in either awtwb or sfc is a little more of a glimpse into simon’s grief. obviously, there’s so many complicated feelings for him surrounding the mage’s death (anger, betrayal, confusion) and it’s made even more so by the realisation at the end of awtwb.
simon said himself that the mage was the closest thing he had to anything, and while it’s so easy for everyone else to just feel the anger surrounding it, this is still someone simon admired, looked up to, held close as something resembling a parental figure, and as much as people can deny it, he did love him. for him to then find out that this man he always saw as a “father figure” was actually his father? i would’ve loved for rr to have explored that more.
simon’s such a complex character, and the grief he has surrounding this is even more so. an open conversation with baz would’ve been perfect, especially since baz can relate to the loss of a parent (despite the circumstances being quite different).
idk. i just kind of imagine that because everyone else went to anger, simon felt that was the only thing he was allowed to feel about it

thinking about the fact that the veil of the dead is only lowered every twenty years. will lucy and natasha return to find simon and baz? or will they finally be able to rest after davy's death? there are still nine years to go before that happens.
#i've been sentimental about them for the last few days#natasha returning once again and finding simon instead of baz even after twenty years#but this time baz only went to the bakery#will simon ever find out that he's lucy's rosebud#lot of questions#simon snow#baz pitch#snowbaz

(I shiver, remembering the greasy sheen of Snow’s fingers as he demonstrated his apparent natural talent for deep-throating.) (Ranks near the top of my most shameful wanks.)
—Baz, regrettably.
From chapter 3 of A Mild Case of Madness

since rainbow made it official that simon and baz are married, i like to wonder how it happened. we know baz likes family traditions and it wouldn't surprise me if he made sure they had a wedding with those things because simon obviously does his bidding. but i remembered a scene from the first book where penelope and baz comment on their parents' wedding rites, each having done something special and different. i wonder if baz made the world spin backwards for simon just like he said he would.
#having a lot of thoughts tonight#baz is so traditional it hurts me#thinking about them getting married and having a family brings me to my knees#baz pitch#simon snow#snowbaz

i can reread the simon snow trilogy several times and i'll always notice something new that's completely beautiful. the idea of two rivals who are destined to kill each other at first hides how similar they are. the parallels between simon and baz are everywhere and that's very beautiful. like the fact that we know from the start that simon is an orphan and this almost makes us forget that baz is too (practically), and just as simon knows nothing about who he is, where he came from or what he should be or do, baz, despite having his father, stepmother and aunt, also had to grow up alone without any clue as to how he should act and live as a wizard-vampire boy. like how lonely it was for them...
another parallel i love is the fact that baz has always known about his sexuality, but has never liked anyone other than simon, while simon has never thought about liking boys (it's not like they even have time for that either) so all the details of their relationship are new to both of them, that's what makes it so sweet, like, they're living their first time.
the other thing is that from the moment simon gives himself wings and a tail until the end of the trilogy, he and baz get into more internal battles about discovering and understanding who and what they are. the way they are there for each other, sympathetic to their eccentricities, with baz slowly losing his fear of touching on the subject of who he is and simon getting used to his wings in the end just makes me want to cry so much because they are so alike in their differences
#i just had a thought#oh my god how do i love talking about them#my precious boys#baz pitch#simon snow#snowbaz

it's something that has always been between the lines of the books but when we stop to think about the fact that simon and baz were just boys who lost their mothers at such a young age by "the hands" of the same man... that's crazy. it's really significant that they both came back and had their justice done after all. i hope they know they had the sweetest boys and that they found happiness and love in each other.

the simon snow trilogy official 2025 playlists for simon's birthday

so there is my gift to simon and u guys, a collection of playlists with each song perfectly thought out. most of the songs have lyrics that fit and others that i just put in because i wanted to. there are songs for lucy, penny, agatha and whoever you feel like. i also included songs that were mentioned in the books like "a horse with no name" and some of joni mitchell. there are songs that repeat between playlists too bc i thought that made sense.
carry on | wayward son | any way the wind blows | simon snow loser playlist | baz pitch emo playlist
hope you guys enjoy it !
#simon is getting old#it always makes me happy that baz seems to only listen to classical music but he is the most pathetic emo ever#he listens to MCR and says “only they understand me”#making simon's playlist i discovered that he is a rock and folk listener#he would have been a huge nirvana fan as a teenager if he had only had time for it#simon snow#baz pitch#snowbaz#carry on#happy p(r)i(de)tch
