It often feels like, if average, healthy people could feel what it's like to not be that, even just for a day, the world's problems would miraculously disappear. I'm not convinced that feeling is even unrealistic. Empathy is something this world can't seem to fully grasp.

It frustrates me to no end how people's solutions for legitimate disabilities just boil down to "just have more willpower." Stuck in bed all day? "Just get out of bed." Anxiety keeping you in the house? "Just get out of the house." Fatigue so bad that going up a flight of stairs takes 10 minutes? "Just exercise more, it'll increase your stamina." It's solid advice for people that want to get better at a thing they can already do, like maybe they're going to the gym once a week and want to go more often. For me though? If I'm having a bad fatigue day, I'm well and truly fucked. There's no "just exercise more", I have about 7 sets of stairs in me the entire day. It just feels so ableist to suggest that disabled people aren't trying as hard as abled people are and that's why they're disabled. I remember breaking down crying once and just screaming "if anyone else was stuck with my body they'd kill themselves" and. um. I don't think that's incorrect
