I have pretty much no idea what I'm doing. But there'll probably be something relevant to whatever I happen to be interested in at the time. Icon art by @flowerveil on twitter
I've been away for a week at my parents' house, i just got back and the internet in this place is still down. it went down a week ago, i let the people who run the property know immediately, got no response back. took a second email (after my housemate texted me about it) to get a response and i was told it would be coming back on on Friday
People against piracy fail to realize that no, I can’t just ‘buy it.’ They stopped making DVDs and Blu-Rays. They’re barely offering digital copies for download. I am not spending money I could use for food or bills to pay for a subscription service just so I can always have access to a beloved piece of media. Especially not when the service will remove media on a whim without concern for how the loss of access to that piece will make its artistic conservation nigh impossible.
For example, I recently learned that Disney+ had an original film called Crater. It’s scifi, family friendly, and seems cool - I would love to buy it as a holiday gift for my little brother! But: it’s exclusive to D+ and THEY REMOVED IT LITERALLY MONTHS AFTER ITS RELEASE.
The ONLY way I can directly access this film is through piracy. The ONLY available ‘copies’ of this film are hosted on piracy websites. Disney will NEVER release it in theaters, or as something to buy, and it may NEVER return to the streaming service. It will be LOST because we aren’t allowed to purchase it for personal viewing. If I can’t pay to own it, I won’t pay for the privilege of losing it when corporate decides to put it in a vault.
you've all forgotten your roots anyway here's bulma waking up surrounded by garbage and then immediately chugging a warm beer she picked up off the floor
Did I mishear Yang and is Ta/i technically in Vacuo and he just is out on an assignment from there? Or is he still in Vale? I just want to make sure I’m understanding.
we don't know where he is, just that Qrow said he's 'on assignment', and we don't know who told him that or when, but the way Yang frames it as him "not being here with everyone else" (and the conversation preceding that being about the Bubba Bubba Boba shop relocating from Vale with the rest of the refugees) implies he hasn't come to Vacuo at all - so i would assume what contact Qrow has had with him has possibly been through Raven
I also love that we’re seeing how the Ever After was positively impacted by Ruby and Co’s presence. The Genial Gems are working to build a stable society and support others. The night market is even more of a thriving community. The Herbalist is doing their job properly and guiding others. And with a little help, the Red Prince grows and learns too — not because the Gods forced them into a new role, but because a fellow Afteran told him he was capable and still had worth without the constant expectation of victory.
if you dont want print media to die, buy physical copies of things. if you don’t want independent journalism to die, subscribe to a local newspaper. if you want more libraries and skate-parks and arcades, get a bunch of friends and call in the individual charge of your village or town or whatever and ask for one to be built and use the existing ones. if you want more native flora and fauna, start looking at the ones that already exist and how to preserve them. this is your world too. fight for it. get rid of the rot of passivity.
it won't be the last episode of RWBY, but that is the last of Rooster Teeth RWBY, even if it's a "see you later" for some (but hopefully most) of the crew, and that's sad
