The Nick/Boston situation is starting to feel very Hitchcockian to me, between the "transforming myself to be like the person he's fixated on" and the voyeurism and the overall vibe of two people slowly poisoning each other to death. I think Nick is aware, now, that the road they're on leads nowhere good, but he's committed to it. Boston meanwhile has no idea, even as he's already starting to come apart at the seams. It's DELICIOUSLY noir and I'm loving it.

man. something I'm really enjoying in wwdits lore is van helsing descendants being not quite human. theres something just SO tasty about that. THE van helsings hatred and urge to hunt and kill vampires must have changed him on such a fundamental level that even generations down the line his blood still boils in his descendants veins in the presence of a vampire. his obsession with vampires was so strong it turned him and all his family after him into their own specific kind of bloodthirsty creature. their skills are honed and deadly without effort, they're stronger than they should be, they have that whole reaction to sensing the very presence of a vampire. And guillermo uses that obsession as devotion? he uses the skills he has from generations and generations of vampire hunting to loyally protect his vampires? I'm gonna black out

god but something about how fast ray dropped everything the minute he saw mew calling. like i mean that took herculean levels of willpower for ray to stop, fish that phone out, and compose himself enough to answer it.

is mew is the only one who ever calls ray? or is the only time any of ray's friends ever call him when they need something from him? it'd fit with how ray knew "it's urgent" before even taking the call.

because it makes so much sense, for someone who feels like the "burden" friend, to want to be needed by his friends so badly that he'd drop anything and everything - even a very hot, "priceless" hookup - to go be of service instead. if ray really does feel like a burden to his friends, the least he can do is try and be reliable the few times he is asked to help, right?

and when ray tries to be a good friend it's typically in the form of his wealth/material goods because it's the only way he knows how - it's not like anyone seems to think he's good for much else, do they? like that scene where ray offers to do the music and his friends stare at him as if until that moment they'd all been under the impression ray had never listened to a song in his life.

given all that, if you're ray and you're now having to choose between the hot guy in your car (who you know is only your friend because you asked him to, who'd never take "someone like you" as a lover), or, answering your long time best friend/crush's call for help (who finally needs you again after having found someone new, who has always taken care of you, who could have asked his boyfriend but is instead asking you) - it's really not even a choice, is it?

besides, ray can always make it up to sand later. sand will be fine. it's not as if sand wants or needs him the same way ray does, right?

i am so convinced that mew is just playing top.

hear me out. mew is the type of person who knows more than he lets on, like especially with jo describing mew’s character as “quietly seductive” like we know this. mew mostly likely knows that boston knew top through a hook up, he knows top is a player and he also knows he doesn’t fall for those kinds of men. so by allowing himself to have a relationship with top he allows himself to experience romance without any real chance of heartbreak because he’d never fall for that kind of man.

like i think mew knows about ray’s crush on him but pretends to be oblivious so as to not lose his friend and never give him a chance because ray isn’t exactly the healthiest of people but he would be kind to mew and there is a real possibility of him falling for ray. but top? he has no prior connection to him, hes not particularly kind (unless being kind benefits him in some way) and when it goes south it won’t affect mew at all. and also its great karma for all of top’s past lovers he’s probably fucked over (justice for sand!)

It's a unique type of frustration when you agree that a character is deeply flawed but other people keep missing what's actually wrong with them and assigning them new flaws that they don't even have it's like free my man he did none of that. He did a bunch of other shit tho.
