A break between sets is exactly what she needed. Rose was running on very little sleep now that her son had a double ear infection. It was an absolute must for her to sneak into the kitchen and grab a quick bite. As always, her favorite cook had set a plate aside for her and once it was handed off to Rose, the lounge singer moved toward her favorite spot out back. It was slightly chilly but the breeze hitting her cheeks was enough to wake her up. She was surprised that someone else was already there and so she took a spot a few feet away. “Ready for the big show tonight? I hear it’s going to be spectacular.” She plucked a hush puppy from the plate and bit into it. “but I’m slightly biased!” she offered her company a smile and held out the plate in her hand. “hush puppy?”  

THE CASINO WAS THE LAST PLACE that madeline wanted to fritter away her precious time; making small-talk with pretentious assholes in hope that they’d lose focus on their wallets. just for long enough for her to pocket them. alas, THE FRESH NIGHT AIR called melodically to her. excusing herself, she cut through the crowds to the back of the club; placing a cigarette between red lips. her bid for peace was CRUDELY INTERRUPTED by a female voice. madeline recognised her as one of the singers; unsurprisingly babbling on about something as trivial as a show. “i’m intrigued and enthused, to say the least.” madeline remarks warmly, lighting the cigarette between her lips AT LAST. “no, thank you. hush puppies might be your poison, but i’ll shy away. besides... isn’t it DIFFICULT to sing on a full stomach? no high notes in your set, i hope.”

SHE’S ALWAYS BEEN AN ANIMAL LOVER; and has absolutely no complaints being accosted by an adorable puppy. crouching down slightly, she begins to rub his ears playfully, grinning to herself. MAN’S BEST FRIENDS; and more loyal than any human being could possibly be. her thoughts are shattered by a familiar voice - one that holds more superiority than her own. “GOOD JOB that your better at delivering orders to humans than dogs.” madeline teases, a slightly flirty tone to her voice. she’s always been attracted to men and women in power; like A MOTH TO A FLAME. “maybe... you should invest in puppy training classes? just a suggestion.” she purses her lips.

tonight the bar was a lot slower than their usual, which left bethany enough time to mix up a new cocktail to pitch right for the holiday season. everybody loves themed drinks, alcoholic or not. “this is a candy cane martini.” bethany explained as she pressed chopped up candy canes on the rim. “give it a try and share your thoughts?” she poured two glasses, sliding over one and waited for the other’s opinion. it wasn’t unusual for bethany to be mixing up new things, it was a way for her to let the creativity flow, whether she thought of the drink herself or saw it online. DENYING ALCOHOL isn’t something that madeline is able to do - not tonight, at the very least. she nods a ‘thank you’ to the bartender and takes a sip of the festive concoction. the theme is PREMATURE, in her opinion. but the actual taste? NOT TOO BAD. madeline thinks for a second, tilting her head to the side. “it’s actually pretty good. but might i suggest something?” the blonde pauses, her fingers trailing lightly around the rim of the glass. “PEPPERMINT GIN. that’ll hit your festive nail on the head, right?”

madeline and her older brother were bought up with occasional tastes of the mob lifestyle. their were times when her father would disappear for days with no explanation but a gift. a fur coat here, a pair of diamond earrings there. the deeper he got involved, the more presents came through the front door.

academically, madeline excelled. she wasn’t just intelligent, but intuitive. she could read people well. she graduated top of her class in high school, with a startling lack of friends. she preferred her own company; a lone wolf. friendships were of little interest to her

graduating from nyu with a major in psychology, madeline moved back home. she began to unravel her truth about the mafia and her family - and it took over her life. she became obsessed. 

madeline began to eat, sleep and breath weaponry. she knew that she wanted in to this underground world and to expand her father’s corrupt legacy. with a foot in the door, madeline barged right into the bardet crime family, all guns blazing. NO PUN INTENDED.

now five years into her role, madeline knows how the crime family functions like a finely tuned machine. she’s respected in the family and enjoys the way the hierarchy falls. after all, whats a crime family without their weapons?

although madeline doesn’t long for friendships, she knows the importance of keeping up appearances. she has a magnetic charm that lures people in to trust in her, confide in her... and then proceeds to use these secrets as blackmail. yeet.
