This season Cassian has been feeling like his choices are being stripped away. And not by the empire, but by the rebellion. Which is why he wanted to leave. But now Bix has stripped him of that choice as well (or at least he believes. He still could have left without her).

When we first meet him in Rogue One, he is man who acts as if he doesn't have a choice. That he must do as the rebellion says no matter what. Which is why he doesn't argue when ordered to kill Galen Erso. It isn't until he's actually faced with pulling the trigger that we see him realize that he does in fact have a choice in the matter. Then he's faced with Jyn. "Obeying orders when you know they're wrong? You might as well be a stormtrooper," she scoffs, reminding him that there is always a choice and that he's not some mindless drone. And that's why, when it matters Cassian makes the most important choice of all. To go with Jyn to Scarif. To go against the rebellion's orders and help save the galaxy. Jyn gave Cassian his choices back, whereas Bix took his away.

"I made the choice for both of us." And that Bix, is why Jyn is the better woman. She never would have done that to Cassian, because, she, unlike you, recognizes the importance of making one's own choices.

I am genuinely quite impressed that s2 has managed to get me round to supporting the cassian fans who've been critical of andor in the past. I don't find him a very interesting character, I never did, I went into andor without watching rogue one and just didn't vibe with him, but how on earth did they (tony) manage to fuck up his r1 arc like this???

Andor season 1 was spectacularly good.

And season 2 Cassian is unrecognizably bad. Because of the choice of a terribly misguided romance storyline with b**

The bix storyline is so boring 😭

She was pointless in season one and her scenes were unwatchable and the character hasn't improved in season two they should have left her in ferrix but instead they put romance in andor and nobody wants that shit. But shes there because Tony has to push his ship on us instead of no-ship andor and no-ship rogue one and bix is a combination of fucking boring and annoying and completely meaningless

everyone kept saying she would die because cassian loses everything and I keep hoping she dies early in the season PLEASE im so sick of her but she's still alive whyyyy just kill her and bury her or BETTER STILL leave her out of season two fuuuuuck every other character is 100x more interesting

not to be a killjoy but it's still crazy to me that it's considered mean to be like "maybe you should read / play / watch the source material before creating fanworks and diving into the fandom" bc every time i see somebody going "i havent played disco elysium or know anything about it tbh but uwu here's harry and kim kissing" idk maybe you should engage with it. maybe you should play the anti-capitalist surrealist game where you investigate the murder of a mercenary who led the gang rape of a foreign girl and process that for a bit? and then you can do cutesy mlm or whatever idc. but like at the absolute bare minimum you should understand what the source material involves otherwise we get the phenomenon of people joining a dragon age server and wanting content warnings for like, mage racism. like it's fine to ship and transform the genre into whatever but if you arent comfortable with discussions of the actual source content itself then maybe the fandom isnt for you and a different one is. peace and love.
