Man Who Leaked Jennifer Lawrence & Other Celebrities' Nude Photos Just Got Sentenced

It looks like celebrities victimized by an iCloud hack in 2013 and 2014 are finally getting a little bit of closure. The incident led to numerous celebrities, including Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, and Hope Solo, having nude photos leaked online. Today in Chicago, the man behind the hack, Edward Majerczyk, was sentenced to nine months in jail and ordered to pay $5,700 to an unnamed individual for “restitution for counseling services,” according to the Associated Press.

Last year, Majerczyk pleaded guilty to a count of “unauthorized access to a protected computer to obtain information.” In a plea agreement, he had his case transferred to Chicago. He wasn’t formally charged for posting the images online or attempting to sell them.

Majerczyk, 29, is accused of masterminding a phishing scheme that illegally collected information from more than 300 email and online accounts from over 30 celebrities. In the case, Majerczyk claims that he ���sent emails to his victims that appeared to have come from internet service providers seeking usernames and passwords.” He used collected data to illegally access the private information.

Attorneys on both sides agreed to the nine-month sentence. Majerczyk’s charges carry a maximum penalty of five years in prison.

WALPOLE WINNERS: Walpole, an association for British luxury labels has announced the lineup of 12 brands that will take part in the Brands of Tomorrow program, WWD has learned. The 12 brands selected are Agi & Sam, Capstar, Helen Amy Murray, Tessa Packard, Alexandra Llewellyn, Duke & Dexter, Hillier Bartley, The New Craftsmen, Camilla Elphick, Exmoor Caviar, Rory Dobner and Troubadour Goods. The scheme, in association with Mishcon de Reya and Sloane Point Partners, is celebrating its 10-year anniversary. Recipients were chosen from a shortlist that presented their business plans to the selection panel. Each brand will be paired with an industry mentor and will attend workshops that are focused on financial planning, distribution, strategy, branding, marketing and business management. Agape Mdumulla and Sam Cotton, the design duo behind Agi & Sam said they are at a critical phase in their growth. “We are still being recognized as an emerging brand but tipping the line of semi-established,” Mdumulla said. “We need to take advantage of the attention while ensuring that we emerge and cement our place within the faculty of other established British fashion designers. Let’s get this straight. We know President Trump wants to re-negotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and undo President Obama’s executive orders regarding immigrant protection. We also know that he has moved to withdraw from the Trans-Pacific Partnership. All of this is ostensibly in support of his “America First” model. Little did we know, however, that one of the key failures of NAFTA is apparently women who come into this country and “bleed” because they “don’t have the same skills.” What?

Those quotes came from CNN’s Jeffrey Lord as he discussed trade agreements with Anderson Cooper and former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich this evening.

“It’s not just isolationism,” Reich said of President Trump’s approach to trade (and, seemingly, his approach to all of politics). “It’s Donald Trump’s assumption that the world is basically a zero sum game, in which we win only to the extent that someone else loses.” He suggested that the best way to support American workers is actually to back the unions and raise the minimum wage.

Lord disagreed. He countered with what he called “a local example” — that of his dry cleaner. This man, Lord explained, supports Trump and frequently complains about NAFTA. Why? Well:

“This is a man who is being asked to clean ladies’ garments,” Lord began to explain (don’t worry, we’re not following the argument either). “They bleed, which costs him money because he has to pay for the garment,” he continued (still not following). “The reason they bleed is because they don’t come into this country with the same skills, because of NAFTA.”

I know I’m repeating myself here, but what? Trade agreements are a bad idea because immigrant women supposedly don’t have some mysterious skills that prevent them from menstruating just like, oh I dunno, all women everywhere?

Netflix series The OA seems to have arrived from left field. The show’s premise is slightly confusing, and raises a whole host of important questions, but its source is shockingly simple.

Show star Brit Marling, who created the show alongside Zal Batmanglij, met a woman at a party. Here’s how she describes the encounter to Vulture.

“In a crowded room, [Marling] noticed a stranger standing still, unperturbed by the surrounding social chaos: ‘She had a kind of radical autonomy and awareness.’ The woman told her that she had died once, on a gurney in a hospital awaiting surgery, and that she had left her body and floated above, with a bird’s-eye POV of the hospital rooms and corridors. ‘She said she felt an interconnectivity,’ recalls Marling. ‘The only thing she thought about was, Did I tell the people I love how much I love them?'”

That’s actually an incredible moment. And lends creedence to my personal belief that a great party can change the world.

More importantly, it shows how close the show came to utter creative disaster. What if Marling had been at a party with Heaven is for Real author Colton Burpo? We would have been treated to a rainbow Jesus riding in on a unicorn. Actually, that might have been considerably better.

First, pages dedicated to LGBTQ and climate change issues were “removed” from the White House website. Then, the site’s Spanish-language version disappeared, as well. Now, it’s mention of Melania Trump’s QVC days from her site bio.

Originally, Melania Trump’s extensive bio on the White House website included the jewelry collection she launched on QVC in 2010 called Melania Timepieces and Jewelry, The Washington Post reports. (Watch a video of Melania promoting the line below.)

But after The Post published a story bringing attention to the QVC detail on Friday, the very same day the bio had been posted, it was dropped from the site. If you blinked, rubbed your eyes, or refreshed the page, it was gone.

According to The Post, the site originally said: “Melania is also a successful entrepreneur. In April 2010, Melania Trump launched her own jewelry collection, ‘Melania Timepieces & Jewelry,’ on QVC.”

The updated text reads: “Melania is also a successful entrepreneur. In April 2010, Melania Trump launched her own jewelry collection.”

Perhaps members of Trump’s public relations team thought maybe QVC wasn’t quite holding up against let’s say, Michelle Obama’s #62MillionGirls campaign, for example, which focused on education for girls? Or what about Obama’s “Let’s Move” program, an effort to end childhood obesity?

Or maybe, as The Huffington Post suggested, the mention of QVC was removed simply because Melania doesn’t have a connection with the home shopping network anymore. HuffPo reports on its site that QVC said in a statement, “At this time, QVC does not have an active relationship with the brand.”

Had Melania kept the QVC bit on her site, might she have at least gotten J Lawr to play her in the Trump family bio pic?
