RMB Bridgerton book spoilers!

The thing that I truly hope Shondaland and Netflix understand about the carriage scene is that it’s not JUST the part explicitly in the carriage. It’s the whole lead up of Colin following Pen, discovering she’s LW which all comes to a head in the carriage. Any other justification for spicy times in a carriage is just that and would not make it ✨the carriage scene✨, you know?

My favorite thing about the bridgerton promo is how excited the actors are when talking about their characters and the season and filming to just how awkward and stilted they are when they are very clearly being forced to promote the weirdly invasive amount of merch/capitalist hellscape collaborations 😂

I realize I'm in the minority regarding fellow polin fans views on Lord Debling. But like- 🫠

There is this immediate desire from certain people to want to villainize him simply for existing as a secondary love interest for the season. I've seen this happen in other fandoms and honestly it's quite ugly. You don't have to like this character. Nor is he any true threat. Everyone and their dog is aware he only exists to provide drama and friction as Colin and Penelope get together.

But what spurred this commentary is how people reacted yesterday to the little bit of context we got on his character. People are acting like this is a huge gotcha moment. And honestly I think y'all are reaching. You're looking for an excuse to hate this man - simply for seeing something worth pursuing when it comes to Penelope.

No one is saying that you aren't entitled to your opinion. This is fandom and we're all having fun at the end of the day. But if you think yesterday's little tidbit on his character and why he's looking for a wife is going to be the reason he is a villain. Well, imo, you are trying too hard.

We learned yesterday that he is specifically looking for a wife because he wants someone to manage his estate while he goes and travels. He's reached a point in his life where he needs a wife to manage the burden of keeping multiple homes, and eventually to provide an heir.

..... So, you mean the exact thing Anthony wanted to do last season?

To clarify my stance, since those in my replies seem to be doing the utmost to twist my words, I DO think that the Met Gala is a phenomenal nod to the intersection of historical fashion and fame while also being superfluous show of wealth. I DO NOT condemn those who chose to attend because the Met Gala has also, while receiving valid critiques over the many years, largely been an event where the general population could indulge in a sense of escapism and appreciation of (gasp) fashion.

This year, it just so happened to be twisted even further by a genocidal regime using it to mask especially atrocious actions, but I recognize that there are attendees who may not have been connected to that news until later in the evening while the event was already in full swing, like I was, or otherwise did not have the chance to FULLY process, consider, or become informed on what was happening or the further implications of attending.

I also do not think, nor did I mean to imply that Nicola does. I was merely making an observation and educated guess based on previous choices and activism we’ve seen from her.

ALSO, it goes without saying, if you’re being racist trash in my replies, I will ✨block you✨

I truly think that Nicola, being the very public advocate that she is for Gaza, made a last minute but conscious decision to abstain from the Met Gala this year and that potentially Luke did the same in support, but the reason she hasn’t said anything publicly about it is to avoid the potential media twist of making it seem like she’s disparaging her Bridgerton costars who did choose to attend. That would definitely explain why both of them were seen in New York and reported to be attending but didn’t actually appear on the red carpet. I haven’t followed up, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see afterparty pics though.

100% respect to the delicate position, especially with the current press circuit and also just how… intense? Certain subsections of the fan base can be (for all the cast, not just those who did or did not attend the Met in this particular instance).

Either way, no (harsher than necessary) judgement

Listen, I don’t take stock in rumors, but the one that really has me mega confused is that, supposedly, Colin doesn’t find out about LW until after they’re married?

What about the carriage scene?

That’s the whole point of the carriage scene???

Like, it’s not just the spicy bits, it’s literally the entire build up of him following her, discovering the LW draft, and the fallout of the that LEADING TO the carriage??????

Not gonna lie, people being pressed about Netflix not following the “canon” order of Bridgerton romances for the show but also saying that we should meet Sophie this season and have Benedict’s story be season 4 even though the “canon” is that he spends literally years searching for her after initially meeting her get on my storytelling nerves a bit. If integrating as much book canon as possible is soooooooo important, it would make the most sense in the tv universe to have them meet in season 3, allow season four to be someone else with a Benedict subplot of trying to find her, then have Ben be the main romance of season 5.

Anyway, fandom really does like to pick and choose when it comes to storytelling and I’ve been seeing multiple posts in the last few weeks being like “Ben and Sophie will meet this season so Ben MUST be season 4!” As if we haven’t been getting glimpses of Philip since season 1 🙄

Usually I think it’s just silly, but today I’m weirdly irritable about it, and I’m going to make it everyone’s problem~

I’ve written more for Penedict fanfiction in the last month than I have in the last few years for any fandom.

What a spiral it has been, these are MY babies now and it could have all been avoided if they’d just released season 3 in a reasonable time frame, lol

Moderately warm take, but I hesitate to think that these two images —

— are from the same scene like they’re spliced together to imply. The reason being that Penelope has warm lighting on one side and cool lighting on the other. Meanwhile, Colin does not have even a sliver of cool lighting. If we’re presuming that at least one of the images (likely Pen) is a clip from the carriage scene, then we could also assume that would be an intimate enough space that the lighting wouldn’t be so drastically different.

I could, of course, be very wrong, but ya girl does an insane amount of color correcting and that’s one of the first things I would have noticed if I were meshing two images together~

Todays leaks remind everyone that even the strongest American/european bridgerton fan can’t compare to the average latam bridgerton fan. Fly high to whichever intern is surely gonna get fired after this 🕊️🕊️🕊️

In all actuality, the “leaks” are probably quite purposeful (seriously, the amount of times it’s happened CANNOT be a coincidence), but I like to think there’s a rogue Netflix employee that they’ve been trying to catch for months that’s wreaking havoc on their footage security and leaking stuff like a regency romance Robin Hood

(If possible stickers that make it look like they are part of the actual cover. Not bees or flowers 😅)
