Paula Vogel speaks about the importance of theatre in the world by telling the story of a those in concentration camps. Theatre is a great distraction in a sense from hardship. But what I gathered was the great importance of creating. Creation allows people to connect with people and themselves in a deep almost spiritual way. During this time of quarantine I have had no choice but to do a lot of self reflection. I have been almost “forced” to learn who I am outside of what I do and with this understanding I have turned to writing and making things. In a way I have been able to create much more vulnerable pieces and begin to understand why artists often isolate themselves.

Quarter Four Project and Rationale - Weekly Short
Weekly Short Channel Rationale
For my quarter-four project, I wanted to create a format that allowed myself to continue to work on my skills. My aims include, writing, directing, shooting, and editing a short film once a week and upload these to a channel of some sort. This would hopefully be a way of representing myself while allowing some free creative space for myself during this quarantine. I want to learn how to make things entirely on my own.
Create a logo.
Make an intro and outro video to create the image of a brand.
Create an online artistic portfolio.
I hope to create some sort of consistency in my work during this time.
Write scripts
Film videos

Robert Kiyosaki 2019 - takeaways
Mr. Kiyosaki talks about how the government doesn’t want people to learn bout money.
Play monopoly in real life
Kiyosaki has a very open mindset about life and making money.
“Poverty is passed on. It is taught in your families”
The school system is designed to teach you how to be an employee.
His rich dad learned through life.
Real teacher vs. a fake teacher
“I can’t afford that” vs. “How can I afford that?”
The last thing that Mr. Kiyosaki says in the interview is “What I say to young people is to find your game.” This directly relates to us as artists or creators in a capitalist society. How it does is by understanding your personal strengths and looking into ways to create revenue with them you can gain financial success. Theatre is not a high paying job for everyone. As a creator, I need to understand my strengths and use them to my advantage.
Kiyosaki embodies the “build your own casino” thinking because he learned how to make money through Monopoly where you literally build your own property and collect money.
He says that his father said you play Monopoly in real life but Mr. Kiyosaki does not refer to monopoly as risks. You must understand money but you also have to take risks.
His point of view can be puzzling to a lot of people. His mindset is similar in the sense to Gatsby. He had a great attitude about his financial success. He doesn’t talk about where to begin. This most likely being because everyone starts in a different place.

Geez, can he at least try to pretend not to know how gorgeous he is? I mean the smug look on his face says it all…

In my mind, it was a world between a factory and a factory neighborhood. A little, unknown, twisted, almost silent lost spot where little details and little torments existed. And people were struggling in darkness. They’re living in those fringelands, and they’re the people I really love. Henry’s definitely one of those people. They kind of get lost in time. They’re either working in a factory or fiddling with something or other. It’s a world that’s neither here nor there. It came out of the air in Philadelphia. I always say it’s my Philadelphia Story. It just doesn’t have Jimmy Stewart in it! — David Lynch (from Lynch on Lynch)

There are many things I love in this world. Film is one of them. I recently (quite late to the party) watched the film 20th Century Women. To start things off on my explanation. I find it very difficult to sit down and watch a movie completely. I love films but I have a hard time sitting through them often. It's my worst quality and I hate myself for it. There are few films that I have been able to sit through entirely and not pause and have to return to the next day (excluding films watched in theaters). Something that does keep seated or "lounging" when watching a film is CINEMATOGRAPHY. Among the many things I love aside from cinematography is, pops of color (in everything), Greta Gerwig's energy, and rockin' out to music. With some friends (lately alone) I often play my favorite punk, rock, or even punk rock music and jump around my room (it really is an amazing feeling sometimes). My film that I postponed has the repeated image of people rockin' out as well, I guess I feel this makes you feel better. So when I watched this movie I lost it. When this film had gorgeous cinematography, pops of COLOR, Greta Gerwig, AND rockin' out, ohh gee...
I would explain the myself but heres a perfect explanation... "In 1979 Santa Barbara, Calif., Dorothea Fields is a determined single mother in her mid-50s who is raising her adolescent son, Jamie, at a moment brimming with cultural change and rebellion. Dorothea enlists the help of two younger women -- Abbie, a free-spirited punk artist living as a boarder in the Fields' home and Julie, a savvy and provocative teenage neighbor -- to help with Jamie's upbringing."

Annette Bening and Greta Gerwig. The film is witty, entertaining, angsty, and even sweet in some moments. I especially admire (someone start a counter for how many times I say this name) GRETA GERWIG. During this break I watched a few of her films and really have grown an admirations for her work as an actor and director. I admire her contributions to this world and I'd really hope to meet her one day. Let me take a deep breath and try to proceed on a different topic before I shed my talent crush any further. The cinematography and use of color is breathtaking and Mike Millis (director and writer) created something truly special that I plan on watching again. I hope to be in or create something this beautiful and impactful one day.
