Summer. 4 Days left
4 Days left of summer break to be specific, but summer is not over.  This summer has been so much fun with the little guy.  We have been keeping busy, but we have also had our share of lazy days too.  We are at home today, someone is feeling less than great.  I thought I would take a moment to look at all we had accomplished since I’m feeling less than accomplished today.  My baby boy is sleeping next to me as I type this.  Today he needs me to take care of him, and that is what I will do.
This summer we have done a lot of fun stuff and things around the house.  This was our first summer that we didn’t go on vacation, but it makes me appreciate those times we have gone even more.  We have gone to the Kircher Park Train several times, to Blue Bird Park A LOT to play, ride bikes, and swim. Frequented the Meramec Greenway Trails on foot and by bike, Zoo, Six Flags, Pool, Float Trip, Sherman Beach Park Swimming, Grants Farm, Walks with the dogs, Swimming in the backyard, Scenic Drives, visits to see GG, Powder Valley Nature Center and the list goes on an on.  Ok we did do some stuff :)
Around the house:  4 Front Windows Stripped, Caulked Painted.  Front door/trim painted, outdoor fireplace fixed, reinforced stone wall near back corner, grew a little grass, painted living room walls/ceiling, made custom curtains, painted interior of windows, door and trim, finished master bath (painted ceiling, window, cleaned hard water deposits, installed new light fixtures and receptacles, new exhaust fan), painted office ceiling, walls, trim and installed ceiling fan, new/repairs to roof over screened in porch, cleaned gutters 2nd story, removed a lot of wasps, repaired roof, installed water softener (which is AMAZING!), replaced garbage disposal, installed ceiling fans in bedroom and kitchen, painted pantry cabinet/hutch, removed wall in master bedroom, installed 4 window units, installed 2 sconces master bedroom, took down antenna from roof and almost finished phase one of the pop up camper remodel, removed carpet/pad from stairs and cleaned up until we can refinish.  Organized kitchen...
Wow!  We were busy!  I feel like maybe I should take a nap now :-)

Painting the trim.  The trim on all the windows has seen better days.  In the front of the house it needs a sanding and a few coats of paint.  I completed the front windows and side lights this afternoon.  Sanded yesterday, painted today.  Next steps... Paint the front door and all the other windows on the house.  I am not necessarily looking forward to painting the 2nd story windows.

Check out the Sherman Beach House Garden.  Griffin helped me out this morning.  My favorite picture is the one of Griffin and the corn.  They are just about the same height.

St. Louis Steamers Live.  This was the first official day of “summer break” for me.  I have made a bucket list of things to do with the little guy.  This was a hit!  Oh and Free.  I love free!  Aunty Lisa and GG even joined us.

A nice little Sunday.  It all began way too early!  7AM to be exact.  The boys camped in the pop up last night and I guess Griffin woke up with the sun. He was running through the house like a crazy man.  I was trying to sleep and so were the dogs... That did not last long.
It was a busy day at the Sherman Beach House.  Sky and Tay were repairing the rock wall on the side of the house while Griffin and I went shopping with Grammy.  We went shopping for a bike, so hopefully Grammy can join us on the trail soon.  We cleaned the camper and closed her up and prepped the ouside for the possiblity of rain/storms.  I think the rest of the evening we will just rest :-)

This is my last Sunday of the school year and I’m so excited to have more days like today with my lil guy.  We had a fabulous time!  When I was putting Griffin to bed tonight he said “I really had fun at the park.”  Awwww!  Usually I ask:  “Did you have fun?” and he responds “where?”
I surprised him with a trailer to ride behind my bike on Saturday and today.  It will take some getting used to since he is weighing in at 40lbs.  I keep telling myself, I wanted it so I could take him and get active.  It will definetly be a workout!  So worth it.  I plan to ride as much as possible this summer.  We can ride to a park in glencoe in just 15 minutes.  There’s also access to the river and the Frisco Train Station.  So much fun ahead!
We got our chores done today and went straight to BlueBird Park for some playground time.  Griffin made a friend, Shawn.  They were so cute together!  Griffin also used the potty at the park, which is a huge step.  We went out in undies and came home in them, DRY!  Wahoooooo!
Griffin rode his trike to the pool also. I admit, the pool looks really nice and fun.  He totally wants to go back!
I am one tired Mamma!  Looking forward to more days like today!

The dumpster arrived Monday and by tonight the entire building was down.  Almost all the wood is in the container and ready to be hauled away along with a few other items...like tires, toilets and more.  What to do with the stone?  The walls are in bad shape, but the stone could be used again.  Thanks to my AMAZING hubby and Sherrid again.

Wow!  I cannot believe how fast everything is growing!  Just a few weeks ago everything was hibernating.  We ventured out for a walk tonight, which was beautiful.  Sky rode his bike (for the first time in a long time) and Griffin and Arnold chased him.  The boy and dog were tired afterwards!  We did not stay out long though... the mosquitoes are really terrible right now.  I am hoping they will die down.  It is almost unbearable to be outside.  They love me!
Griffin and Sky did a little gardening while I made dinner.  Griffin even moved worms into the asparagus patch, with his fingers.  I’m so surprised!

Before and After of the dining table.  It has taken me about two weeks to get to the point that we can use the table, but I think it was worth it!  I made my own chalk paint and I’m not happy with the the process.  The paint was really thin and took many coats to cover.  I wonder if I would have bought the real deal I would not had to apply so many coats... I’m not saying I wont use chalk paint, but I need to do some more research.  After having such a hard time I decided to steer clear of any distressing.  The chairs are white and top grey.  I am excited to recover the chairs and it should be done!

Funny things Griffin Says:  Almost 3 years old
“You have got to be kidding me”
“Seriously?”
“Mom, I like your new purse.  Grammy, I like your new purse, where is the black one?
“I’m going to smash you up in my trash truck.”
“Rescue Me!!!!”
“How can we get to the sun?  I know, I have a idea.  We can use a trampoline.”
“Why is that dog looking at me?”
Q:  “Griffin what do you want for your birthday?”  A: “A bounce house”
“Are we going to the new house?”

Non stop fun this evening painting.  Chairs and table prepped yesterday and waiting patiently for paint today.  I mixed up my own recipe of chalk paint... I’m liking what I see so far.  Tomorrow the 2nd coat goes on and the table top will get a darker grey top.  Sky’s reaction:  “It is white!”  Me:“Yes, dear, I know. White is AWESOME!”  I painted the top white so hopefully I can distress the top a little.  A coat of wax and we should be good to go!  Oh, and I need to pick out fabric to recover the seats... Not sure what direction I’m going, but I’m looking forward to seeing it all come together.

It has been too long since I put my energy into a crafty fun project.  I get great satisfaction from creating, renewing and beautifying the things around me. Lately I have been busy helping Sky with outside projects and just plain tired!
I got a wild hair today and decided... I need to do something for me.  For the past several weeks I have been looking at colors for the kitchen and living area.  It is hard to choose!  The kitchen is still a work in progress, tools everywhere and nothing on the walls.  I wanted to do something to make the space even better... like paint the giant table that came with our house.  The plan is to make our own farmhouse table eventually, but until then, I want a table we can use and enjoy.  The one that was left with the house is far from exciting, but still has life left in it. I am going to test a DIY chalk paint recipe (in prep from my Mom’s kitchen table project) on my table, since I have nothing to lose. After we are finished with it (new paint and new fabric) hopefully I can sell it for a buck or two.
Also on the agenda is to paint the cabinet I bought a few months ago that will serve as additional storage for food.  I guess it will be our pantry.  I’m thinking a dark navy blue.  After the table is painted I can decide for sure...   I have really been having a hard time choosing colors and making a commitment.  One project at a time.  I’m looking forward to working on the table this weekend.  More pics to come soon.

Three shirts and three baskets later this little dude is tired!  We kicked off the weekend by coloring eggs, went to the Vlasis Park Easter Egg Hunt Saturday and had three egg hunts of our own today.  We played a lot of basketball and T-Ball to work off the jellybeans :-)  Griffin was pretty excited about his new bug net and container.  I think it will keep him busy in the near future!  We had tons of fun with bubbles. It’s like the kid has never seen them before; totally not the case, but extremely entertaining!  Needles to say it was a long day... no nap, but an earlier bedtime.  Hopefully I get to bed a little early too!
