that so many people assumed that the McLaren was the potentially illegal car, and not the car designed by the team that broke the budget cap and won a WDC because the rules were misapplied for their benefit...

OR the team that had an illegal engine a few seasons ago and the terms of their penalties WERE NEVER PUBLICISED.

Like when there are shenanigans, I immediately think Ferrari, then RBR, then Merc, then Flavio Briatore personally, and then I start admitting that seven other teams exist.

McLaren was disqualified in 2007 from the constructors championship because of spygate and got the largest fine in the history of the sport. My memory will always make me think of McLaren.
