Streaming!

It's the Kemetic New Year with Shu-Anhur as the god over it, so let's celebrate by playing some FF14!  Yes folks, I finally have my new computer set up and want to see how it handles streaming and gaming.  We're gonna be going into the 5.x content tonight at midnight CDT/GMT -6!  https://www.twitch.tv/binara

Atem’s arrow hits, but doesn’t do any discernible damage at it gets sucked into the creature’s body.

With a deafening roar, the creature changes its shape, gaining a more humanoid form with one big eye and several smaller eyes along its body.  It retains some of its tentacles, but now they look thicker and harder to dodge.  All around, the black gunk starts to crawl slowly towards it.  It sneers at the barrier Mahaad has thrown up and cracks its knuckles.

Yugi nods to Atem, draws, and places a monster in defense mode.  The roar triggered a trap, which caused his monsters to gain an attack buff.  His castle hits it around the barrier, but Silent magician’s shot goes wide.  Yugi looks to Herald, then takes a vial off his tactical armor vest and pours a little on the wound before drinking the rest.  The wound closes at a rapid rate and Yugi feels his turn end.

“If Bakura were here and we were playing Dungeons and Dragons, I’d think he’d say that it spent its actions doing the transforming,” Yugi said.

“Expect a tankbuster next time it acts!” Ami’s voice modulated in for a bit.  Herald looked around and saw the gunk migrating towards the creature.  Her eyes narrowed.  “Sekhmet, seneb!”  She said and held a golden light up to her arm, healing it as her barrier reestablished itself.  “I’m gonna have to start my cast after what it’s planning.  Try to get a few more hits in!”

Atem’s arrow hits, and while Mahad’s orb was aiming for almost the same spot, the creature knocked it away into the sheet rock.  The appendage that blocked the attack lunges at Yugi, pierces the barrier and his left leg.  Two others go for the Ancient Castle and Herald.  The Castle swipes the appendage away, but Herald’s barrier isn’t as lucky, as she gets hit in the left shoulder.  The creature sneers, revealing a mouth that no one could have seen before.

Yugi grunts in pain and puts pressure on his wound.  This was a lot more painful than when Kaiba turned the settings up to max on duels.  He drew through the pain, set a few trap cards and then had his monsters attack.  Silent Magician hits with her spell and so does the Castle.  He uses the last of his turn to recalibrate the shield.  “I’ll be fine,” He said, as if he knew what Atem was going to say.  “I have a healing potion if I need it.”

“Son of a kraken...” Herald says and leers at the creature.  Luckily the wound was superficial enough that she could still cast.  “Ra aha!”  She cast a Ra’s Wrath at it and hit it on a limb.  She looked to Mahad after seeing the creature pause and pull its limbs back.  “Something’s wrong...It’s doing something that I’ve only seen twice, and I can only guess if it’s the same,” Her voice was modulating between Herald and Ami’s.  “Be on your guard!”

Atem hits with his next arrow, while Mahad ((if he did cast a smaller spell at the boss)) misses.  The creature wails at Yugi’s monsters, but they are unfazed by the attacks.

Yugi’s turn started, and he activated a few of his magics and traps, refreshing his barrier and making it easier for him to taunt the foe.  He set another wall monster before attacking with the castle and Silent Magician, both of which narrowly miss.  He set a card and felt his turn end.  “Got it!” he said and nodded to both Atem and Herald.

“Well, here goes shot one!  Ra aha!”  She said and cast a Ra’s Wrath at the creature, which hits it in between a few of the eyes on its body, making it scream.  She barely gives a smile, as they had only damaged it a bit.

Only one of Atem’s arrows hit, and the creature was strangely faster than it looked, dodging Mahad’s arrow magic.  The creature then roared and threw gloppy appendages out at Yugi, which bounced off of the force shield that the cube was creating and splashed harmlessly off of Silent Magician’s barrier.

Yugi felt his turn begin, so he moved forward a bit with his monsters, drew his card, and summoned the signature monster of his from his Ceremonial Duel with Atem: Silent Magician level 8.  He activated a trap card to debuff the monster before attacking with the castle and her.  While Silent Magician’s shot went wide, the punch from the castle struck true, making the creature’s body wriggle like gel.  Yugi did a tap on his force field and felt his turn end.  “He doesn’t look bloodied,” He commented with a furrowed brow.  He wanted to get this over with so that he could talk a bit more at length with Atem, Ami, and Mahad.

The Herald sneered at the creature.  So sonic attacks wouldn’t be as useful as she thought.  She holstered the sistrum once more and went for a Ra’s Wrath, hoping that she wouldn’t have to use the Blessing of Tayet in battle.  It always took a while to charge and incant, so she typically saved it for big swaths of impurities.  The Ra’s Wrath is dodged by the creature in its wiggling, jiggling nature.  “Stupid blob!” She said, a bit of Ami’s voice coming through before modulating back into Herald’s.  She looked to Atem and Mahad.  “If I don’t hit within my next two castings of Ra’s light, I’ll need you to cover for me.  I’ve got something in mind, but it has a big time sink to it.”

Yugi drew his card, tribute summoned his castle monster, then stepped from behind the corner.  “Ancient Castle, attack!” He called and the castle swung a mean right hook into the monster, knocking it into the partition between the Sears and the hallway with a sickening squelch.  He had silent magician put a few potshots into the creature, hitting one of the eyes and making it roar in pain.  He then activated one of his magic cards to buff up his defense and felt his turn end.  He looked back to the others.  “I got his attention, do what you can to take him down!”

The Herald nodded and flew around the corner, getting up midway in the hall before taking out the sistrum that was on her belt.  “Roar, Sekhmet-Mut!” She incanted and shook the sistrum, hoping the sonic attack would hit, but it didn’t seem fazed by the chiming of the instrument, though the glass of the nearby soda machine cracked.  “Damn, this thing’s tough!”

Yugi nodded and followed the way that The Herald was pointing, careful to have his monsters stay levitating while he navigated the nearly impassable from the ground with gunk corridor.  It seemed that without playing a card, he could move freely up to the point where he could peek around the corner to the Sears.  It was there alright, a massive ogre-like thing made out of what looked like tar and reminded him of Thousand eyes restrict with the many eyes it had along its body.  He couldn’t see the back half of his body from the angle he was at, but if it was anything like restrict, he’d need to get around its special ability.  He waited for the others to reach him before he would act.

The Herald smiled slightly as Yugi took the lead.  “He does seem like the protective type,” She commented and looked to Atem.  “I guess he has you to thank for that.  If you are going to follow him on the ground, step lightly and in the clear areas.  I can heal you, but it takes time and concentration.  I cannot shield you with my magic, but if you need to step back I can give some cover fire.  Good luck to all of us, and may Wepwawet open the way.”  She kicked off and before flying towards where Yugi was incanted “Bast, khuwi!” and a shimmer around her was pronounced for a second before returning to normal.

"It was one of the death camps that the Nazis had to perpetrate genocide back during the 1940s," The Herald said.  "It is in a lot of different versions of Earth, at least, that's what Binara told us.  The one we were at was a historical site and museum for what had happened about seventy years before the current time in Ami's seen world."  She faced the left part of the intersection, where the gunk was quite thick, and her eyes blanked for a bit.

Yugi shook his head.  "It's fine.  I was sad for a while, even after you came down to help me with Diva and the Ring.  I did what I could to process it, and then I looked to the future.  Kaiba-kun didn't take it so well though.  As far as Mokuba-kun has told me, he's needed the assistance of some doctors in the years I didn't see him much."

The Herald's eyes snapped back to their original expression.  "It hasn't noticed the scout's demise," She said and looked back to them.  "Are you ready to take it on?  It is just down the corridor here and in the Sears' entrance at the next left.  It's also what Psycat would call 'butt-fucking-ugly'."

Yugi grabbed his defense drone bot and input a command.  It glowed and beeped before resuming its floating alongside.  "Now I am," He said and faced the way The Herald was pointing.  He was a little worried about that approach to the boss, but saw a rhythm to its near pulsation.  Just like the waking water in Zelda.

Mahad hit with that attack, sending it staggering into the junction and it fell on its face.  It turned from a humanoid shape to an amorphous blob in the crossroads, the Starbucks visor being eroded like it was in an acid.  It released a stench like day old gym socks as they came up to it.

The Herald wrinkled her nose.  "Not the worst I've smelled, but not the best either," She said.  "It has nothing on the arcane item user that was creating a havoc at Auschwitz on remembrance day.  It was horrid, to say the least."  She looked back to the other two.  "Keep your setups running, we're close to the biggest impurity."

Yugi drew a card, felt his feet unstick, and moved with Atem up to the other two.  "It's been about a year since she went back to America, but she was over in Domino for a couple of months when I met her the first time.  I did notice she had a liking for Ancient Egypt, but you had already gone on to your afterlife, so I didn't think it was a good idea," He said and tributed for a face down defensive monster.  He held his nose as he got close to the stinking pile of goo.

Mahad's first and third dark balls hit, sending the scout tumbling and looking decently damaged, but caught himself on a kiosk before he continued towards the junction ahead.

Yugi smiled slightly.  "She has an interesting idea of what she would like to be," he said and felt his feet release.  "You should see her River Rose character."  He moved down the stairs and into the main hallway of traffic before summoning Marshmallon in defense mode.  His feet stuck again, but he had an idea that would need Silent Magician at 2000 attack before he struck.

"My mission, as dictated by Bast herself, is to be the cleanser of isfet.  In most missions, and especially with my associate Anicat, that has been to prevent magical items from being misused," Herald said and got within range.  "I have been a purifier of what is against ma'at as well.  I believe Ami pulled me because of this and because I have the ability to heal wounds far more egregious than what she knows about the rest of the party."  She made a budded lotus shape with the motion of her hands, gathering energy in her palms.  "Ra, a'ha!" She incanted and pushed the ball outward at the scout and into a golden line blast when she got a clear shot.  It hit the scout square in the lower back, causing it a great deal of pain.  It seemed that one or two more successful hits would stop it in its tracks.

Yugi sighed and felt his feet unlatch from the floor.  "We'll catch up as we can!" He said and drew a card, then used what would be his standby phase to move up to the door with Beta in tow.  Once he got there, he summoned Silent magician and placed one more facedown before feeling his feet lock in place as he saw Ami's transformation.  Her character certainly had a beauty to her that he didn't expect from Ami. 

"So, uh, what's her name?" He asked.

Ami looked to Yugi.  "You mean my name?" She quipped back.  "I am called The Herald, the chosen of the Collar of the Iryetra.  Ami has been given permission to call upon me onto herself when the need arises."

She looked towards the scout, who wasn't quite out of sight yet.  "So she means to cleanse that.  Just don't touch the black gunk and be wary of your power levels in here--it is, after all, a personal space, as Binara would say."

Looking to Atem, she smiled.  "I would love to talk with you later, once we're out of rounds."  She made a skyward gesture, showing the front drape of her lotus belt, the Eye of Ra with malachite collar, the cutouts in the front of her dress' arms, and the gold cat armband.  It also made the sistrum on her belt jingle.  "Hethert-Nut, akhyt!"  She said with a mystical tone and started to float above the ground.  She faced where the scout and Mahad where heading and started to fly after them.  She was near level with Mahad when the scout started to try and zigzag his way through the passageway towards the junction.

like as much as i love icons and a good psd, sometimes its just tasking to do. and not everyone has great resources. so if you’re okay with having threads with no icons, please reblog this so that people know you’re okay with it. i feel like roleplayers today are too focused on the aesthetics and won’t follow people who use base icons or even none at all. it’s not about icons, but about the writing !!

Atem's arrow caught it in the leg as it saw Ami running towards him and released the door.

Ami nodded back towards Mahad.  "Yeah, mine," She said and saw Yugi drawing a hand before running to catch up with them.  She hit the emergency door running, opening it to see that the scout was at the bottom of the stairs already.  "Shit..." she said and tried to catch her breath.

Yugi had gotten up to the auxillary concessions stand before he summoned Beta the magnet warrior and placed a few facedowns.  He looked back to Atem.  "Looks like we're going to have to chase it down," he said, then felt his feet freeze in place, like they had done earlier.  This could get very annoying quickly in a battle that relied on speed.

Ami had managed to catch some of her breath while leering at the scout.  She noticed that the space here was more open, and perfect for the character she had up.  "Initialize!" She called, being a bit dramatic and pressed the activate button.  Suddenly, a voice came out from the River Rose device.

"Please state if in hero or civilian form."

"Hero," Ami said.

"Recognized.  Please incant the transformation spell."

"Iryetra, khuwi muti!  Iryetra, kuwi netyuwi!  Bast ankhtawy!  Bast, siwy!" She said and then a light surrounded her.  When it finished, she was an average build woman with bronze skin, a golden barette with an Eye of Heru and malachite pupil held back the sides of dark brown hair, and a flowing white dress with a golden belt cinching the middle.  She looked back to Mahad with kohl-rimmed brown eyes.  On her forehead was an embedded bindi-like ankh with a malachite in the middle of the loop.  "Let's catch this jerk before we lose our surprise advantage."  Her timbre was a little higher and smoother than before.

Mahad stood gazing around the strange area before him. He had guessed that he was here to help and he could sense some type of dark energy but he still wasn’t so sure as to just where he was. He stuck close to Atem though, his protective nature kicking in as he listened to the girl explain what was going on, or at least introduce herself. “He’s my best friend” Atem stated proudly, making Mahad glance quickly off to one side. It sounded like the highest of praises but it didn’t seem as though they had too much time to catch up and learn more about one another. Mahad was quick to move after Ami, staff out and ready to use if it was required. “Dreamscape? Are we in someone’s dream then?”. it was a rather curious concept and the mage found himself seeking more information, even if they were currently in a dangerous situation - an arrow flying over Ami and Mahad as Atem shot towards the scout.

It had been a long while since Yugi had seen Mahad in this form.  Whenever he dueled and worked on the new game, his form as Dark Magician was with him.  Yugi smiled at him and nodded.  "We'd like your help in getting a creature out of this dreamspace," He said, his creative side kicking in a bit on the wording.  "We don't know how powerful it is, but we have to try."

Ami winced a bit as Mahad came through.  Though she had given him permission to do so, it still stung like slapping a bracelet too hard on your wrist, but mentally.  She looked over the magician once it died down.  "It's good to have someone else to help," she said.  "I'm Ami.  I don't know much about you, but having a fou--"  She spotted something peering in on them from the emergency exit behind Atem and Mahad.  She stood up, staff in hand and threw it aside, seemingly swallowed by the dream wall.  "Fuck!"  She ran past the akhu in front of her and pulled up the specific sheet she was going to use.

Yugi was going to ask what Ami was doing, but his eyes followed where she had been looking.  There, at the emergency exit, stood the humanoid monster with the Starbucks cap.  It was staring straight at them.  Yugi stood and shuffled his deck before putting it back in the duel disk.  "It wasn't harmful when we saw it!" He called to Ami.

She looked back.  "That's the damn scout that lead the dogs to me!  If it knows we're here, then we're outta time!"  She hated to run like this, but it was imperative that it not reach its boss.

Ah. Right. It wasn’t as simple as pulling out a card and calling him to his side was it? He was thinking over what he could do to get the attention of his old friend when Ami spoke up - the pharaoh smiling softly in gratitude. “Alright thank you. I’ll do it a short distance away - so I can explain things without him freaking out too much” he laughed lightly, dragging himself over to a clear space to the side of them - still in view though. “Mahado - answer the call of your Pharaoh” he spoke softly but clearly in his native tongue, golden light shinning around the area before the faithful priest appeared before him, kneeling before Atem even if he was slightly confused by what was going on. “Stand and be at ease Mahad” he smiled as Mahad slowly stood up, taking in the area around them, “…what is this place?” he muttered, glancing towards Atem who explained their situation as best as he could. “Well - in that case I shall do my best to help” he smiled and glanced towards Yugi, “Young master - I hope you’ve been keeping well”
