Pic of the Day: Monday, March 31st and Tuesday, April 1st

Pic of the day. Luigi might be thinking, "Who would've thought I'd get to show off the Poltergust in Super Smash Bros.?!" Wondering if it's going to suck something in? Yeah, it probably will.
Well, well, well. It's about time. Well, actually, it was about time in Brawl, but there wasn't a 3DS game then so "nope.sakurai". Luigi's Final Smash, the Negative Zone, seems to have been replaced with the Poltergust. I'm totally fine with this, and most Luigi fans feel the same way. One major problem Brawl's Final Smashes had was that almost all of them were uninspired, and were attacks originally created for the game despite every character having potentially fitting abilities from their own, individual source materials. Negative Zone was one such Final Smash, and I disliked that move in particular because it played off of that awkward, dorky, and angsty vibe that Luigi has going on in Brawl.
"This technique is a reflection of the dark side he embraced in his brother's shadow." - Negative Zone trophy, Brawl
What Negative Zone essentially tells us is that Luigi's most defining trait is his "dark side". I've never liked that portrayal of the character. What dark side? In every game outside of Smash, Luigi is just as chipper and jovial as his brother. I don't understand why Sakurai plays up this "second banana" and "in his brother's shadow" angle. Before Melee, I never saw any canon indication that Luigi ever had this relationship with his brother. It hardly seemed part of his personality at all. Luigi looks noticeably more bright, cheery, and in-character this time around, luckily, and the replacement of the Negative Zone with something more befitting of his history is a pleasant side effect of that. He's still annoyingly awkward, though. Look at his official render. Show me a Mario game where he's that unorthodox.
Tumblr media
Pic of the day. This may look like a side-scrolling action game, but it's actually one of the stages.
I don't know how to feel about this, at all. Fitting, given it's April Fool's Day (curse this holiday). I'm not quite sure what it is. Most seem to assume that it's Palutena's Temple, and I sort of hope they're right about that, as I rue the thought of two Kid Icarus stages - based on the 3DS game no less - on the Wii U version. At the same time, that sunny, pleasant-looking Palutena's Temple stage we've seen before would've been so nice to fight on without transitioning into yet another dark fortress of sorts. The aesthetic qualities seen in earlier Palutena's Temple pics are one of the major reasons I've been preferring it to the Reset Bomb Forest stage on the 3DS. Well, I suppose it's nice to finally get more info on the stage, if this is indeed the Temple.
Others have proposed that this is a part of Stage Builder, and I'd be pretty stoked for that to be true. A Stage Builder this improved, with backgrounds, ceilings, hazards, and detailed textures and infrastructure pieces, would be a dream come true. This is why I doubt it is Stage Builder, though. Still, that stock Stage Builder spring does seem out of place on a themed stage.
EDIT: I had forgotten that Rumble Falls had these same generic springs. Can you really blame me for that?
At first glance, this stage also resembles the Arbiter's Grounds from Twilight Princess. Yes, that's exactly what I hope it is. I'd love another stage from that game, especially a location as memorable as the Arbiter's Grounds. It's too bad that this is highly unlikely. It's probably a phase of the Palutena's Temple stage we've already seen.

Pic of the day. Oh, Uncle Andross. He really isn't very considerate.
We're continuing on. We should be expecting the next update in a few hours, so let's get right into it. On Thursday, yet another veteran Assist Trophy was revealed to us. It's Andross! Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm quite confident that this is the first piece of Star Fox content we've seen at all, after Fox himself. Once again, Andross reprises his polygonal form from Star Fox on the SNES, so he hardly looks different from his Brawl appearance, though the lighting on him is noticeably improved. It's likely he'll behave just as he did before, shooting out squares from the background to bombard the players with hazards. Andross was one of my favorite ATs to appear in Brawl, so I'm glad to see him return, and now he'll be side-by-side with Mother Brain...What? You don't ship it?
Tumblr media
Pic of the day. Here's the Prism Tower stage for the 3DS version! The battle begins on ground level right in front of the tower.
Well, first thing's first. I was wrong. You see, I had assumed from the vague reveal of this stage that it was going to be "Lumiose City", but apparently it's just the Prism Tower that hosts the stage. This is pretty disappointing, considering a tour of the whole city would've been nice to see. Quite bluntly, I didn't really find any of Pokémon X/Y's locations to be all that fitting for a stage, and I was hoping they'd just glance over those games and pull something from Generation V instead. Oh well.
Anyway, this update gives us multiple pictures, as Sakurai explains the way the stage works, much as he did with the Super Mario 3D Land stage. It looks like the battle starts pretty simply, setting the fighters on a flat surface with walk-off edges and no hazards or even platforms. I'd compare this to the beginning section of Halberd.
Tumblr media
You'll have to climb the tower by securing footholds like these moving platforms!
It looks like this random, levitating platform takes the players on a sort of sky-high "tour" of the tower, in a manner similar to Delfino Plaza. At least, that's what I thought at first. The platform seems large and thick enough to serve as a "main" surface of sorts, but Sakurai's commentary and the following picture suggests something else.
Tumblr media
By the time you reach the top, the sun is already setting. The view from up there is quite a treat.
What appear to be additional platforms help to suggest that this stage functions more like Icicle Mountain and Rumble Falls. If so, it appears that this may end up as the new, universally-hated "vertically scrolling" stage. Well, at least there are no apparent hazards, such as in Rumble Falls (curse that spike). This picture also takes place during sunset. Combined with the bright daylight of the above pictures and the nighttime picture shown earlier, we can assume that the stage has a time-shifting cycle, much like Battlefield. Fitting enough, I suppose, given that Pokémon X/Y also makes use of this feature, albeit in real time.
To be quite honest, I'm really not digging this stage, or most any of the 3DS stages, but this is probably one of the better-looking ones. The Prism Tower never stuck out to me as incredibly iconic or even important, however. I think a tour of the entire city would've been a little bit more fun. Imagine seeing people walking around, sitting in front of cafes, while Gogoat traverse the streets. I just think it would've been a lot more fun and lively. Oh well. I guess we'll just have to see the stage in action. Footage always looks better than photos. I'm really craving some footage right now. So many stages have been revealed, but for most of them, we have no real footage.

Considering that Lucario's in(insert slowpoke meme here), how do you feel over Genesect/Mewtwo's chances?
I wouldn't worry about Mewtwo at all. While I'm never going to say anyone is guaranteed, I'm more confident about Mewtwo than just about any character. Lucario doesn't hurt his chances at all. Remember that data suggests Mewtwo was going to be included in Brawl alongside Lucario, but was scrapped, most likely due to time constraints. Mewtwo is far more prominent in the Pokémon series now than he was during Brawl's development, and the fan outrage at his removal was thunderous. There's no real way he can be ignored now, since he's possibly the most demanded character in the world. However, I do think that chances are very high that he'll appear in the form of Mega Mewtwo Y, and probably with his female voice from the Genesect movie and a re-hauled moveset so that Sakurai can pass him off as a legitimate "newcomer" for marketing purposes.
While on the subject of Genesect, I'd say its chances aren't that great. It never took off as a fan favorite Pokémon in the same way that Lucario and Mewtwo did - unfortunate, since I like it best out of the three. I doubt they'd have chosen it to represent and/or market the movie, since Mewtwo is more demanded by far and does the same thing, even taking prominence over Genesect in the movie itself. The real nail in Genesect's coffin, however, is the simple fact that Pokémon characters will probably reach a point where they are overabundant in this game. If we consider a scenario in which no Pokémon are cut from Brawl while Mewtwo rejoins the roster, that leaves us with 6 roster slots, and 7 Pokémon in all: Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Pokémon Trainer (Squirtle, Ivysaur, Charizard), Lucario, and Mewtwo. That's an insane amount of representation for one series, beating out Mario unless you count Wario, Yoshi, and the DK characters. My personal belief is that there will be no true Pokémon "newcomer". We'll simply keep our Brawl cast while receiving a touched-up Mewtwo. The fact that Mewtwo is so demanded, in conjunction with the relatively low likelihood of any Brawl Pokémon to be cut (though I think that the Trainer may be considered simply due to time/effort constraints, sadly), really neuters any sort of chances most other newcomers from that series have of becoming playable.
Thanks for the question. I hope I answered it clearly without rambling too much.

Pic of the day. Here's a comparison of characters with and without their outlines on the 3DS version. They also give off a different impression in 3D, so customize the look however you like.
Y'know, I didn't get around to talking about this yesterday because, well, I just didn't care enough to give an immediate response. With this PotD, Sakurai simply reaffirms something we already knew about the 3DS version. Not very interesting, if you ask me. It's nice that we can change the thickness of the outlines, and I'm glad to find out that the characters seem to look just fine when they're removed completely, but this isn't really anything exciting. For me in particular, at least, since I'm not interested in the 3DS version.
Tumblr media
Pic of the day. Here's a giant attack item, the Ore Club! It's made of minerals mined on the mountain of the gods. This bulky weapon can even unleash tornadoes.
Here's something I didn't expect to see. Another Kid Icarus item. To be quite honest, I don't see the appeal in having another large, bludgeoning weapon when we've already got the Home-Run Bat, Beam Sword, Hammer, etc. Add on to that the fact that I've never heard of this thing until today, and it's another pretty unimpressive update in my eyes. But hey, at least we got something new. To be honest, I'm more interested in the fact that we got another picture of that Wii U Kid Icarus stage. Hopefully we see more of it soon.

Miiverse Response: Monday, March 24th
Hey y'all. If you actually still follow this blog, you might have noticed that I published a submission last week. Shocker, I know right? I actually got a submission. Anyway, that was intended to let everyone know that I'm not dead, and I decided to dust this blog off because speculation is still relevant even as the game is in the pre-release marketing process. There's still tons to think about, and I think the Miiverse pictures (which have become generally more interesting over time) provide a good subject to talk about. So, I'll be giving my own two cents on the daily Miiverse pictures from here on out. So let's get started with today's pic.
Tumblr media
Pic of the day. Never bully Cuccos. Seriously, attacking them is out of the question! This has always been a cardinal rule of The Legend of Zelda series.
So, Cuccos make their belated Smash debut. Even though it's a simply update, I'm pretty satisfied with this. I've always thought they'd make an interesting item of some sort. Another blog covered the idea before. Every person that's ever played a Zelda game will remember these bad boys, as I'm sure everyone who's ever played a Zelda game has tried attacking them. That begs the question, though. Surely the Cucco's trademark aggressiveness will be on display here, but how will players go about provoking that? Is it an item, like Mr. Saturn, or an Assist Trophy? I think that an item would be more prone to being idle until attacked, while an Assist Trophy might attack the enemy upon spawning, or perhaps even follow the summoner around and repel those who get too near or try to attack them. I think it'd be a nice touch of the Cucco, assuming it is an Assist Trophy, also retaliate their rage upon the summoner if they are attacked by them.

Heart Bottle
The Heart bottle from Origins and Legends could also be an item, it would nullify damage from three attacks and then breaks  (0 hits , 1 hit :l, 2 hits , 3 hits breaks apart).

Have you tried having Character Bosses?
What do you mean by "character bosses"? I assume you're referring to bosses that are also playable characters? I never really considered discussing the possibility of those. It's not that they aren't possible, but they are more difficult to truly portray as an actual boss.

These three characters, Villager, Mega Man and Wii Fit Trainer I would say that I like them chose to put them in the game. I look forward to their handle. I would also like to say something else. How would you feel, Mother Brain from Super Metroid as Boss?
Villager is my favorite of the trio. He has a very interesting moveset that is really unlike anything we've seen in Smash before. He's a possible main and Day 1 try for me. Megaman also looks really cool, but I probably won't use him much.
I would love to have Mother Brain as a boss, especially if Ridley becomes playable. Mother Brain is the next most iconic boss in the series, save for possibly Kraid and Dark Samus.

Waluigi
Size: 3/5 Weight: 2/5  Speed: 3.5/5 Damage Potential: 4.5 /5 KO Power: 2/5 Jump Ability: 5/5  Range: 3/5  # of Jumps: 3 Wall Jump: Yes Wall Cling: Yes Glide: No  Crawl: No Special Ability: Snaking – Waluigi can cancel a dodge roll he is performing, any length into the dodge, into another dodge roll of the opposite direction twice. Doing this however disables dodge rolling for 5 seconds after the dodge roll is complete.
A: Waluigi jabs his pointer finger forward a short distance dealing 3% with low knockback. Ledge A: Pulls himself up with a front flip, stomping on anybody near the edge deals 4% and lightly knocks affected enemies straight upward. Ledge A >100%: After struggling for a moment Waluigi tosses an eggplant onto the stage to clear the way. Deals 3% and knocks enemies straight backward a medium distance. Dash Attack: Making a full spin Waluigi produces a tennis racquet from seemingly nowhere and smacks enemies at the end of this spin. He travels forward with his full dash speed during the spin and stops abruptly with his serve. Deals 7% and some knockback at a high angle. The hitbox only extends from Waluigi’s lower body sweeping in front of him, which means he’s vulnerable from the back or side. FTilt: Waluigi performs a chest pass with a basketball that wasn’t there a moment ago. The basketball only travels a short distance, which is about one of the floating platforms on Battlefield, Pokemon Stadium, etc. If struck by the flying ball enemies are dealt 9% damage and launched straight backwards a fair distance. Crouch cancelling would be effective against this. This move both starts and ends abruptly, so punishing it may be difficult. UTilt: Stretching out to his full height and onto his tiptoes Waluigi performs a header. Works much like Peach’s Uptilt from Melee. Deals 8% with low knockback but also can be used very rapidly with little chance to be punished. DTilt: Waluigi stomps the ground a short distance ahead of him, much like he does currently as an assist trophy. This attack deals 3% and no knockback to enemies struck while standing or otherwise unimpaired but it does have a decent amount of hitstun, not leaving Waluigi totally open. Grounded or downed enemies take triple damage. Fsmash: Firmly grasping a purple baseball bat Waluigi begins pulling back for a powerful blow, only to realize he actually hits enemies harder the less he charges! This attack deals anywhere from 13% down to 7% with medium knockback down to low knockback. If struck directly with the Waluigi Emblem the bat is marked with, struck enemies take an additional 5% damage and are in hitstun slightly longer. This attack can reflect projectiles. Usmash: Waluigi squats down even more than usual, trembling a bit while he focuses his strength, then unleashes a mighty jumping punch! The more he charges this move the higher he jumps with it. He fully extends one arm above him and stops on the first enemy or object struck, dealing anywhere from 8% to 17% with medium to high knockback. A good killing move that may have some difficulty in being landed. After striking an enemy midair Waluigi can act again with more attacks in the air and retains two of his three jumps. DSmash: Making use of his height Waluigi reels back before performing an arcing punch downwards. Enemies struck by this attack are knocked down and left prone to more punishment. This attack has very short range, but the knockdown cannot be teched. He deals anywhere from 6% to 13% damage with this technique. Nair:  He swings both of his legs forward to do a flying dropkick. Standing enemies hit by the initial hitbox will be stunned for half a second and receive no knockback. Enemies in the air are pushed a decent distance away from Waluigi. Either way this attack deals 9% damage initially and then 4% after he legs come to a rest. If an enemy stunned by this attack is struck by this move a second time they instead receive an average amount of knockback from this attack. Fair: Pulling a 9 Iron from behind his back he swings downwards with all his might. Enemies struck by the sole of the club are meteor spiked and receive a huge 13% damage. Enemies struck by the shaft are knocked slightly forward and take 6% damage. Bair: Waluigi magnificently twirls an Olympic ribbon behind him this propels him forward slightly faster and damages enemies behind him with 1-3% slashing damage several times with no knockback. Uair: Performs a clap above his head. Deals a meager 4% damage with next to no knockback, but has little endlag. Dair: Flipping himself over and getting into a sitting position Waluigi forces himself downwards. This attack is a meteor against anybody it hits but it also propels him downward, making it not the safest option. As soon as this move is used however, all of Waluigi’s other momentum is canceled allowing use of it to prevent star Kos. Enemies caught directly beneath his bony behind on the ground are grounded. If he hits an enemy midair he bounces off of them after the attack connects, allowing him a chance to recover. Deals 9% damage. This move has a decent recovery time, so use it wisely. Grab: Reaches out with his lanky arms. Decently ranged grab with little cooldown. Pummel: Punches the enemy right in their face, aiming for the nose. 2% Fthrow: Huh? Want de ball? HERE! AHAHAHAH! Just like when taunting his enemies in Super Mario Strikers Charged Waluigi assaults an enemy with a soccer ball to the face. Deals 7% and knocks enemies along the ground a short distance. The soccer ball disappears as soon as the animation with it is finished. Bthrow: Waluigi grabs his enemies by the legs and begins spinning around. While spinning Waluigi can be directed to the left or right to alter where the enemy is released from. Deals 8% with medium knockback. Uthrow: Using both arms Waluigi takes an enemy and hurls them upward with all his might, which isn’t much. The enemy is sent a meager distance upward and takes 5% damage. Dthrow: Taking his enemy into his hand like a ball he winds up a powerful pitch and sends his enemy careening across the field in a powerful throw. Deals 13% and sends the enemy flying straight forward from Waluigi’s position for a decent length. Neutral Special: Rose Whip – Waluigi pulls out his whip and snaps it ahead of him. Any items caught near the end of the whip’s length will be brought back to Waluigi and any equip or weapon type items will be automatically equipped or picked up. The whip has a hitbox above him while he swings it forward, though it isn’t as strong as the snap. The weaker hitbox deals 4-6% and very low knockback while the snap deals 9-11% and light knockback. This move can be angled slightly upward while on the ground, and slightly upward or downward if being used in the air. Side Special: Eggplant Pitch – Waluigi winds up for a moment before launching a double eggplant ball! Enemies directly struck by this are lightly poisoned for 7% over the course of 3 seconds and further take 6% upfront damage. The ball travels rather slowly however, so it’s predictable and deals low knockback. Up Special: Megastrike Jump – Upon pressing Up B a gauge appears next to Waluigi, your timing on this gauge determines both how high Waluigi jumps and how much damage it does. The gauge is identical to the Megastrike Gauge’s first part in both appearance and functionality. Pressing B a second time activates the move. Landing in the yellow acts as a 4th jump with no followup attack. The Orange acts as a higher jump than normal followed by smacking a single projectile downwards with his whip. The Red acts as a jump even higher than the Super Dedede jump (without the armor though) and launches 3 projectiles at a high speed and slightly different angles from each other with the whip. Landing in the gray puts Waluigi into a helpless state and nothing else takes place. The projectiles disappear upon first contact with any character, item, or surface. Orange deals 9% with light knockback and Reds deal 14% each with high knockback. Down Special: Wheelie – Jumping on a bike that appears from nowhere Waluigi quickly revs to a high speed and performs a wheelie. Unlike Wario’s bike this bike continues going even after Waluigi jumps off until it either hits a wall and explodes or rolls off stage. Being struck directly by the bike deals 12% damage and knocks the enemy at a 45 degree angle with decent hitstun. If used midair this move pushes Waluigi forward but also weighs him down considerably. Waluigi cannot grab the ledge while riding the bike and jumping off of the bike midair expends one of his recovery jumps and the jump is lower than normal. Final Smash: Walluigi – Waluigi’s running and air speeds are increased immensely and as he moves he leaves behind a trail. This trail passively damages enemies who stand in it, slow their movement, and increase their endlag on all attacks. This trail deals 6% a second and lasts for 4 seconds after Waluigi has passed the area. Spot dodges and dodge rolling do not avoid damage from the poisonous wall. Waluigi may pass through these areas he has left behind unimpaired. Up Taunt: Punches his fist together before pumping them into the air and snickering. Side Taunt: Laughs and wipes his eyes before calling his enemies losers. Down Taunt:

How would you feel if there are characters in the game? Zael (The Last Story), Aeron (Pandora's Tower), Black Shadow (F-Zero series), Mike Anderson (Battle Clash), Bomberman (Bomberman series), Heracles (Glory of Heracles series), Captain Rainbow (Captain Rainbow), Dillon (Dillon's Rolling Western), Tempo (Harmo Knight)
You've put me in a tight spot with a lot of these more obscure character choices.
Zael - I've never played The Last Story, so I wouldn't really be affected much.
Aeron - Same with Zael.
Black Shadow - I'd be surprised, but it'd be pretty cool. Especially if he wasn't a Captain Falcon clone.
Mike Anderson - Now there's an obscure choice. Honestly, I'd feel like he'd be a better pick for an Assist Trophy. Hmm...
Bomberman - I'd never believe my eyes. Hudson Soft is now defunct, and Konami owns the rights to the franchise. Since I don't see Konami getting two guest characters, I'd be pretty bummed since I like Snake and Metal Gear more.
Heracles - Once again, I'd just be surprised, since Nintendo only had anything to do with the sixth game. It's a franchise they acquired, not something they created, so I highly doubt they'd ever even consider including Heracles. Nintendo barely recognizes their second-party franchises, so I'd be surprised if we saw anything related to Glory of Heracles in Smash.
Captain Rainbow - Eh, I honestly wouldn't like himself. He's Japan-only, from a single game. I'd rather see Chibi Robo if a Skip character is included.
Dillon - Dillon could certainly be unique. My problem with him is that I feel he lacks that "All-Star" status, but at this point, with Wii Fit Trainer, I'm not sure that matters anymore. I imagine him being sort of like Emmett Graves in Playstation All-Stars, with the ability to summon bunkers and towers to provide him with great stage control. He could be fun, I'll give him that. I definitely want to see him as an AT. If he can make a name for himself, I'd certainly like to play as him.
Tempo - Highly doubt this one. Game Freak's last attempt at making a game not involving Pokémon was Drill Dozer, and Jill, its protagonist, was just an Assist Trophy in Brawl. I don't think Harmo would be any different. But again, after Wii Fit Trainer, I think anything is possible at this point.
Thanks for the question.

I'm new and I have my mind some characters you would like to see, even if Assist Trophies: Zael (The Last Story)Aeron (Pandora's Tower), Black Shadow (F-Zero series), Mike Anderson (Battle Clash), Bomberman (Bomberman series), Heracles (Glory of Heracles series)
I can't promise I'll be making any movesets (don't count it out either), but I salute you for mentioning Glory of Heracles.

How do you feel about WiiFit Trainer being included? I think she can be an interesting and engaging character and while some are skeptical or even downright disapproving of her inclusion, I think it's just like R.O.B. since she's a Nintendo peripheral character. Just curious what you guys thought!
I personally (incoming: unpopular opinion) don't like her. I'm cool with anyone who likes her (unless they're the type to gloat about it and troll Ridley fans), and I'm not against having the Wii series represented by a playable character, but I'd rather have a Mii if that was the intention behind including her. Miis could represent and pull from all of the Wii series games, whereas WFT only references the Wii Fit games specifically. In addition, I have no idea why she wasn't just chosen to be an assist trophy. She could've forced everyone to do exercises and leave them open for attack by the summoner, for example. I think her inclusion is a result of Sakurai taking the game in a less serious and more comical route than Brawl (which I don't mind at all), like with the Villager, but in her particular case, it just feels like a joke that's funny at first, but will be old the next day, and leave people wondering why they didn't choose a more notable newcomer instead.
She works as the "peripheral character" I suppose, though I was much more accepting of Game & Watch and ROB because of their legacies; I would've preferred a more historical character, personally. If she really is the "peripheral character", then that leaves me wondering why she was revealed so early. The past two instances were among the very last reveals and were unlockable characters. Maybe they have something else planned?
I guess the thing about her that really leaves a bad taste in my mouth is her early reveal. First impressions are important, especially when trying to sell a product. I see a joke character as one of the first revealed, and it gives me the impression that the rest of the roster will be a joke. I wouldn't have minded her nearly as much if she were a later reveal, but right now a lot of people (myself included) are hoping for Isaac or King K. Rool or Little Mac, and the fact that a nameless character that nobody asked for was revealed instead kind of gives off a few warning signals. That being said, we were fortunate enough to see Villager and Megaman, so I still have high hopes for future reveals. As a character all her own, I probably won't ever use her, but I probably won't ever use Megaman either, judging both by their playstyles.
Hope that answers your question. Thanks!

Assist Trophy: Urban Champion
Tumblr media
The Urban Champion is the nameless hero from his retroactively eponymous title, released in 1984. Deriving its gameplay from Punch-Out! for Game & Watch, it was Nintendo's first 2D fighting game on home consoles. How fitting would it be for the developer's first fighter to show up in their all-star fighting series?...Oh, you want an answer? I thought that question was already pretty evident. The answer is "very".
Urban Champion, or Urb, as I will henceforth refer to him, is a plucky young man; a surly pedestrian with an insatiable and unexplained penchant for beating up strangers who look an awful lot like him, only with different hair and clothing colors. The goal in his game was to walk along the city street and beat back encountered opponents by knocking them into an open manhole. When Urb appears from an Assist Trophy, he'd reflect that trend. Rendered in 3D pixel art, he'd spawn on-sight, then begin walking forward toward an opponent, delivering his choppy one-two punches. His goal would be to push the opponent off of the stage and into the bottomless pit (or blast zone, when on a walk-off stage), substituting them for his beloved manholes. Just like in the original game, Urb would deliver two types of attacks: his light punch and his heavy punch. As with its original use, the light punch wouldn't push the opponent, but it'd be a great shield-poker, making the simple AI of the character a bit less easy to avoid. The heavy punch would push the opponent back about one character space. Both attacks would have high hit-stun, and coupled with the difficulty in shielding the light punch, players could very well find themselves unable to escape Urb's pugnacious punching, and be beaten back off the ledge. Of course, while they may suffer some damage, once off the ledge, there's not much Urb can do to prevent them from recovering. If only Urban Champion had given him a meteor smash animation.
