sky: hell, maybe you did. last i checked we haven't even started telling people we're releasing an album this year, so how would journalists know to anticipate it unless one of *us* wrote the article?

“well, i can’t very well go anywhere with someone who’s never seen the ninki minjaj vine, now can i?” however, despite his retort sky stood from eve’s sofa. “any particular reason for the sudden urge to catch some waves?” he was prepared to go no matter the reason now, however.

“yeah, i’m good, i guess,” aaliyah said with a shrug. she gave him a small half smile as their shoulders bumped. “it’s just…sometimes i still feel in the shadows because i’m kind of marketed as the mysterious one,” she explained. “i mean part of that is my fault, because i don’t want everyone to know…you know.” she gestured to let him know she was talking about her name and father. “but like being in the shadows is one of the reasons i’m like this, you know?”

sky supposed it wasn’t really weirdness he was sensing, then. aaliyah was just bothered by something which turned out to be completely understandable. not really one to give out helpful advice, however, sky just shrugged at first. “there’s nothing wrong with the way you are,” he finally told his bandmate, “being mysterious is cool.”

"hm...” humorously sky pulled a face, pretending to contemplate her words. “i don’t think that’s quite how the vine goes. see, after let’s go to the beach you’re supposed to say who am i? otherwise no one except for me is gonna understand the reference.” like he really thought she was attempting to quote a famous vine for him.

WELP, LOOKS LIKE WE’RE BACK ON OUR #SKEVE BULLSHIT AGAIN

it’s been a minute since cherry soda drummer eve peterson last gave any traction to dating rumors involving fellow drummer sky arlo of better now, leading fans of both bands to react rather strongly when one twitter user realized earlier today that the close friends are sharing clothes...again. cute! of course, not everyone thought so, with reasoning for the apprehension of some fans spanning from better now frontwoman raleigh “sweets” mori’s supposed hatred of pop band cherry soda to arlo’s place as peterson’s competition. it’s important to note that while the idea of #skeve is one that’s popularly believed among fans on twitter, it isn’t one that’s ever been undeniably confirmed — no, not even by the super obvious sharing of what looks like a very comfy black sweatshirt. peterson and arlo have always insisted that they’re just friends, but @viralgossip​ wants to know what you think!

aaliyah really appreciated all of the fans of better now but it could get exhausting to be in a band where there was obviously a fan favorite. she didn’t resent sweets at all, because it wasn’t sweets’ fault but she did sometimes feel a little looked over sometimes. like she was in the shadows, a way that she had grown up feeling. “yeah, they really can’t ignore us after this one,” she said with a laugh.

“convincing,” sky snorted as aaliyah tepidly agreed with him, feeling as though there might be a lack of genuine enthusiasm. "you good?” he wondered with a lifted brow, playfully knocking his shoulder against hers as they walked. “i’m sensin' a little...” sky gestured to aaliyah’s person with an uncertain expression. “...weirdness,” he finally decided, pulling a face at his own choice of words.

hey everyone! i’m back from hiatus and i missed you all sm! so, i looked through my activity and i think as of rn, the only reply i owe is @aaliyvhs​ from sky, but if that’s incorrect and i owe you smth, pls lmk! anyway, i’ll be working on some starters and answering my messages, so hmu if you wanna plot!

sweets was definitely the one with the strongest personality out of the three of them. aaliyah’s personality that the band played off of was more of the mysterious vibe because she was so aloof sometimes. “yeah, like better now wouldn’t be better now without us,” aaliyah said with a small laugh. “they’re mostly nice about it although there are some people who act like she’s like the only one in the band.”

sky can never really tell if those more neglectful fans aaliyah mentioned genuinely mistake better now for being a solo act or if they just don’t care about anyone else in the band and he’s never put much effort into finding out. “well, with all the work you and i have put into the...” he leaned closer, voice softening to a playful stage whisper. “...new album...” and back to normal. “...along with sweets, i imagine it’ll be difficult to ignore us for too much longer, hm?”

aaliyah loved talking to her fans but she always felt out of place being a celebrity. it was something she’d never thought she would be and she felt like it showed with how awkward and lost she could be around them, even though she appreciated them endlessly. the fans thought it was cute and they would always just say something like ‘awww styx is so awkward and shy, it’s so cute’ but she didn’t really like how she was. “yeah, respect your elders,” she said with a laugh. “like we’re the ogs.”

“i hadn’t even thought about it that way, but you’ve got a point.” in all seriousness, sky loves being stopped by fans even when it’s obvious that they would’ve rather bumped into the most famous piece of better now’s trio. conversely, aaliyah’s always seemed more reluctant to accept the attention and he’s probably one of only a few people who really knows why. “then again, we probably shouldn’t complain. i mean, at least they usually ask nicely if sweets is with us.”

waving goodbye to the handful of fans they’d bumped into and stopped to take some pictures with, sky finally turned in sync with aaliyah as the two started on their way again. “they could at least try to hide how disappointed they are whenever sweets ain’t with us,” he jokingly criticized, “doncha think?” / @aaliyvhs

best friend - a ride or die friend outside of his band who he’s constantly hanging out with and who he trusts completely. has probably lived in la for at least a few years now and would be age 23 - 26

friends, enemies, frenemies - i want them all pls

mentor - basically a drumming tutor. sky had literally never even played once in his entire life before joining better now, so this person would be a little more musically inclined than sky and essentially taught him how to play a couple years back. doesn’t necessarily have to be a drummer from a band, but they should know how to play ofc

former roommate(s) - before better now got popular about two years ago, sky was constantly short on cash and went from apartment to apartment in the los angeles area, annoying tf out of anyone who had the displeasure of living with him by never turning in his half of the rent on time and just being a general nuisance lmao soooo they’re probably not on the best terms?

workout “buddies” - aka not so friendly competition who goes to the gym together but otherwise doesn’t really hang out a lot because they’re closer to enemies than friends. tbh they probably only put up with each other at all because the competition is apparently good motivation for their workouts

people who he’s scammed, lied to, stolen from, etc - they might know what he did or they might not, but either way sky managed to pull one over on these muses. unlimited number available here tbh & further details can be plotted upon talking it out together!

half siblings related through his father - this would obviously take a lot of plotting but i want this connection for him really badly lmao so if you’re interested please message me!
