little one who's struggling, always feeling overwhelmingly sad when little without knowing why. the feelings are so big, they feel like they're filling the little one up from head to toe with no way out, and no way around them. their caregiver notices their quiet, sullen mood, and finally approaches them.

"hey, sweetheart. can we talk? you're not in trouble, it's just.. i noticed you've been a little down lately, baby, and just-"

the little one cuts them off, guilt thickening their throat. "i'm sorry, i'm-"

"oh, baby, no!" their carer cries, wrapping their arms around their baby. "shh, i'm not upset, i'm just worried baby. all those big feelings aren't very nice, huh?" the little one shakes their head, feeling tears threaten to fall. "you can let them out."

the little one tries to fight it, but with their carer's words, the dam breaks. tears flood their cheeks and their mouth opens in a pitiful wail. their caregiver holds them through it all.

"oh, baby, i know. i know, let it all out, i'm here. my good baby, you're so good. i know it was hard to keep this all bundled up, you're so brave, so good for letting it all out." they kiss their baby's head. "i'll always be here, honey. even through the big feelings."

they hold their little one until the tears subside and leave them exhausted and weightless, not fully better but getting there. their baby leans into them, and they squeeze them tightly, finally wiping the last of their tears away.
