Harlem Queen!! It's a crime thriller in the Harlem Renaissance dramatizing a real historical figure. The audio quality is a little rough in the early episodes, but imo the writing and acting more than make up for it.

And a runner-up because it's definitely a noir mystery but lacks the speakeasies and historical realism of Harlem Queen, the Thrilling Adventure Hour's Tales from the Black Lagoon episodes. It's also much shorter.

Does anyone have podcast/audio-drama recommendations for stories with early 1900’s high society vibes? I’m thinking speakeasy’s and casinos and flapper dresses and art deco. Something sort of like the great gatsby or Lackadaisy, with gunfights and car chases and prohibition era type vibes. I haven’t come across any in my adventures, so any suggestions?

Summary:

Ever since the castle first appeared in the sky above the city of Windfall, its residents have been building upward. Now the city consists of towers where the wealthiest residents live at the top while the poor eke out a living on the ground. Our podcast follows Cas, Shaima, and Argus, three brothers who live with their Uncle Vern after being orphaned during the grounder rebellion twenty years earlier. They find themselves drifting apart as Argus, the youngest, falls hopelessly in love with the much-older Helina, a foreign merchant haunted by her past; Cas, the middle brother, works in secret for the local crime boss; and Shaima, the oldest, struggles to keep their uncle’s scrap shop from going under. When Cas’s best friend, Kendall, is offered a position with the Wolfpac, Windfall’s military cult that acts as the city’s police, Cas is forced to decide where his loyalties lie. Update on the rating bomb for Dead West Podcast

Hey all, so this is going to be my final rant/note/update on this whole rating bombing situation. The situation is still happening with more negative reviews coming in, even today. Please, note, I am in no way mad or upset about this or the results of it, a little hurt sure but I will carry on. I am just writing this as a living record and update for those who have tried helping me out in all of this. This is the work and result of someone(s) who are probably feeling hurt, estranged, and angry at people other than myself, I am just the current target or a fresh reminder of the things they have dealt with directly or otherwise.

I have dealt with cyber-bullying before so this is nothing new. I would be lying if I said it didn't suck and it didn't hurt but at the same time they are clearly hurting so much more that they are going to such lengths. So, I wish them peace and I hope one day they are willing to engage in a good faith conversation about a way forward that uplifts fellow creators and not tears them down. At the end of the day, I have my art and even if it comes down to a 1-star average with the only listener being my best friend then so be it. I will still tell my silly little ghost stories. While the other has been holding onto the trauma of losing his first boy crush to a horrific supernatural event that's made him unable to emotionally open up beyond buddy cop levels of friendship for 24 years of his life as he continues his lifelong crusade to find answers to supernatural murders across the city
