PLEASE I need to see more examples of software malfunctions with Markus — he scavenged biocomponents from a literal junkyard there’s no way him nor most of Jericrew (North probably spared bc she’s been deviant not that long) facing repercussions of stuffing themselves with potential damaged or faulty parts that were just 13% more functional than their last.
Incompetent Markus playthrough, except instead of him actually being incompetent, Markus glitches out at the most inopportune times due to, you know, having been shot in the head. You can't tell me that Markus popped in two wet, old, dirty, semi-compatible bio-components into his head and he was good as new.
During the Cyberlife Warehouse raid he gets caught by the guards and North has to rescue him because he gets stuck in a preconstruction.
North tells him to lock the door during the Stratford Tower mission, and a full five seconds later he's forgotten what shes said and they get caught.
The Capitol Park mission where North bitches him out for standing there the whole fifteen minutes doing nothing, Markus is just like "15 minutes? Wdym we got here like 2 minutes ago???"
Have him being shot and almost killed have side-effects. Let North come to the realisation that 'oh, hes not actually incompetent, he's impaired". And then find ways to accommodate that.

Using nighttime’s shadows or underground tunnels is a really solid theory given his face — even without his led — is unmistakably one of the most common molds found on an Android. He isn’t a unique mold like Markus or Connor and hasn’t modified his looks like Kara cutting her hair.
I also hc that jacket he’s got to have been swiped from somewhere so he can zip up and hide the massive hole in his chest in the case he’s seen from a distance. The nerve connections to his legs were severed, so he probably managed to get his hands on a replacement part or recalibrated his legs somehow just long enough to climb down Stratford and head home to Jericho.
I think it’s a good reference for how much of a survivalist he truly is after hiding and scavenging for 2 years at that point. He knows efficient ways to remain hidden even if it requires unsavory places like sewage lines for the sake of invisibility.
We got almost 24hrs from Simon being left at SfT and returning to Jericho. Dude is damaged and blue blood all around.
I think i should make 4 observations about it:
Walking in crowded spaces ain't an option cuz he would be easily spotted with how damaged he is;
Someone probably helped him getting tf out of the Tower when the dust settled or he's really sneaky;
He def had to fix his legs so he could walk without suffering from dcs every 3 secs and falling. How? Idk, 100 possibilities;
He probably preferred walking during the night where everything are almost empty, at least the streets. Or maybe he used underground tunnels;

Cage nerfed simon from ben’s height to 5’11 bc he couldn’t handle the sheer power of Markus looking down at Simon’s printed diagnostic after forcing him to sit in Jericho’s medbay for a well-awaited physical (is actively falling apart) and reading the date of his model to discover simon is fucking 6’2 and just has the worst posture known to man

More portrayals of Simon visibly resembling an actual man in his 30s that has experienced so much shit he’s just jaded and tired of it all instead of a gay bean twink that stutters and licks Markus’ boots like he’s canonically killed people
the funny thing about the way simon's portrayed in fanon is that most people have mutually agreed that he's super shy when he's Really not? at least not in the same way people write him to be. he never really struck me as socially awkward, he's mostly just anxious in general and, considering the fact that he's been holed up in jericho for 2 and a half years just watching his friends die out, it makes a Lot of sense that he is
regardless he's very vocal about his opinions and what he wants and what he doesn't, even under high levels of stress, he doesn't hesitate at all to oppose the others' opinions + in the second chapter he appears in he pretty much tells markus to suck it up and deal with it or find another hole to die in which. he words a little nicer than that but. Definitely not as passive and docile as people think. like, yes, simon is loyal, and yes, he's quiet, but he isn't shy to the point where he's stumbling over his words and unable to look markus in the eye for longer than a few seconds without blushing! that's mischaracterization! and based off of very little if not zero actual evidence!

Before saying that North is wrong and Josh and Simon are right, remember that North does all the dirty job for them. She is the one who stains her hands with human's blood for THEIR right to live while Josh and Simon are standing there doing absolutely nothing.

I’m sorry for the constant rambling on the Simon post I just have many many the lights about him and his past and such and k wish we got more from him in canon
no need to apologize at all !! since 2018 he’s been in the back of my mind as my fav dbh character. His canon lore is so slept on — if he was just handled more he could’ve made the history of Jericho less ,,, empty ?? Either way I’m really happy we’re able to talk about him ^^ it’s nice there’s more people who fill gaps of Cage’s writing with their own hc’s and renditions of what went down with him offscreen :]
I love that grown ass tired looking gay man

I’d think many would be wary of Markus and the others next steps. Some distrusting/scared about it which would then play into Markus speaking more with the other residents and growing bonds with them.
^^^ Markus (who’s been there for like only 2 days) returning from a massive heist back to Jericho with their old leader of two years missing and only Josh seems to give a shit?? The one collective head that’s been overseeing the safety of their residents didn’t return with the rest, if anything his disappearance should’ve played a massive role in Jericho trusting Markus.
As for Simon’s injuries I also assumed he has a faulty battery of some sorts due to him sleeping immediately post-Markus’ arrival. Maybe the flawed parts he’s salvaged from dying deviants weren’t in top condition and he has to enter a ‘low power mode’ to combat a forceful standby. Based off the KARA short an android’s quantic battery can last up to 173 years, but maybe there’s something wrong with Simon’s energy output and he’s simply just gotten used to it. That way Jericho’s residents can wake him up if needing help, but until then he stays out of everyone’s way. ‘Dealing with’ chronic weakness, as he’d say — having handled it for so long he hasn’t seen a need to get repaired even after Jericho obtains biocomponent printers. It could also explain why he’s such a bullet magnet, he physically can’t keep up as optimally.
I HC a lot of the other caretaker models would worry endlessly if Simon weren’t to return, including that YK500 model in Jericho (so much potential for a kid like Alice to be caught up in the revolution)
With multiple accounts ingame of Markus comforting shell shocked deviants, there’s potential of the other three advocating reassurance for their people too given they’re caught up in a civil war. North could’ve comforted refugees from Eden Club / victims of SA and provide them clothing/autonomy whilst channeling their hatred into fire for their cause. Josh could handle victims of domestic violence and be the most vocal with aid, and caretakers look up to Simon given his years of maturing. With one of them missing; a wing of Jericho crumbles.
Slight unrelated to prev paragraph, but I’m still trying to figure out what the deal was with that hole in Simon’s chest at Stratford. A bullet slicing his thigh laterally makes sense, but there’s just a fist-sized hole just under his sternum?
Simon being both metaphorically and the literal embodiment of a Sacrificial Lamb. Seeing himself as nothing but a failure of his people — viewing his own vessel as a farm for biocomponents to feed his comrades and provide their sustenance with his death like defeated prey. Made up himself of parts he’s salvaged and torn off others of his own kind in their final moments to keep himself going over the years, believing he’s joining the cycle by sharing the same fate of the ones he’s seen die in Jericho prior to Markus’ arrival.
His persistence in Markus tearing out his heart akin to a sheep forcing its exposed neck into the maws of a starving wolf; wishing it’d kill him to live on. Knowing a piece of him lives forever from within Markus’ chest, beating his heart for him to keep his companion alive even with Simon gone. Not caring he’s forgotten and lost in the chaos of war. Body but a limp plastic chassis with him gone.
Not even giving Markus a choice. Urging to just eat him and let him die already for the benefit of everyone. Simon valuing all life but his own.
God I love him as a character but please give that man some happiness. No wonder he’s so tired all the time, he’s probably worn down from all the shit he’s seen throughout the years in that rotting boat and just wants to go out being useful for once. Bro looks like he just wants a nap.

Josh being angry about leaving Simon behind—fighting back against the decision and then having the reality that if Simon doesn’t make it back tension only mounts. I see Josh following Markus because Simon does and he trusts Simons decision—I’ve thought about it a lot and when it comes to Jericho being blown up and them at the church Josh and those who only follow Markus because of him and Simon— ‘Simon trusts you. So I’ll trust you.’
^^^ Josh was the second of the three to have arrived at Jericho, he’s been there long enough to gain Simon’s trust and understand his judgement accounted as absolute before Markus’ arrival. They’re deffo friends in some way with how often they’re paired together / both tossed into the bg for scenes revolving around North and Markus.
Simon and Josh could’ve been SUCH a neat parallel to Markus and North’s bond as mission partners too. His priority of safety and conservation of life opposite to Markus’ immediate action and risk-taking whilst still holding the same ideals — despite one coming from genuine experience, and the other due to being a literal advanced prototype with specialized functions. Josh still acting as an ambitious drive akin to North but advocating for peaceful acts that mitigate any human deaths. It’d been nice to see their half of the missions ingame such as how they both handled Capital Park’s Cyberlife store break-ins or even Stratford whilst Markus and North were busy being all cinematic and scaling the whole building.
I feel like Jericho should definitely care a bit more or shown for example maybe a deviant approaching Markus and asking where Simon is (if killed) as he’s been tending to them personally ever since they arrived. Showing remorse when the news is broken that he perished recently. There should be much more WEIGHT to jericrew’s deaths, including his. They’re Markus’ lieutenants, but they were ALL applauded as heroes after Spare Parts. It’s true Simon’s leadership left Jericho to slowly decay and rot in the shadows, but it was out of love and care for his people’s safety.
This one is a bit more curious, but I also wanted to know the extent of how injured he had become as time went on. The way he stands in the gallery isn’t normal — I really want to know how much he’s hiding under all the layers he wears. His thigh was probably soldered shut like Markus’ waist, but I want to see how his cognitive abilities were affected with such a major nerve(?) requiring his legs be completely separated from his body. In NotS, he moves cautiously and slowly as if he has a limp. He is DEFINITELY injured somehow and refusing to tell anyone.
I think that it could also contribute to his persistence of being an organ farm for his people, due to being injured and ‘a lost cause’. Like cutting a sick animal from the pack to increase the survival rates of all others.

Literally all of this is so true omg 😤😤 especially the frankenstein part — I’d always loved the implications that it’s why he was probably able to recalibrate his legs back up in Stratford tower. He’s had to have known his own body inside and out to operate on himself and make it back under such stressful circumstances. Being visibly the most well put together in the beginning of Jericho I think also says a lot, North and Josh are both in dirty single shirts whereas Simon’s had the time to develop and establish himself with Jericho being his home (I assumed his layers were scrapped from dying androids he’s comforted and sworn to remember them by). Jericho’s quite literally been his home for YEARS. It should’ve stirred up much more tension amongst the whole organization with his death with how much he cared for his people, hell they could’ve established and implied a bond between him and Josh since he was the one to even bring up his death if Markus decides to shoot him.
Perks of being a common commercial model has made him so compatible with most biocomponents theres quite literally nothing original of his left within his body. And giving his heart away just means he’s repeating the cycle and accepting he’s no different in this recycled circuit of nature amongst scrapped androids. He doesn’t see himself as important enough to be remembered.
Through Markus we could’ve seen the history/founding of Jericho if there were more choices to explore the intimate pasts of each Jericho member like Simon and Josh. AND it could’ve left room to flesh them out and establish their bond as a group !! QD had the potential to seriously cook if they didn’t treat Simon like a determinant lamb archetype and gave him the complexity he deserves.
