TS2 Default: Apartment Life Tech fences

Never, in the history of ever, have I used these...tech fences? Why the tear-drops? Why stained glass? Why so tall? Why these color combinations?? It's an aesthetic I'm baffled by.

I made a default mesh edit for myself, but I realized some other folks might enjoy this fix too! Details & link below the cut.

I shortened the fences to a sensible handrail height, I cleared away the teardrops, and I added a floor edge hider so you can have clean-looking balconies.

If you put them on the ground the floor edge hider will sink and not be visible beyond a small strip.

This is a mesh-only fix so it'll still use the same textures as the original fence (black, steel, and white). I think this mesh edit makes the fence 1000% more usable for a variety of building styles now that it's not so...zany.

Curious Chemistry: Happy 20th Birthday, Sims 2!

Can you believe that our beloved Sims 2 is 20 years old today?! To celebrate - and to show that there's always something new to learn about this daft old game, even after all these years - I'm sharing my first ever venture into BHAV modding. Behold: my own take on a replacement for the Maxis Turn Ons/Offs (TOs), and a complementary mod to adjust the Chemistry calculation between Sims. This is quite specific to the requirements for my own game, but I thought there could be others out there who might also like to give it a whirl...

My new TOs - and their criteria - are shown in the table below (click to enlarge).

(GSOH = Good Sense of Humour; NSOH = No Sense of Humour.) In short, it's an amalgamation of a selection of ideas from other people's versions of this mod, with some of my own thrown in too. It takes into account Personality, Interests, Skills, Talent Badges, Hobby Enthusiasm and 3t2 Traits, as well as various aspects of life experience (Reputation, Vacations, Pet Friends, Life Skills, Supernatural identity, wealth, academic/career success, etc.). Maxis Fitness/Fatness and natural hair colour TOs have NOT been replaced. All other TOs have been replaced with either an expansion of the Maxis default (e.g. Athletic, Charismatic, Creative), a re-imagining of an original Maxis concept (e.g. Academic, Ambitious, Fastidious), or with something entirely new (e.g. Alien, Geeky, Sociable).

I don't really play Supernaturals myself, so Vampire/Werewolf Witch/Zombie have been lumped into one TO (Supernatural); Plantsim and Servo have been subsumed into other TOs (Naturalist and Unconventional, respectively). So, if you're a fan of Supernatural Sims, this might not be for you.

Most Icons have also been replaced with TS4 Icons or my own customisations of these.

Some notes on the criteria for particular TOs:

Thresholds for Personality points are 2 (or lower) or 8 (or higher)

The threshold for Interests is 9 (I didn't want these triggered too easily)

The threshold for Hobbies or Skills is 7.5; for Hidden Skills (Dance, Meditation, Tai Chi) the threshold is slightly lower at 7

Where a Hobby features as a criterion, this is the current Enthusiasm level, NOT the Predestined Hobby

The threshold for Talent Badges is Silver

The thresholds for Reputation are + (Good) or - (Bad) 60

Ambitious, Disciplined, Perfectionist or Workaholic Sims will NOT trigger my Unemployed replacement (Lackadaisical), no matter what other attributes they might have; Young Adults and OFB business owners also will not trigger the unemployed criterion

Other criteria (Career/Owned Business, GPA/School Grade, etc.) are given in the table

My version will still work without the original 3t2 Traits, but you won't be getting the full benefit. It also makes use of @anachronisims's Traits Expansion and @tammyhybrid21's Alien Trait.

This will CONFLICT with any other mod that replaces the Maxis TOs, such as those by:

Two more IMPORTANT things:

REQUIRES Easy Inventory Check - please get this if you don't have it yet.

If you'd like to re-assign your Sims' TOs after installing my (or anyone else's) TOs replacement, then I suggest using @pforestsims buyable ReNuYu Potion.

To complement the TO replacements, there is a companion mod that adjusts the Chemistry calculation between Sims.

It's not essential, but recommended, as otherwise you might find that the TOs trigger too easily, especially if you have a mod that allows Secondary Aspiration to be taken into account when determining Chemistry (such as @midgethetree's Romantic Standards).

This mod changes the Attraction/Repulsion between different Aspirations, as shown in the table.

Grilled Cheese Sims have the same extra attraction bonus towards each other as set by Maxis.

I particularly didn't like the Maxis Family/Knowledge mutual attraction - why would a Sim that is focused on self-improvement be attracted to a Sim that is likely to distract them from this in order to spend quality family time? And vice versa: the Family Sim could get resentful of the amount of 'me-time' that the Knowledge Sim needs; plus Knowledge Sims often have risky Wants, not compatible with a cosy family life! Personally, I think that Romance/Knowledge makes more sense, as the Romance Sim would make far fewer demands on the Knowledge Sim's precious study time. And the Knowledge Sim is likely to be open-minded about not fulfilling all the Romance Sim's relationship needs.

So, if you're particularly attached to your Family/Knowledge pairings, this might not be ideal for you.

This mod also REDUCES the contribution of Aspiration/Zodiac to the calculation, and gives the other attributes more weight.

However, it incorporates the compatibility adjustments of @dreadpirate's TS2 Zodiac Compatibility Overhaul.

Maxis attraction bonuses (e.g. Beauty Wish or Vacation bonuses) are unaffected, as is the attraction boost for the 'Irresistible' 3t2 Trait provided by @midgethetree's Romantic Standards.

If the flavour of my Chemistry mod is not to your liking, I'd recommend an alternative, such as those by:

My mod will CONFLICT with these, and any other mods that alter the Attraction Constants and/or Attraction Tuning BCONs.

I also created a variant that eliminates Zodiac from the calculation altogether (but still allows Aspiration to make a reduced contribution). I haven't tested this in my game, as I decided it wasn't quite what I wanted, but if anyone wants to give it a try, then let me know and I'll gladly share it. 😊

[ts2] 4t2 max20's comfy corner sofa - redux 🦉

I really wanted more recolors of this sofa, even though it was a little tedious to recolor. But I got there. I also added another subset so you now can mix & match the pillows with the sofa fabric (don't know why I didn't do that earlier 🫠) The sofa has new guids so if you download this you need to remove any previous recolors & mesh, ofcourse. Sims 2 Turn ons Replacement mod - Download / Alt

So I decided to torture myself make my own version of a turn-on replacement because I really liked what both Episim and PForestsims offered and wished to fuse them plus add some new turn-ons that felt like they reflected Aspirations and encourage me to use more of the game features that I felt I wasn't using enough.

I used Episim's own mod as my base and made the changes from there.

What got carried over:

Simler90's speech bubble turn-ons fix.

Simler90's rich and poor calculator checks.

Simler90's fixes for the TO that EAxis missed fixing.

Episim's cologne turn-on stops triggering and flower effects are removed.

Episim's Hard Worker TO edits.

Alien trait from @tammyhybrid21 that Episim used, left in.

Some of PForestsim's own turn-ons (but with slight edit changes).

Included PForestsim's Only TO Chemistry mod, read more about it on their post.

What are the changes:

New Icons + my own mashup (from The sims 4).

New string names.

Everything but the facial hair turn-on got replaced. It was the only one that I wanted to keep.

Changed the values of skills, hobbies, personality, interest and reputation.

Vampires and active (transforming in the night) Werewolf won't get eye colour TO triggers.

Servo and Plantsims won't get either hair or eye colour TO triggers.

Plantsim will, however, default to green eye colour only.

Required mods:

You need 3t2 Trait and RCC for this mod to work. Unless you pick the trait only version, which in that case you'll only need 3t2 traits.

Recommended:

If you use Lamare's LTW mod and have the lamare_LTW_Robots package file, I suggest using my edit that redirects the servo check to where I placed it in my mod.

Translation:

So far, only english & brazilian portuguese translations are available. Even tho my family comes from Brazil, I'm still learning the language so any issues please tell me. I'm also open for anyone that would like to give me their translated version so that I can add it to the mod.

Conflicts:

With any other turn-on replacement mod. Pick only one.

With Tunaisafish’s Attraction Fix (Simler90 already fixed these issues, there is no need for this mod).

With any UI mod out there, just have this mod load after the UI mod and you'll avoid TO icons being replaced with the default Sims 2 icons.

With any cologne/perfume mod that turns off the TO trigger or removes the flower effect (Mods like Midgethetree's Zombie Controller works just fine with this mod)
