I haven't had internet on my PC for over 3 weeks, so I've basically been using my dvd collection to entertain myself

I watched something i randomly got at the second hand market and struck gold

It's this BBC show called Jekyll and I'm obsessed with every single character, every actor is giving it 110% at all times!

There's plot twists, love prevailing above all, an actor doing a great job and playing two characters in the same body, lesbian Columbo and her pregnant wife, a man living the worst possible version of the Truman show, rich military assholes getting mowed down by one guy with a knife, the show immediately ruling out DID by making it clear the body experiences a physical change (a lot of these type of stories usually make DID look awful, so it's cool that they completely rejected it here)

While it's important to recognise that depictions of mental health and mental illness in video games are often dogshit, and a "sanity meter" flattens understanding of the impossibly complex issues of mental health into a single metric

We also have to acknowledge that sometimes you do just encounter shit that causes your sanity meter to decrease

it does kind of slaughter me a little bit every time i'm reminded of how near-universally associated slenderman is with the phrase "collect my pages" when the fundamental conceit of the game being referenced is that slenderman will hunt you down with murderous intent if you so much as go near his pages
