Not to self-toot, but this blog is an expanded universe of fanart that was based in MLP but went Places.
This post is a pretty good taste and summary
Looking for Weird Fanart
I'm looking for examples of weird fanart. Not weird in the sense that the subject matter is weird (or kinky or taboo or whatever), but fanart that actively pushes the boundaries of the term:
Art that makes you pause and go, huh. I didn't realize fanart could be that sort of thing (i.e. the historically accurate Cuneiform tablets with a written correspondence between Aziraphale and Crowley)
Art that make you pause and go, wait. Is that fanart? (i.e. is the Sistine Chapel (and religious art in general) fanart?)
Art that is so far removed from its source material that it borders on unrecognizable as remix, but can still be traced back to the canon (i.e. cosplaying an original character from an obscure Undertale AU)
Art that are of such quality or skill that it doesn't register as fanart as first. What do you mean that's fanart? (I don't have an example off the top of my head, but I think this one is self explanatory lmao)
Etc....
This is for science (or at least for my general exam). I have a small collection I've kept, but would happily take more suggestions.

If it's common for ponies to operate things with their mouths, how do you think they would deal with hygiene and higher infection risk of using such devices that many other ponies have used? Would they have an increased immunity to infectious diseases?
Ponies dont have germ theory yet, so they don't know to avoid them. It is what it is. I'm going to say that they have hardy immune systems, and that putting their mouths where other ponies have put them builds immunity more often than it causes disease. Ponies tend to live in communities where everyone knows each other, so immunity and viruses spread to each other like they do in human families. it really is herd immunity when it comes to them.
unicorns raised with ponies have the same immune system boosts, but unicorns raised in isolated unicorn communities are more susceptible to disease once they leave.

ik this blog is in a bit of a lull rn, so no pressure on answering, but I've perused thru most of the posts on worldbuilding for ssg and I didn't see this question asked: one of the main traits of humans that let us become the dominant sentient species is our opposable thumbs. ponies don't have those! and yes, unicorns can control and move things with magic but thats a difficult process to learn and not readily available to everyone. most worldbuilding I see for MLP tends to leave this question ambiguous behind the veil of cartoon logic. what are your thoughts? how do ponies maintain technological advancements and perform everyday tasks despite only being able to hold things with their mouths or (in some cases) horns? and what of writing and art?
Horses have extremely dexterous lips for ripping up grass. So they use their mouths WAY more than they do in the show. Fine motor skills are all done with the lips and teeth.
For bigger tasks, many earth ponies have horseshoes made of ferrous metal, and have magnets on items they need to interact with. Tea pots with magnetic handles, but the handles look like big disks for the shoe to fit in.
In the show, all these things are human-shaped for familiarity (and because designing for hoofed apex species is a lot of work). But in my world, things like door handles, light switches, buckets, sewing machines, typewriters, and such are all converted to large-surface hoof levers, mouth pull-strings, pressure plates, tooth-grips, etc
Here's a look at an environment that is built for someone with hooves and mouth rather than hands.
youtube
See how he doesn't struggle to operate human-centric machinery?
Meanwhile, creatures with hands will struggle in ponyville, when presented with something that is meant only to be bitten to operate.
Likewise, areas with mostly-unicorn populations have doors, buildings, devices, utensils, bookshelves, food, and everything else built for form rather than function, since they don't need to use their hooves and mouths for anything. Think a teapot with no handles at all. Nothing on the back, and nothing on the lid either except embellishments. No post that sticks up for hands or mouths to grab, just fancy markings. Unicorns can just lift that smooth lid out of the way and telekinetically hold the pot under the water. For this reason, isolated unicorns are often shocked and horrified to see ponies and pegasus use their hooves and mouths. A unicorn with a broken horn would be able to function in a pony world just fine, but is severely disabled in unicorn-only society. Though, they would still struggle when faces with devices that require horse-teeth, since unicorns, being deer, lack upper front teeth. Their hard dental pad is useful, but it is more delicate than teeth and can be injured by using pony devices.
Pegasus settlements use their mouths and hooves too, but have additional devices and adaptions mean to be operated with their wings. They have a highly developed alula, which is is the free-moving digit at the wrist of the wings.
A pegasus can grab and move things with it, but it's not as deft as their cloven hooves and prehensile dewclaws.
This is especially helpful since pegasus mouths are made of a lot of hardened cartilage with feathery skin over it. This helps them preen their feathers, but lowers dexterity.
Thankfully, most areas of Equestria have been adapted to all three species. Places of business, housing, devices, and commerce have pullies, hoofpads, soft mouth-grips, and such. Unicorns learn to use their bodies to operate things, or they train themselves to press the right area with magic to get results.
Twilight's school of friendship is the most inclusively-built area os equestria, with desks, writing utensils, and classrooms fit for a variety of hooves, hands, claws, mouths, and more. This breaks down a major barrier than has kept pony and non-pony creatures apart from each other. Hopefully the rest of equestria follows in her hoofsteps.

I don’t have any commission money right now, so this isnt me asking you to draw stuff or write paragraphs,
but do you have design ideas in mind for Novo, your listed Ocean diety?
How about the Seaponies/ mermares concept that i’m vaguely aware exists in canon? Do either exist in your lore?
I see the Pegasus x griffin offspring is a hippogriff in your lore- you drawn any hippogriffs yet, or have any named ones youd like to briefly mention?
yes indeed! all of this is at least partially addressed on my discord server (which only costs $1 to access and then you can leave once you've seen everything you want to)

Sorry if this question has been said before, but did twilight get a cool magical girl style transformation sequence when she got her wings like she got in the show?
yes, but it was painful and confusing and she didn't know what was happening. Like getting snuck an edible and having a bad trip where you think you're dying.

How was Flurry even born? Was she kind of the result of Cadance’s love magic and popped into existence or did she have to tell everyone “hi guys I’m pregnant” 💀
flurry heart was conceived and born the old fashioned way!

Want to surprise your partner with a valentine's gift they will never forget? Try a bottle of glitter and teeth!!
People keep telling me this is way too niche but maybe we can prove them wrong. Surely there's a couple weirdos like me who want to confess their undying love with uh... death!

You don’t have to post this. But I wanted to say that the way you write about Cadence and how she is both love and grief helped me a lot with my own grieving. My grandmother passed away just before Christmas, and I’ve kind of been trying not to think about it ever since the funeral because it hurts. But the way you write is really comforting in a way I can’t quite explain, and it doesn’t hurt as much to think about her now. So.. thanks
thank you for this kind message. In all things, I look for complexity. There's beauty in sadness, and horror in beauty. Grief is just all the love we still had left to give bursting out at once. Time spent loving someone is always meant to be temporary, it always has an end, we just don't know when that will be. So we store up enough love to last forever, because that is how we are happiest. It hurts so much when the time comes and the person we love is no longer there to receive it. But the love stays. You go from pouring it into a person to pouring it onto the floor, causing puddles and rivers all over your house. Eventually though, you learn to breathe it into the air. Love hangs around you and dances like dust motes in a sunbeam.
Grief is love. Love is grief waiting to happen. This is how it's meant to be. This is how it will continue forever. It's just what it means to be a person.

I thought you said godlings can't revert to their past selves, then how is cozy glow a temporary godling? :O
She was modified by a massive amount of power that her body had to mutate to contain. It was quickly removed, and she unmutated. But wouldn't it be interesting if she had lasting effects?
Much to think about.

What is Sunset's relationship with Celestia? Is she her daughter?
Former student. She was supposed to become a godling and defeat nightmare moon, but she jumped ship before she could fulfill her destiny.
We can call her celestia's prodigal daughter as a metaphor, but it may have been more like an escape.
The sky bestows a heavy destiny.
#ask#celestia going through all the ponies with nighttime related names like ok who is gonna punt my sister the best#why did she leave to a place with no magic and no alicorns? :(#ssg celestia#ssg sunset shimmer
