i dont even think i talked much abt this when i did do it bc i was still nervous on being associated with mcyt fandom in 2021 BUT listen. the expirience of trying to become a mcyt streamer. it was interesting to look back and see why i didnt do it, and to realize during that period how hard it is to get started

this kinda applies to streaming in general. but in like 2021 or so when i made my website i was rebranding to Something. mascot, clean website, throwing away any anything that risked an audience i didnt want (dropped lots of mature stuff). "safe". if i wanted to get into streaming and mcyt? i should probably do that, especially with the hermitcraft enjoyment i had, and admittedly... that dream of getting anywhere close to them.

i had friends streaming at the time too, in a smaller stream group, but i didnt really associate with them because it wasnt my "style" and in a bubble that felt limiting. and so, i needed to figure out how to connect myself with others. and boy, thats no easy. the idea: i cant sit around and just wait for viewers. i need to make friends with existing streamers. i need to get into other smaller but decently viewed mc streamers and get involved with them. befriend them and hopefully get involved in ways that is not jut a viewer. maybe join their smp and be very active, and then keep climbing. but that leaves more and more on my plate. seek out people very actively, socialize a lot, do my own streams still, make youtube videos as well....

while i kept up streaming for some time, that other part- connections- was so exhausting. its wrong to say you need to "force" friendships but this is a job. like many other industries you benefit from connections... some of them feel impossible to get into without connections. thats kinda how it is! and being in a streamer group helps, it probably wouldve gone somewhere more productive i had wanted to do what that group was doing, but i did not.

so yeah. in the end i dropped it. and overall that period just felt so forced with how i put on a mascot character, aesthetic, and tone i didnt really want but felt i "needed" for the goal i had in mind. it works if you know its a job you want, but i wasnt even really sure i wanted that job, it was just thinking of the "ideal" result, and then finding how extensive and exhausting the process is. and its not even to guarantee you are successful either. success in online creative spaces is still so... random. it is not easy to establish or find.

It would undeniably be bdubs, and man. i dont even know. id have to tell him how long i have been watching and how much its meant to have his videos to watch. and compliment the incredible things hes done as an artist and the way hes changed building in minecraft in such impactful ways. just overall say how fuckin great his art is. his building is art and i feel like that has to be said

i do often jump around non-HC specific videos if there is no HC stuff i want to watch (since i typically stick w specific ppl and they dont always have new stuff for a while). like guess the build, or build with bdubs, or other random hermit collabs that may pop up at times! i wouldnt say i watch that much hermitcraft due to the fact i only stick consistently with bdubs, etho, and grian? kind of mumbo now? unless there is a Thing going on and i wanna see more povs.

if i had answered this a few years ago... i would have said yes. its an interesting question imo because it does seem like a dream question. play on an incredible server with all these youtubers i adore??? fuck, that part of me does say yes!

but if i am being realistic: it would mean changing my course and doing mcyt basically as a job. i did attempt to find something in mcyt by streaming my SMP and making a few minecraft videos a few years ago! and it was... in hopes to build myself up, and get involved with more people, and potentially people with bigger followings. i did befriend some folk lightly but i just could not keep up with it. that whole era for me was weird and trying to find an online identity that was admittedly more "marketable". it was tiring and i did not really enjoy it, it was too forced from what i enjoy

so yeah. realistically, i would not want to uproot my entire direction creatively right now even if it were an invitation to hermitcraft. a visit to the server? hell yeah. full invite? nah.

becase i follow people from mcyt and theyre not all specifically into just Life SMP or HC and so i get a taste of others i dont watch. and yall i really cannot tell if youre enjoying yourselves or not some times. you can stop watching them there are so many other SMPs to watch where you dont have to deal with hating 1/4 of the players on the server

With how much we've seen scar mention teaming with etho next life series I'm more and more convinced that they're gonna start chopping trees together episode one and etho will be like "oh hi scar haha" and scar will say "are we finally gonna put this all behind us and be on the same side etho?" and then bdubs will come running up like "hi guys :) hi etho :)" and then scar will look at etho looking at bdubs and see every future of every universe where he's stuck with ethubs being ethubs for a whole season, and either resigns himself to being the third wheel to a decades long complicated relationship that is both happily domestic and deeply fraught with tension or he has to re-enter the cycle of violence and just kill etho episode one and two and three and
