Disney announced their new project called "Wish" featuring an afro latina protagonist named Asha
She's pretty, but yall this is just Isabela

Disney, if this is still concept art then please give her a different color pallet. Or silhouette
Maybe give her an afro? A short afro hairstyle? Or put beads in her hair? Something

Fun Ways to Meet Characters
Thieves stealing important objects from the main characters and then being forced somehow into a found family situation
Saving a character’s life by doing something like taking an arrow/bullet
By losing a bet with a stranger and then teaming up
Gambling with a shifty character and getting really mad at them, only for them to later end up saving the other character’s life
Meeting the other in an arranged marriage and actually liking them (or really, really hating them)
Or having a chaotic dynamic where they irritate each other but they’re equally chaotic, so they become the mischievous duo in the found family
By bickering over the last piece of food at a banquet
Getting hired as a servant or maid, or some other serving position
By accidentally almost killing a character, only for them to join the found family and literally never stop bringing up that first meeting

Don’t worry. It happens to the best and the worst of the empires.
But you can always count on a creative preservation of the whole collapse.

This is the passage through blood, sweat, and tears.
An open prayer of hearts, souls, and hands.
An offering of melancholic gratitude.
Black truth, black pain, black power, black blues.
I am so proud to present my debut poetry book: So Black I’m Blue. It is angry, it is raw, it is hopeful. I wrote this for me. I wrote this for us. I wrote this for you. 💙

A poem expressing my frustration with homophobia in the Black community
Black people who aren’t cis heterosexual do not get to choose between being Black and their gender or sexual identity. The idea that “you’re Black before you’re gay” is gaslighting and false.
Contrary to popular belief, we are born with all of these multifaceted parts of ourselves and still have to face the everyday issues of being Black in America, the same way the cishetero members of our community do.
Even if the Western language such as LGBTQ+ identifications have not been utilized until more recent times, the existence of people who identify outside of the rigid sexual and gender binary are present throughout recorded history, including precolonial African.
You CANNOT be supportive of Black lives if you exclude entire groups of people within the Black community. You CANNOT be for Black lives and be misogynistic. You CANNOT be for Black lives and be homophobic-it does NOT work that way, you are just another tool for oppression and our continued enslavement.
I personally have been becoming increasingly disheartened and frustrated with the violence in our community towards those of us Black folks who dont adhere to the sexual or gender binary we all have been conditioned to believe is the only “norm” and also frustrated with the indifference from cis and heterosexual Black people towards this incessant violence and the influencers and activists who are active participants
In the context of decolonizing and abolition, we all have things we need to better with, myself very much included. But im asking cis Black people and hetero Black people to please do better.
There was a video circulating this weekend of a little Black boy being abused and having gay shaved into his head by his own family bc of his sexuality that, I promise you, he cannot control. I have anger towards all the Black women and Black men who agreed with this treatment and even if they didnt agree with the physical abuse, affirmed that they would never “raise a gay son”
If you will not accept your child if they are anything other than straight then you do not deserve children. You do not deserve to be a parent. Infertility upon you until you seek therapy.

I still cannot get over people saying it's unrealistic to have black people in lord of the rings because the story is set in a place similar to england but black people were in england even during the medieval period and besides that, the world has dragons and magic rings and floating eyes but black people are "ruining the believability" of the show?

Lil Nas X did a cover of Jolene and Dolly Parton responded to it on twitter

Image descriptions under the cut
[ID: Screenshots of two tweets. The first one is by Dolly Parton and it says "I was so excited when someone told me that Lil Nas X had done my song #Jolene. I had to find it and listen to it immediately…and it's really good. Of course, I love him anyway. I was surprised and I'm honored and flattered. I hope he does good for both of us. Thank you @LilNasX". The second tweet is Lil Nas X responding to the Dolly Parton tweet by simply saying "HOLY SHIT" in all caps. End of ID.]
