af2 time lets go:

prefacing with this is a lot rougher around the edges than af1 is. mainly because the format of these games doesn'twork that well outside of. well. a game. so its a bit hard for me to write how things owuld exactly go in any format im familiar with. i also don't have designs for any of the points i have not already shown, minus a couple ideas in my brain that i haven't drawn yet.

first thing's first: the second star savior (star savior? the lesser star? idk i cant decide what to call them.)

refrence and design notes here:

(i will be honest i dont think i got all my star facts right. so if you see either of the stars' designs get changed thats why)

ill call them polaris from here on for simplicities sake but know they'd also get refereed to mostly by title like the great star. the basic idea of af2 is that rather than the stars needing to be collected again like in the og, the 'sun' projects that the eclipse will try to return again soon, attempting to take the sun's light away again forever. as such it has summoned polaris, and has enlisted the points to help polaris.

this is a lie, of course. the eclipse is not returning. this is more so the 'sun' testing the points loyalty and complacency. if a point refuses to help polaris on their journey, they have been ordered to fight them until they comply. polaris does not question this for a while.

the order of meeting points exactly isn't set in stone, but the general order is smthin like

the guys who are blissfully ignorant/try way too hard to be positive about it all (shallare, ploque, arrolin, naen)

the fellows who are just too scared to go against anything the 'sun' says (signol, ixol, anshine, solgon)

and the guys who try to go against the sun as often as possible, but ultimately cannot stop it by themselves (ulipse, compale, mino)

as the story goes on, polaris questions more and more of what the 'sun' tells them, deciding not to continue fighting the points after going head to head with ulipse, who would not stand down even on deaths door. rather, they try to learn more about what the points are experiencing, going back to some of the people that agreed without any extra work convincing them (namely signol and anshine).

soon enough, the day the 'sun' projected the eclipse returning comes, and polaris goes to deal with the problem they had been summoned to deal with all that time ago. and, as far as polaris can tell, the eclipse is Really here. inside the dinky emporium the 'sun' constructed. or at least someone who looks like they'd be called the eclipse.

current latest alioth/"eclipse" full body doodle:

yeah so they fight. or well "fight", as the 'eclipse' is really just running away trying to dodge polaris's attacks. polaris rather quickly goes 'hey wait wtf are you doing' and stops the fight, giving alioth a moment to breathe. they try to explain what happened to them, but they're still recovering from getting out of the several hundred year long solitary isolation and almost getting beat up so they don't get the chance before the points hear the commotion and rush in to help.

obv it doesn't go well for a bit, but everyone is able to calm down and explain and FUCKK YOUUU THE HORSE IS HERE !!!

the 'sun' come up out of fuckin no where, and congratulates them on cornering the eclipse. and invites polaris to kill them. yknow. you're a hero, this is a monster. what do heros do to monsters. classic stuff.

alioth is sitting in there, crying, scared for their life because why wouldn't you be. after a bit of standing there the 'sun' asks if polaris needs help finishing the job, they respond no, lift their weapon, and clock the 'sun'.

the sun goes beserk, calling polaris a bunch of things. blasphemous, a moron, smthin smthin idk.this part is extremely rough forgive me. again. tldr:

the points all gang up on the sun to the best of their ability. everyone gets to hit it at least once because Fuck That Guy. idk who should get the final blow though tbh. a lot of them would benefit from having the last word. maybe it could depend on somthin like how much friendship you have idk im not a developer

'sun's dead now, yay. but also there's no sun. the crops will die. so they have a very limited amount of time to figure out what to do. and idk what they'll do either. i have a few options in mind (try to get the original sun back, have polaris sacrifice themselves to create a new sun, get the stars in the sky help to create a new sun, etc). regardless of what happens we all live happily ever after with maybe only 1 or 2 casualties.

onto other things not related to the main story of af:

naen gets a total rework. i fucking hate that guy in the og af2 i dont care. they still try to excuse the 'sun's actions, not because they genuinely believe the 'sun' was right but because naen looked up to it so much. they thought they were friends, or at least close acquaintances. naen genuinely cannot believe that someone that close to them would have hurt them and their friends this badly, and as such convince themselves that there had to be a reason, any reason for this. even if the reason was terrible there just ahd to be. with some coping and some help they'll come to their senses though.

no more shooting star. polaris gets a sick axe instead. maybe it can still shoot bullets idk i just think it'd be awesome

the pure points are more prominent during the main game, minus voixer, functioning similarly to vain revival. yawgates a worm hole now btw. i just wanna mention htat. i havent drawn it yet but trust its peak TRUST !!!

regardless of how much yuri i draw for these characters there will only likely ever be 2 canonical relationships. being tgs/mary and anshine/ulipse. both of which are no longer together by the end of the story. this is because i hate gay people and i want them to suffer (joke)

polaris might be created by the 'sun' using tgs's eye. i am genuinely unsure of it as of now, as i don't think them being related in any way changes too much for the story at least as of now. but something to keep in mind i suppose.

there likely would not be an 'af3' in the case of this rewrite. after the events of af2, everything is fine and dandy for the most part. minus yknow. the recovery.

i mighttt make some of the points no longer nonbinary. mostly just cause they are closer to their pre-point selves than in the og af. a majority of them would still have that nonbinary swag tho idc. they're rectangles sue me.

also, i refer to them by their og names here. thats just because im shit at naming things. they're supposed to have new names. so just. know that.

also i am not having ixol call it's friends "voices" i'd rather kill people. those are its BUDDIES. its PALS. and at WORST its HALLUCINATIONS!! GRAH !!!!

so for starters: my rewrite is very far removed from the og adventure forward. mainly in terms of themeing and character choices. the path the story goes down is relatively the same, it just goes down it a different way. this is mostly just cause i really love these characters but i hate having them being associated w explode1 at All. it also deals with more serious, less meta topics. mainly the impact of living in a cult/cult like community and abuse of multiple kinds.

i will also admit i haven't worked on it in a bit LMAO.. the fixation on af/af rewrite that i dont have a name for has faded for the most part but to be fair i am shaiking as im typring this so perhaphs it isnt really gone

af1 stays mostly the same, mainly cause it's story isnt all that. ynow. there. esp since stratosfear and the first star savior aren't the same person anymore*. the main changes are within post af1-preaf2 land.

the main changes are: maytown ( id ont have a new name for it yet woops) worships the stars, mainly the sun. the first star savior is a fallen star, given a humanoid form bc idk plot reasons. maybe they can just do that idk. also they're called the great star mayor maynot transitions after meeting tgs, going by mary after the events af1. also mary and tgs are in a romantic relationship. yuri ftw the great star's task it to return the light to the world by bringing the other fallen stars back to the sky and freeing the sun from the eclipse(stratosfear replacement)'s grasp. old drawings of a basic idea of how the beginning would go:

also they meet all the pre-points during their adventure, and after it's done they decide to stay in maytown because they love these people and they dont wanna leave their new friends just yet.

a few years after the events of af1 the great star realizes that the sun is Definetly not the real sun. its flat, almost like someone stuck a piece of paper up there in front of a lamp. and they try really hard to get anyone to look at it, to see that it's not real. but no one does bc why the fuck would you look at the sun do you Want to go blind. you are like actually insane. eventually they force mary to look at it. old comic detailing the exchange that im not the biggest fan of but its all i got (tumblr fucked the quality so u prolly gotta open the images in a new tab to read them right):

anyways yeah suns fake. got taken over by the 'sun'. i dont have a full ref of it but heres a lill full body doodle:

the point of what the 'sun' does is keep the member's of it's cult/community literally blind to the truth, taking away their ability to see what is right and wrong, removing any knowledge of what it doesn't want them to know from their minds, and isolating them in a few different ways. namely: contorting their bodies with animal-like features.

some other examples: of varying done-ness

(in order: arolin, ulipse, anshine, ixol, compale) the points are all based around zodiac signs which is why they have the inhuman features they do. (though i will be honest i lost my list of assigned zodiacs so i dont remember most of them).

i also have a signol design but they're based off aquarius and the constelation for that one is literally Just A Guy. so they too are Just A Guy. at least for now:

the points are very constantly degraded by the 'sun'. mostly for the features the sun forced upon them. as such they are convinced people outside of their cult would hate and fear them (esp anshine) and stay mostly within their community. most also cover their faces, believing if they simply hide what the 'other' would find ugly, perhaps they can be accepted into the 'other's community.

after mary is taken by the sun tgs tries to "repent" in a way. helping a nearby town with their problems (mostly just 'cause they dont feel like they can face their friends after basically killing mary). eventually they get tricked by the 'sun' and trapped. told that this is the only way they could ever right their wrong. and after everyone who knew them has long since passed/forgotten the 'sun' tells the people that tgs and the eclipse were one in the same, a person who started a catastrophe just to save the day and look like the hero rather than an unlikely savior.
