Comprehensive guide of what I perceive to be references to Reid's addiction throughout the series:

2x15 "Revelations": Where it all began 2x16 "Fear and Loathing" through 2x19 "Ashes and Dust": In active addition and/or withdrawal 3x15 "A Higher Power": References making amends being apart of the 12-step program 3x16 "Elephant's Memory": Attends addiction support group for members of law enforcement 4x20 "Conflicted": Unsub reminds Reid of Tobias Hankel; Adam baffled that Reid would challenge his marijuana use saying "I thought you'd understand" in a takes-one-to-know-one kind of way 4x24 "Amplification": Refuses narcotic pain medication 6x13 "The Thirteenth Step": Has knowledge of support group procedure and the addiction recovery process 7x2 "Proof": "What if I had started taking Dilaudid again, would you have let me?" "You didn't" "Yeah, but I thought about it" 7x5 "From Childhood's Hour": Reid identifies symptoms of withdrawal exhibited by the mother of an abducted child 8x2 "The Pact": References the norms and customs of drug dealer/drug addict communication 8x13 "Magnum Opus": Grieving over Maeve's death; Garcia asks him to "knock twice if you're conscious", presumably in fear that he's blacked out or overdosed 8x17 "The Gathering": Tries to talk down the unsub by attempting to build a connection with their shared destructive urges, stating it's a life-long condition that one must never give up on 9x12 "The Black Queen": Unsub injects victim with a lethal dose of heroin; Reid is able to successfully counter the overdose 9x24 "Demons": Whilst hospitalized, unsub/nurse attempts to inject substance into Reid's IV; he panics at the prospect of being drugged against his will 12x13 "Spencer": Reid is drugged and framed for murder in Mexico; flashes back to 2x15 "Revelations" whilst under the influence; ends an almost 10 year streak of sobriety 12x14 "Collision": Insists he was drugged rather than on drugs to Fiona; a very important distinction to make for him 12x16 "Assistance is Futile": Tasked with moving drugs through the prison - I like to imagine he tampered with the drugs to not only harm his attackers, but also to dissuade him from partaking himself 13x11 "Full-Tilt Boogie": Garcia questions why some people self-medicate, JJ explains it may feel like the only solution to their pain, prompting Reid to assert, "they're not a solution" 15x10 "And in the End": Foyet appears in Reid's dream state and taunts him with different labels, calling him "doc", "agent", "addict", and "convict"

Honorable mention:

Season 15 DVD Special Features: During the table read for 15x10 "And in the End", Kirsten delivers this cut line: “one time [Spencer] hurt his knee and he made me punch him in the leg because he didn’t want to take the pain meds, and we thought maybe the leg punch would make the knee pain not so bad…” - another instance of Reid refusing narcotic pain medication.

Some of these might be reaching, but just let me have my little headcanons, okay?

I know a lot of people don't like how Spencer's addiction was handled (which, yeah) but I have to say i really really like that they didn't drop it entirely and instead dropped more references to it throughout the show even after season 2

Imagine my confusion as both a Marvel fan and a tennis fan when Sam said “I think it’s one of the Big 3” in FATWS.

I was like, what does Novak Djokovic have to do with this?

If we are correct in assuming Will dies in episode 3, that means Reid’s godfatherly duties kick in and he’ll have to be around more - if not at the BAU, then at least at the Jareau-Lamontagne household (to ensure Henry gets into Yale).

It remains to be seen whether or not that means they’ll take another stab at making Jeid happen.

Reid using a revolver as his sidearm, like he's Dirty Harry or something, has always been so weird to me for two reasons:

1. I highly doubt a 6-8 bullet capacity revolver is on the FBI's approved firearms list, when a 15 bullet capacity Glock is much more suitable for the task at hand and for the nature of their job

2. After being tormented by Tobias Hankel - forced to play Russian Roulette with a revolver - wouldn’t that be a little triggering? I would image you’d have some kind of trauma reaponse, or at the very least a negative connotation with the weapon, but evidently that is not the case.

Matthew Gray Gubler does not get the credit he deserves for having to memorize his lines on Criminal Minds. Like everytime he gets through a take of one of Reid's super complicated, multi-page-long monologues, the cast and crew better be giving him a standing ovation.

You’re telling me there are zero bloopers of Leonardo DiCaprio crawling around and grunting like that in The Revenant?

In 12x13, Reid writing “Rosa Medina” on his arm is never explained and makes zero sense given he has an eidetic memory and wouldn’t forget it.
