Am I excited to go into the new year? Not really. I had a lot of highs this year but a lot of lows, too. I think December was my worst month mentally which is ironic since I finally got out of my art block and started posting again
I am going into 2025 with extreme caution. All that I can really hope is that things will turn out moderately okay for myself and everyone else 🤙
In terms of art, my New Year’s resolutions are INCREDIBLY simple, and I’ll post a small list below. Overall, I’m just striving for improvement with posing and colors. I feel like my art is going in a good direction, but there are still some kinks that I need to work out to make things less awkward, stiff, or muddy. Excited to see how things go in that regard, at least!
Anyways, I’m done yapping. I hope everyone has a happy New Year! Be safe and all that junk. Or don’t, I’m not your mother
Art resolutions:
-Get better at coloring (color harmony, shading, lighting, the works. Someone, anyone, point me to some good tutorials or books pls and thank)
-Make character interactions more dynamic and less stiff
-More backgrounds/environmental elements
-More exaggerated shapes/anatomy
-Better composition
-Experiment with more textures
-I need to get WEIRDER. More CRINGE. I will become Embarrassing To Look At
There’s probably more that I’m forgetting but these are the ones bouncing around in my noggin the most. If I do not improve at any of these things I will [REDACTED]

It’s always interesting seeing which posts get some sort of traction and which ones don’t on tumblr
#hush noodle#for example: I thought the scarfs post and the hunter redraw wouldn’t get that much attention#but they got a surprisingly high amount of notes#on the opposite side: I thought the more shippy flower punk post would catch people’s attention#but nope. which I’m fine with— I’m just surprised.#anyways. all this to say I still don’t know how social media works to this day#like what made the hunter redraw so enticing to people ? or the scarfs post ?? human minds befuddle me#at this point in my life I just post to post. If it’s a hit— cool. If not— also cool#really the only thing that I like most about posting is reading people’s tags/comments. It’s cute and brings me joy each and every time

I love all characters in atsv equally but you would never know because I literally only ever draw Hobie
#and miles but he’s usually with Hobie so#my issue is that I love his design so much I just always default to him#im also trying to improve the way I draw him each iteration#I’ve only now gotten to the point where I can draw him semi consistently#the first attempt was ATROCIOUS#he has a hard face shape for me#hush noodle
