A/N: grades dropped today so i have officially finished my first year of law school WOOO. i had a long process of moving back home for the summer and working at a new summer law job i got BUT things have settled down so i am finally sitting down and finishing this route! I’ve finally outlined the rest of the series so now to write/edit it all out! i am aiming to finish this route before i go back to school in late august hehe

“Sero?” You called out from the first floor of the office. Sero had just abruptly left the chatroom after wanting to talk to you, leaving you, Bakugou, and Kaminari, who were still in the chatroom, confused.

Sero emerged from the second floor, descending downstairs. He stopped at the foot of the stairs, looking at you so intently that you stood up from your makeshift bed on your couch.

“Why did you defend me in there?” Sero asked calmly.

You blinked a few times in confusion before letting out a dazed, “What?”

“I said why did you defend me in there? In the chatroom?” Sero repeated, taking a few steps towards you as he spoke. “Bakugou and Kaminari had every right to be upset with me for not telling them about the break in.”

“Well I said it in the chatroom, didn’t I? You’re the reason why I’m safe, Sero,” you reiterated.

Sero let out a breathless laugh, looking at you, baffled. “I don’t get you, Y/N. I’ve been mean to you and I’ve been pushing you away and you’re still giving me kindness that I don’t deserve.”

You laughed, shaking your head. “You do deserve kindness, Sero. You can’t say that when you’ve been protecting everyone at M.F.A. with your security systems in the app and in person and protecting me and the office without asking for anything in return. That isn’t a person who doesn’t deserve kindness.”

You paused. “Plus I could tell you were pushing me away on purpose. That’s why I kept pestering you… Sorry if it was annoying.”

Sero laughed this time. “I don’t think you could ever be annoying. Not when you can read me like a book when we haven’t even known each other that long.”

You smiled, happy that Sero was finally laughing. It was probably the first time his face lit up in the past two nights. “You can stop punishing yourself now, Sero. You didn’t do anything to warrant punishment.”

Sero was once again amazed and baffled by you. How could you be so understanding? How could you not blame him after almost getting kidnapped? You only knew Sero for almost a week; how could you be so forgiving?

Sero didn’t realize that when he was caught up in his thoughts, his eyes began to tear up. As he began to attempt to blink them away before you could see, it was too late. Taking notice of the tears, you reached up and enveloped him in your embrace. Sero finally relaxed for the first time since the break in. 

You felt so warm and he melted in your arms, wrapping his own arms around you.
