FC Bayern Munich defends the lead in the table
With a 4:2 win, FC Bayern Munich got three points at VfL Wolfsburg. Beforehand, everyone agreed that the winner could only be FC Bayern Munich. The course of the 90 minutes finally confirmed this impression. FCB had the upper hand in the first leg and won 2-0.
The top of the table started like a fire brigade and made people sit up and take notice with a double strike from Kingsley Coman (9th/14th). With Thomas Müller making it 3-0, the game seemed to have a sure winner in the 19th minute with the guest. Defeat was not to the liking of Niko Kovac, who brought on Jakub Kaminski for Maxence Lacroix in the first half (30').
The lively goal-scoring in front of 30,000 spectators continued with Kaminski's goal to make it 3-1 in the 44th minute. It was the guests who called a tour their own at the break. Bayern fell behind numerically in the 54th minute when Joshua Kimmich left the field prematurely with the traffic light card. Julian Nagelsmann relied on new staff and brought on Josip Stanisic and Mathys Tel with a double substitution (60').
Niko Kovac wanted to move VfL to a jolt and so Kevin Paredes and Omar Marmoush came on as substitutes for Paulo Otavio Rosa da Silva and Patrick Wimmer (66'). Jamal Musiala brought FC Bayern Munich into calm waters by scoring 4-1 (73rd). Shortly before the end of the game, Mattias Svanberg was there and was responsible for Wolfsburg's second goal (81'). Despite being outnumbered, FCB was more successful in the opponent's penalty area than the hosts in the 90 minutes and thus clinched a win.
Despite the defeat, VfL Wolfsburg is still seventh in the table. VfL recorded a total of eight wins, five draws and six defeats. The situation at Wolfsburg remains tense. They suffered their second defeat in a row against Bayern.

Für hohen Unterhaltungswert war in den bisherigen Spielen des FCB stets gesorgt, mehr Tore als die Bayern (56) markierte nämlich niemand in der Bundesliga. Seit zwölf Partien ist es keiner Mannschaft mehr gelungen, den FC Bayern München zu besiegen.
Am kommenden Freitag tritt der VfL Wolfsburg beim FC Schalke 04 an, während der FCB einen Tag später den VfL Bochum 1848 empfängt.
