Jacob couldn't decide what was more insulting: the deputy thinking she had a chance against him and his brothers, or her treating all of this like some kind of game.
He watched the woman's trembling body tied down to the chair, struggling to take another breath. Her clothes were soaked with her own blood, still dripping from her face. He didn’t hold back, not with her.
Wiping his blooded hands with a rug, he clenched his teeth at the stinging pain from his knuckles.
He couldn't brush away the feeling something was off.
The whole time, she didn't make a sound.
"She didn't even pick up a fight, sir", one of the followers reported, when he returned to the Veteran Center. "She was just waiting."
"Where?" he felt his temples pulsing, wondering how they allowed it to happen.
"In your office." he averted his eyes, but under his gaze he added. "On, ehm, your bed, sir."
In his office.
Nothing was left untouched. Papers and plans were shredded and burned, files and recordings deleted, and on top of it all, all of his liquor was gone with an empty glass proudly standing on the nightstand.
Embarrassing. His men let it all happen under their nose, and to make it worse, they let Pratt escape. No matter, his Chosen were already hunting him down, it won't take long before he's dragged back to his chair. Oh, people will pay for their weakness, but first, the little rook.
The morning light creeped into the room through a boarded up window, reflecting against the red splatters on the floor. He glared at the Deputy's limp head.
This was taking too long.
- Is this enough? - he growled at her. - Or do you need more encouragement?
The woman sighed and muttered under her breath:
- You haven't busted my kneecaps yet, so I guess for you, it's a "no".
He grabbed her jaw and forced her to face him. All painted in red and purple, swollen and cold, she was hard to recognize. Only her eyes stayed the same, big and dark brown. A deer in the headlights. A liar.
- Humor hasn't left you yet, has it? - he tightened his hold. - Now, why don't you tell me how you got out?
She gave him a crooked smile.
- You know the answer, I don't need to tell you.
"Pratt", he thought. Maybe he underestimated him.
- But in any case, - she continued. - It doesn't matter, because you can't kill me, Jake. That's the will of the Father.
He threw her head and hit the metal table, making everything jump. Clunking echoed against the walls.
She was goddamn right. Joseph made it crystal clear, "don't harm the deputy, she’s the key to the collapse". Jacob grit his teeth every time she overstepped, took too much, acted too bold... He had to watch his brother suffer after Faith's death, had to watch John make another stupid decision, watch their work crumble in front of them...
If only it was up to him, she wouldn't even be here.
He glanced at the metal surface, all in disorder. And amongst it, laid a hand gun, waiting for him.
- Go on.
He turned to her. Eyes peeking behind brown strands stuck to her face, watching.
- You're tired, - she shrugged. - I'm tired, let's just end it. - she leaned back her head with a cough. - I'm bored of this.
A sigh escaped his lips. Jacob would have lied, if he said he wasn't slightly impressed by her. Men twice her size would break long ago, begging for mercy, but her? She was still mocking him.
- Joseph wants you alive. - he perched on the table, crossing his arms.
She made an annoyed grunt, but he ignored it and continued:
– But it doesn't stop me from making use of you.
- It doesn’t matter. Just shoot me and we’ll be done with this. - she straightened up and looked at him. - Aren’t you tired of this? Of the cult? The Prophecy? Do you ever get tired of this life?
He knew exactly what she was doing.
- Don't test me. - he warned her.
She huffed a laugh, but it quickly turned into coughs and wheezes.
- I'm not Joseph. You don't need to prove anything to me, - she nodded her head. - I know. I know. Only the strong survive. Or so it used to be. - she added, but something sounded odd to him.
- Joseph is not testing me, - he snapped at her. - He knows I'll do anything for the project.
Deputy looked at him from top to bottom, carefully studying him. Finally, in a low voice, she said:
- You think I give a shit if I die? That's my purpose. I give my life for Joseph's and I do it gladly.
He swallowed. Her words... They sounded exactly as if they were his.
- I understand my role, - she finished. - I am his sacrifice. Simple as that.
She rolled her eyes and looked at him with sadness and anger.
- It's not that simple, Seed. Never was, never will be. Your sacrifice won't change a thing. Your death means nothing. No matter what you do, it all will go back to that fucking church. The truth is nothing.
Without thinking, he grabbed the gun.
- And what's the truth?
She gave him a pitiful smile.
- This won't end. There is no win, for me or you or Joseph. Either you kill me now or I'll kill you. But it doesn't matter, history will repeat itself.
He loaded the gun.
- You're crazier than I am. - he shook his head.
- You're not crazy, Seed, - she protested. - Misguided, untreated, manipulated... But not crazy. I repeated this too many times to know it.
- "Repeated this". – he chuckled. – If only it was that simple.
He could swear, her face turned serious.
- It's not fun, Jacob, it's a pure torment. Doing the same thing, over and over again. But you're welcome to try.
He raised the gun.
- I might give it a shot.
- Then, - she smiled. - See you on the other side.
He pulled the trigger.
The alarm clock woke him up.

Author’s note under the cut.
A/N: Long story short, personal life fucking kicked me hard together with writing block. This was started as a stupid “what if“ but turned into a blast of fun to writing, so I thought to publish it. Mostly inspired by “Palm Springs“ (2020) but except for the concept of two people trapped in a time loop, has nothing income with it. I’ll probably update this more often.
I hope you’ll enjoy it, and thank you for reading ^^

She hesitated, sinking right back into the memories. She never told anyone about what happened, it felt like a blank spot in her life.
Jacob moved his hand, wanting her to continue. There was a weird understanding in his gaze.
- I don't, - she continued, grabbing another cookie. – I barely remember those days. It feels like a blur. – she chowed a large bite. – I only remember... Falling asleep on a bus stop one minute, just to be wandering aimlessly at night the other... Only snippets of days and nights and places… I just moved… It was raining one night, and I was nowhere close to hid, only a church. A priest let me sleep inside it...
A memory of that stack her. The backlight statue of Virgin Mary looking at her with pity underneath tears. The cold stone floor and shadows bending around every object. The morning rays falling on her face through Eve's cheeky smile, like she was pleased with her ended there.
Maybe this was when she truly started hated her name?
A gentle brushing on her fingers brought her back to present.
Leah looked up at Jacob, taking his hand away from hers.
She continued:
- It took me embarrassingly long to just, call my friend and ask her if I can crashed with her family for the time being. – she sighed but felt like something got lifted off her. – Too long.
He nodded, stuffing another piece of chocolate inside his mouth.
- I’m sorry, - she wrapped her arms around herself. - I know it's not the most interesting story...
- I was homeless.
She frowned, unsure in what he said. He wasn’t looking at her, fidgeting with a piece aluminum.
He cleared his throat.
- I got discharged from the military, - he paused, like he had to force the words out. - They said... They said, I was unfit for combat. I was too weak... Too broken for it. - he threw the twisted piece away, clenching his fists. - They put me in a military hospital, trying to “help me”. – he made a grimace on the word. - Lay, answer questions, lay, take pills, lay. Day, after day, after day. Even the nurses had enough, slowly losing their minds, doing the same thing over and over again. Monotony is worst than boredom. – he looked up at her. Seeing her expression, he moved his head to the sides. - There were breaks. Someone new, someone wanted to talk about, really, anything. A nurse threw a book out of the window.
Leah tried to stopped it but a giggle escaped her mouth.
- No, really. – he gave her a weak smile. – She broke down crying and, - he made a throwing motion. – Through the widow. On the break, she ran outside and fetched it. Wet and dirty but still, didn’t put it away. I need to read that one

Leah barely contain her happiness. She shot from her sit and hugged [John].
- Thank you, thank you, thank you! - her eyes got watery. - God, how can I repay you?
He patted her back.
- Well, you could let me invite you to the movie.
She moved away, feeling her cheeks getting warmer.
"What?" she thought. "No, he didn't."
- Oh, ehm, to a movie?
- Nothing serious, - he quickly explained with a smile. Something didn't seem right about it. - Just to spend some time together, get to know each other. Maybe grab something to eat afterwards.
"Shit, that sounds like a date. Oh fuck me."
- Oh, that would be nice.
- So, can I get a "yes"?
Leah fought with herself. The idea of going on a date, even with John, made her stomach turn. She hated it. Truly, it was the last thing she needed. But, he did say, it'll be more to get to know each other than to force anything.
Finally, she gave up.
- Yes.
John's face brighten up, grin spread wide. He grabbed her hands and squeezed them.
- I promise, you won’t regret it. - he stood up and clapped. - Saturday night. I'll find something and let you know. Any preference?

FAR CRY 5 | DEPUTY SURVEY RESULTS
Thank you all so much for your interest, participation and sharing the survey on your blogs! We’ve got 124 answers and here are the results - it’s quite interesting to see what choices are most popular, and which are rare. I think that FC5 fandom has some of the most interesting OCs out there. It’s also intriguing to see that all these choices in the end made a new Deputy, based on the most popular answers. In the end of this post this mysterious Dep will be shortly summarized.
If you’re interested in future surveys as well, I can assure you it’s not the last one - I definitely like doing them. If there’s anything you think these two surveys of mine lacked or needed to be improved on, let me know! Feedback and constructive criticism is always heavily appreciated.
Really long post warning.

She grabbed the cake and made her way up. The closer she got, the shouting from the apartment became louder and clearer.
- Fuck it!
- John! - Joseph scolded his brother.
- Let's just order! - John sounded frustrated.
- No, we won't!
- What's the lost? She won't even notice!
- It's about the principal. - Jacob grunted.
- No, it's about your spending habits. - Joseph raised his voice. - Your soul is full of sloth and gluttony. By falling into your old habits, you'll never repeat from them.
- It's a disaster! - John yelled and loud thump sounded off. - Leah will think we're three oafs, who can't even make a stupid macaroni!
- What's a oaf?
- Us Joseph! Us!
Maybe she should go back?
She shot the idea down and knocked on the door.
Jacob open it. Dressed in red flannel shirt, with his hair and beard groomed, he looked... Nice. But tried.
- Is everything alright? - she asked. - What's happening?
He signed, massaged his nose bridge.
- We burned the dinner.
- Oh no.
- Yeah, it got out of hand.

Chapter 2

Summary: Before Deputy Leah Bailey came to Hope County (or became a deputy), she lived her quiet life in Rome, Georgia, trying to manage as much as she could. Until new housemates moved in. The Seed brothers. Slowly, she tries to get to know them and, in turn, The Seeds try to start over, now together again.

A/N: Hello again, another Saturday another chapter. Slowly getting into knowing the Seeds and some nice Jacob content (you could call it “fluff”, I guess??). Hope people will have fun, sure I had.
New chapter every Saturday.
Also, I thought adding a preview here would be a nice idea.
Preview:
One, two, three.
One, two, three.
She watched the ceiling, listening to the steps upstairs. Heavy and rhythmical, moving around, what she thought, was their living room.
One, two, three.
One, two, three.
It was long past midnight, slowly reaching two o'clock. Leah had been pulled from her slumber by a nasty dream and a sudden bang from the Seeds, not so long ago and just laid on her back. Unmoving, trying to get rid off the faint images from her mind, drowning in the darkness.
One, two, three.
One, two, pause.
She couldn't fall back asleep, with the walking it was impossible and tomorrow was her morning shift in the diner. She needed her full attention and awareness, one mistake and she could say goodbye to tips. She couldn't let it happen, she needed all she could get.
One, two, three.
She got out of bed, grabbed her morning gown and stumbled her way upstairs.
Climbing the steps, she tied the gown tightly around her waist, thinking how to form her request as politely as possible.
Stopping in from of their door, she hesitated for a moment and considered going back but she braced herself for the worst and knocked.
It was quiet for a moment and then a shuffling sounded.
The door slowly cracked open and, as she thought, Jacob Seed stood on the other side. He didn't look too well. Even in the dim light, she noticed uneasy look in his blue eyes.
- Hey, Jacob. - she started. - How's your night going?
- As you see. - he said bluntly.
- Oh, right. - she chuckled nervously. - I'm sorry for bothering you and all, but I have work in the morning and I couldn't sleep and your walking...
- Got it. - he cut her off.
He started closing the door.
- I'm not angry, - she tried to explain. - I just need to...
- Fine, no problem.
- Is everything fine?
He stopped. Just a small gap left.

A/N: So, Hi. I’m pretty new to the fandom and, well, fanfic writing in general, but I thought, I could share it here. It has a unusual subject matter, but hey, it’s all for fun. (and for a friend, who I hope is proud of themselves.)
I would really appreciate feedback ^^
