6 BEST WORK BOOTS FOR TILE SETTERS, PRINCETON
Are you looking for the best work boots for tile setters? Getting a good pair of shoes need not be difficult, but if your work ends up destroying your best buys, maybe you need to consider what actually is the best for you and your work.
Tile setting is a task that requires a lot of manual labor. You have to work with some heavy tools at times, if not always, have to continuously walk on slippery surfaces, and walk on the gravel surface prior to the tile setting. Even the tile setting job itself requires a lot of pressure on the shoes.
As you kneel or bend while working, your shoes surface a great deal of pressure as your toes are curled. The stress is then spread out to the heels of the boots and even the outsoles. All in all, your work demands a lot from you and your work boots.
Hence, this results in quick wear in the toe area along with excruciating pain in the foot. Along with magnifying the problem of previous injuries, ill-fitting and non-specialty boots can lead to slippage and injuries.
While good quality boots might run you for a few months, only the very best tile setting work boots will last you a long time. In fact, these boots come with an excellent non-slip grip that ensures no slipping on the tiled surface, and also right outsoles that run for a long time without wearing off.
Luckily, you’ve come to the right place as this guide will help you find the best work boots for a tile setter. But first, let us consider some features of these work boots.
Features to Look for in Tile Setter Boots
1.) Waterproof membrane
There is nothing worse than getting some liquid into your shoes while working, especially as you set tiles. Boots that absorb water prove to be a great nuisance. A waterproof membrane in work boots for tile setters can help shield your feet against any liquid while you finish the flooring process.
Remember, despite the waterproof membrane; the shoes should be breathable enough for fresh, irritation-free feet. Hence, look for shoes with a fast-dry lining.
2.) Safety Toes
Skilled workers deal with an abundance of daily hazards, and the only thing to save you against a misfortunate incident is your protective gear.
Your work shoes should come with steel toes, preferably unsymmetrical, to safeguard you against any potential ill-happenings. The metal housing of the isolated toes protects against tiling tools and shoe wear and tear.
3.) Electrical hazard protection
While we are talking about hazards, why not eliminate all the possible ones you could come across. Tile setting work comes with limited electrical exposure, but it is always best to be prepared rather than be sorry.
Shoes with electrical hazard protection shield you from any live wires or electrical short circuits. Hence, you can accomplish your flooring work without a worry.

How to Tell If Shoes Are Slip Resistant?
Slip-resistant shoes are the best when it comes to save-guarding your hard-earned money on medical bills. Hospice or health care centers are the ones who benefit from your lack of expertise and frugality.
Saving is not a bad having but pinching pennies on things that put your safety in question it is not a great idea. You must know how to tell if shoes are slip-resistant as upon it lay the burden of your safety.
The slip-resistant shoes are a must for people working in dire conditions giving them the additional safety and security that is otherwise missing. Here are a few perils of that may plague you for not getting slip-resistant boots –
Risks of NOT having Slip Resistant Boots
1.) Getting Tripped
It is one of the most potential perils that cause many a roofer to visit a hospice if they are not careful enough. You may trip over anything from loose debris to materials, leaves, branches, and even small stones!
Getting Tripped
The big thing is that all these are potential tripping hazards that may lead you to break your neck if you do not have slip-resistant boots to support you. If you do not wish to end up in a hospice it is best to buy this preventive measure!
2.) Perilous Weather
It always pays to keep a careful eye out for capricious weather conditions. Often you may counter the extremes from cold to heat, from snow to hail, from light to heavy rain but that does not mean you should fall prey to it.
Perilous Weather
By investing in the right pair of boots you can ensure that a change of climate you do not affect and trouble you at all!
3.) Slippery Surfaces
The slippery surfaces also promote a great hazard. In a rainy climate, the roof is supposed to be drenched with water. If the water does not get dried up within the limited period a layer of moss starts growing up.
Slippery Surfaces
Without proper measures, an accident is bound to happen that may be avoided by investing in a proper pair of slip-resistant boots.
4.) Electrical Hazard
It may not seem much but there is a high chance of getting electrocuted up for some when they are working, especially if the work in construction or electricity. Without the right pair of protection in place, you are vulnerable to get struck by lightning or electric line.
electrical-safety
You may also get electrocuted by an electric socket while working. But by investing in the slip-resistant boots you would be able to just get off with minor injuries and without a visit to the medical emergency unit.
How to Recognise Slip-resistant Shoes?
Now that we have established how perilous it is for you to buy a pair of shoes that are not slip-resistant, it is time to learn how to recognize and buy them. Sellers may just put a tag on the shoe to be slip-resistant if it means that they get to sell it.
But not every shoe can claim the title of being slip-resistant! Here are a few checker pints to keep in mind before buying a slip-resistant shoe.
1.) Tread Check
Treads come in very handy when it comes to detecting slip and oil resistant. Most people do not realize how easy it is to recognize types of shoes through their tread marks. Most treads come in different shapes making it somewhat easy to recognize the shoe type as a singular tread pattern is used in different shoes.
treads in slip-resistant shoes
The treads in slip-resistant shoes come in the shape of circles or hexagons. These shapes are used to ensure that the treads can move when it comes to moving the liquid out of the shoe to prevent you from slipping or falling. The smaller or bigger tread shapes, when manufactured in the large qualities, works best when it comes to prevention of slips.
2.) The Revealing Soles
Just by examining the shape of the shoe sole you would be able to recognize the type of shoes that a seller is offering you. It may seem far-fetched but simply ensuring that the sole of your boots is flat edged you can denote that it is a slip-resistant one.
The reasoning behind it is that flat-edged soles can trap the liquid under your shoe makes you slide proof, much like the tires of the car in the rain. To ensure that you have the right pair to ensure that you have the round side soles.
3.) Putting the Grooves in Question
You may associate a tractor tire to grooves but it plays a mighty hand in differentiating the slip-resistant shoes with the ordinary ones. Slip-resistant shoes have grooves that keep the wearer in an upright position throughout the day.
shoe soles with grooves
This is very much possible because shoe soles with grooves put in them create and support the flexibility of the different shoe parts. This makes them less likely to trap in water in the inside. With the assistance of grooves present in the shoes, it is possible to channelize the liquid out of the sole while keeping you safe.
4.) Test the Bottom
It is probably one of the easiest ways to find out whether or not a certain pair of shoes works for them. It is quite simple to check out the hardness of the soles. You do not want soles that are too hard as it makes them non-malleable.
rubbery soles would stick to the ground better
If the shoe worn by you is not suitable to your conditions then it is not the one for you. Look for a rubber sole. This is primarily because the rubbery soles would stick to the ground better than others. This is possible because the sole is far more pliable as rubber is soft rather than rigidity and hardness that is the copyright of more expensive party wears.
5.) Take them on a Test Drive
Well, you do it with your car why not the same with your shoe do! If you find a shoe with seemingly right qualities it is time to put it to test. You may not be able to find a patch of wet flooring but the ultra-shiny floors of polished wood and linoleum to walk around in.
notice of how your foot moves on the polished surface
While you walk around to try to take notice of how your foot moves on the polished surface. Slide if you have too! While you are sliding ensure that your foot stays in place despite all the sliding on the floor.
If you cannot find the polished floor try to find a bench to sit and run your hand on the sole. This way you would be able to get a better understanding of the sleekness of the shoe. Remember if it is too sleek it is not the one for you.
6.) Online Shoes
If you are someone who loves getting stuff from online at a discount then things might not be as easy. It is impossible to find out the level of the sleekness of the shoe. Since you cannot touch it manually it is important to read through all the reviews before buying it.
Another thing that might be helpful is reading through the description of the shoe that is written description provided by the online store on the web-page. It is not the most trusted bit of information but reading it would give you the needed information that you require to decide between buying the shoe.

Does Regular Shirt Work as Undershirt for Sweating
Undershirts actually originated from the Union Suit, that the then men used to wear beneath their regular shirts or suits in order to protect their skin from the itchy and not so comfortable styling fabric and also to keep themselves cool and to keep away sweat and odor!
As the name suggests, undershirts are meant to be worn under your regular shirts to give you the feeling of comfort and to prevent as well as soak up sweat as they are made of breathable fabric like cotton. While you cannot wear an undershirt as an outerwear, similarly the regular shirts too can’t be worn as an undershirt for sweating unless and until they are made of moisture wicking fabric.
Still, if you are confused wondering does regular shirt work as an undershirt for sweating, let me get your facts correct in this article.
To know more in detail, keep scrolling…
Difference Between a Regular shirt and an Undershirt
To be straight on point, a regular work shirt or t-shirt is what you wear on the outer as outerwear and an undershirt is more like that you wear beneath the regular shirt.
An undershirt fits tight to the skin, more sort of a body hugging thing whereas; a t-shirt serves to enhance your look and style.
Let’s talk about the differences in details:
1.) Thickness of the material:
As undershirts are meant to be worn underneath your regular shirt, they are much thinner and lighter than regular shirts. Regular shirts on the other hand are made of thicker fabric and might be light or heavy depending on the material of which it is made of.
2.) Material:
Undershirts are generally made of very light and breathable fabric like cotton that absorbs sweat and also allows airflow within the body to keep you cool. Regular shirts on the other hand can be made of any material like cotton, nylon, silk, wool, rayon, etc.
3.) Sweat prevention:
As I have mentioned earlier, undershirts are made of breathable fabric that not only allows air flow that keeps away sweat, but also soaks up sweat in case your body gets heated up.
4.) Length:
Undershirts are generally longer than regular shirts because they are to be tucked in inside the pants. Regular shirts on the other hand can be short or long depending on the style of the shirt; whether formal or informal respectively.
5.) Fit:
Regular shirts can be of tight fit depending on the style you choose, but undershirts are only of tight fit because they need to act as a barrier between the body and the outer shirt to keep you comfortable and cool all day long.
6.) Sleeve length:
The sleeve length of the regular shirts may vary ranging from the half sleeve or full sleeve. But undershirts generally come in sleeveless designs; only in rare cases, you might want to search for the short-sleeved ones.
Can you wear regular shirt as an undershirt for sweating?
Though the obvious answer to the question is a BIG NO! Yet, there are certain points you need to know in case you want to wear your regular shirt as an undershirt for sweating.
Undershirts serve the following requirements:
They are to be tight fit. In other words, they need to be body hugging
They are made of breathable fabric
They are made of moisture wicking fabric
They are generally sleeveless so that do not deform the style of your outerwear
They are not collared, so that they do not show up above your outerwear
They are made of soft and comfortable fabric
They are usually longer in length so that you can tuck them in inside your pants
Now, regular shirts do not necessarily fulfill all the above mentioned requirements and if your shirt does, go and wear them as your undershirt!
And even if you might find some points matching, still there will be the following shortcomings:
Regular shirts will never be sleeveless
Regular shirts will not have that deeply cut neck that eases out its way to be worn as an undershirt so that when you wear your outerwear, it does not pop up
Even if your regular shirts would be made of breathable fabric and would soak up sweat, the sweat that is the wet appearance would be shown to the world, which is not the case with undershirts. Undershirts will hide the sweat from the world

Full Brim Hard Hats Vs. Hard Hat Caps: Which One You Should Buy?
Despite increasing lookout for occupational safety and health during the past century, an estimated 317 million non-fatal occupational injuries and 321,000 occupation fatalities occur globally each year, making 151 workers sustain a work-related accident every 15 seconds according to ILO 2013 (International Labour Organization).
Most of these accidents take place due to the absence of safety gears worn by workers. One of the most important gears of safety is head protection accessory comprising of Full Brim Hard Hats and Cap Style Hard Hat. Moreover, head, being the most important part of a body, safety and protection is needed to be top-notch and uncompromising.

Is An Alloy Toe the Same as Steel Toe?
What is Steel Toe?
Steel toe has been a traditional form of choice for protective workwear. The hardened steel material used in these is pretty convincing for safety boots, especially for those involved in the wood industry. They form a reliable sort of protection which is the top thing one expects before buying a pair of safety shoes.
Steel toes are specially designed safety-toe protective footwear, wherein the front is designed with steel caps; this is to ensure protection to the wearer against any kind of injury. When added to low insulation footwear, the steel toe works on enhancing the insulation to an appreciable level.
What is Alloy Toe?
In recent times, people have started to switch their perspective from Steel to Alloy’s toe and it has gained quite a loyalty in the protective footwear industry. They are expected to be as strong as steel. However, certain differences make it a superior choice and worth considering over the traditional steel toe. The material and the components used in Alloy toe, and its construction differs fairly from what you get in the Steel ones. They are extremely lightweight, easy on your foot.
This is because they are made up of a combination of titanium, aluminum, and other lightweight materials. This is what makes alloy toes extremely friendly to wear. A worker can wear it all day long without feeling a thing. For temporary workers, inspection planting tours, having these safety boots will make sense , but considering they are a bit pricy over steel toe.
Pros & Cons of Steel & Alloy Toe:
STEEL: PROS
· The top-notch safety and hazard protection in the industrial and construction business.
· The wearer gets to experience the strongest, most possible protection available.
· Toe gets thinner than that of the composite ones, thus making it less bulky and thereby preferable boots.
· It is pretty affordable and goes well for even a tight budget.
STEEL: CONS
· Sometimes steel might act like cages on your feet and can be a bit irritating and itchy.
· Not recommended for an electrician as steel conducts electricity, therefore, can turn into a dangerous scenario.
· It is heavy as compared to that of the Alloy toes.
· You might feel a bit cold in the winter.
ALLOY: PROS
· Made up of extremely lightweight material providing a satisfactory experience to your foot.
· Ensures more comfortable wear and comes with an attractive design.
· Way too thinner than that of the steel toe.
· 50% lighter in weight as compared to the Steel toe.
· More room for the toe as it is pretty spacious.
ALLOY: CONS
· It is slightly expensive than that of the steel toe.
· Not very strong as compared to steel which makes it unfit for industrial work.
· Set off the metal detectors.
Is An Alloy Toe the Same as Steel Toe?
Now that we know the exact difference between a Steel toe and an Alloy toe, we know that they are not the same. Although the purpose of both is pretty the same- to protect the wearer. Both have their own advantages and disadvantages.

Now that we know the exact difference between a Steel toe and an Alloy toe, we know that they are not the same. Although the purpose of both is pretty the same- to protect the wearer. Both have their own advantages and disadvantages.
It totally depends upon the budget you can afford, the occupation you are dealing with, and your prevailing work conditions. For more hazardous and industrial work that involves falling of objects, and working with sharp objects, it is best to go for steel toes.
While working in a manufacturing industry, which requires lots of moving around, lifting and going here and there, and also more standing, a comfortable Alloy toe will be a better option. The thinner nature of Alloy makes it better for the wearer to walk, roam, work effortlessly while feeling nothing.
Remember, there is no comparison between the two as each has its own specialty and is favorable under certain conditions.
So, which one to choose?
Well, earlier, you might have been confused as to which one to choose. Now that you have come this far, you might have made a clear mind in deciding which is ideal. Here are a few points that can provide you sufficient clarity:
· Ask yourself, which type of risks are you exposed to at the workplace? If you are often exposed to a lot of danger of the falling of any object, equipment, or machinery’ undoubtedly, Steels will be your best pick.
· If you are the one who loses temper and kicks any object around, especially heavy objects, you will probably have a better choice with the steel undeniably.
· Are you the one that walks a lot, carry loads of object from one place to another and stand all the time? If so, you will require safety footwear that is more comfortable to your feet. A lightweight Alloy gives you a soothing, relaxed, and comfortable feel, so you can pick them. It will help you beat tiredness and won’t make you feel drained out at the end of the day due to constant walking.
· Based on the temperature in your workplace you can decide the type of toe to choose.
Conclusion:
Whether you go for Alloy or Steel, the choice is totally yours! In any case, you will be benefitted from both as they are both amazing in their own ways. Shop smartly, make the right decision, and give your feet a perfect partner while working.

Static Dissipative Shoes How They Work?
The rush of sudden electrical discharge can wreak havoc in sensitive environments. Industries involved in the electronic component or pharmaceuticals handling, processing, and manufacturing are prone to the constant risk of static current build-up.
This static electricity is problematic as it triggers shocks and causes considerable damage to equipment and people working in such scenarios. It is the reason why static dissipation is a compulsory safety feature in footwear for people working in industries where static current build-up is a prevalent issue.
Static dissipating safety shoes as the name suggest are designed to reduce the amount of static electricity that is built upon your body. In this category comes safety and non-safety shoes that protect workers against the possible danger of the static current build up in the workplace.
The SD safety shoes are meant to be worn in work areas where you come directly in contact with technical and electronic components such as computer technician jobs, electronic product and component manufacturing, laboratories, clean room environment, and firework manufacturing.
These environments require you to take safety and preventative measures in advance to mitigate the effect of the accumulation of static. These shoes are designed such that they prevent contact with the floor. Plus, control the vision of sparks of the static electricity that might cause serious damages.
How Does Static Electricity Works?
Static electricity definitely can be pretty risky and a lot more dangerous in work environments. It can damage electronic components, chips that you are about to assemble in the equipment. Moreover, it can affect your ability to build a component as there is a possibility of other complications too.
Static electricity is the electrical charge that is present and circulated on the surface and floors. It occurs due to the accumulation of charge in one place. Once the sole of your shoes and the floor surface gets in contact and later is separated, there is an electrical discharge that happens thereby leading to electric shocks.
The science of static electricity - Anuradha Bhagwat
You might remember that the time when you tried to scruff your feet and then touched the floor, and later when touched your feet again, you received a mild shock, that’s what static charge is that gets build up.  It seems to sound funny back then, but in a sensitive and serious working environment, this charge is not mild, instead, it’s way too dangerous to handle.
The only way to get rid of this charge and be safe is to ensure the surface and your footwear allow the electricity to seamlessly flow through it. As the electricity flows through the surface without any barrier, it reduces the chances of experiencing any kind of shock or spark. Thus, resulting in inculcating a healthier work environment.
Selecting the Right Shoes for the Job
One must carefully evaluate their job condition and working environment, before making any sort of judgment for buying a pair of SD shoes. There are different shoes based on different industries and types of work.
1.) Safety and health experts always instruct employees to wear the required shoes that offer protection. They might be a little awkward on the street but are ideally meant to act as protective gear during work time.
2.) Each industry has designed a safety protocol and shoes that go according to their workplace condition. For example, the heavy and dangerously sharp object needs shoes that are strong solid and doesn’t harm your leg even if anything falls on it.
3.) Places prone to electric shocks need static shoes that flow the electricity through our bodies. This intends to reduce the risk of the spark that causes explosion or fire. However, in such conditions, one must not wear nylon, cotton, silk, and wool material socks.
4.) SD shoes are capable to withstand electric shocks. They let the current flow through it which seems to be the best protection under all kinds of circumstances.
All You Need to Know About Static Dissipative Footwear
The danger of static buildup at the workplace can leave you in shock and a miserable situation which is the least you’d wish to expect.
Firstly, ask yourself whether you work in these two main environments that are prone to static electric charge: computer component handling workplace and plant and machinery facility, both create large static electricity in the manufacturing process.
These are the places that create static electricity which is harmful to employees working. As soon as the employee touches metal, it discharges current and the person gets unwanted shocks.  This can make the person uncomfortable and vulnerable to a serious health hazard.
Did you know everything about Static Dissipating Shoes
?
Static dissipating shoes come as a rescue in multiple work scenarios. They are helpful in but for that, the floors, mats as well machinery needs proper grounding to reduce the static electricity in the environment.
Multiple layers in static shoes allow the static build-up in the body of the person to pass seamlessly into the floor. This is the critically most important safety feature that must be used in the work shoes and people working under such industries.
Static dissipating shoes are a must-have safety norm in industries like hospitals, pharmaceuticals, explosive shells manufacturing, and firework manufacturing. There is no need to take a second chance or ignore safety as it is best to be prepared by wearing safety shoes.
“Most electric Shock occurs at Workplace”
Based on the research and survey conducted by the Australian health and welfare institute, it was stated that the most common place for people to experience shock and spark incidents is at the workplace.
During the year 2014-2016, about 1065 people were reported to be hospitalized due to electric shock at the workplace. This report was solely for one country, imagine the count of injuries around the world.
How Do Static Dissipative Shoes Help You
When you wear footwear with static dissipative feature –
The electric charges flow through your body to the ground as soon as you come in contact and get separated from the floor.
The electricity doesn’t build up on your body which saves you against getting a shock or spark.
The chances of getting a shock are reduced to a bare minimum especially when you touch metal objects,  sensitive surfaces, or electronic equipment.
SD footwear will help you, but you must ensure to wear it in a clean environment only.
How to Care for ESD Footwear?
To make sure your footwear is working properly at its best, they must be frequently cleaned, maintained. A regular check needs to be provided to ensure safety is guaranteed every time you wear it.
Wondering how to protect and take good care of your shoes, here is all you must follow rigorously.
The Steps:
1.) Use a mild soap to only scrub the outsole smoothly.
2.) Ensure that your shoes are clean and away from all sorts of dirt and debris, this adds to the longevity
3.) Once in a while, make sure to clean the interior of your shoes. Remove the insole and vacuum away the interior part thoroughly.
4.) The inside of the shoes should be kept clean and tidy always.
5.) Once the inside is thoroughly cleaned, the outer part needs to be wiped with a soft cloth.
Following these steps will surely help you maintain your shoes in proper condition. Furthermore, it will ensure that safety is maintained just the right way.

Are Employers Required To Pay For Steel Toe Boots?
Nothing around you comes free of cost.
Everything has its own price, be it a matchbox or an aeroplane.
Whenever you purchase any item from marketplace or online, you have to pay a certain amount of money for the same.
And it’s quite worthy because that purchased item is meant for your purpose.
But what if you require something related to your job profile!
Is your office or the employer liable to bear that particular expense of yours?
For e.g., if an industrial worker needs a PPE or Hard Hat or a pair of Steel Toe Boots, who is going to pay for his requirements?
The worker himself or the employer?
This issue is a big question for our readers out there.
Just imagine!
A daily waged worker who is unable to meet his basic needs properly, how is it possible for him to bear the expenses of his safety gears, necessary in his work-field!
Gradually, as you go over this article you will find all your answers.
So, keep scrolling!
Workers, never by any chance, are bound to bear the expenses of his steel toe boots or any other safety gears for his job purpose. It is the sole responsibility of the administrator or the employer to provide every safety measures to the employee, be it their work-boots or PPE or their safety glasses or head protection.
When workers are working in a factory on the basis of monthly salary, they are in action for the better production of the factory. And this increase in production level is ultimately beneficial for the employer and the owner.
Let’s make this more clear to you.
Rules Of OSHA
Just take a quick look at what OSHA has to say about this-
1.) The employer has to provide all the protective equipment like PPE, work-boots, safety eyewear, hard hats etc. to his employees and that too free of cost. The workers should also keep one thing in mind, not to wear these items when he is not at his jobsite.
2.) In case of metatarsal protection built-in work-boots, the employer cannot reimburse the worker for those shoes or boots.
3.) If an employee’s steel toe boots get lost or damaged, intentionally, then only he is bound to pay for the replacement. It is the user’s fault.
4.) In case, any employee prefers non-speciality safety toe footwear rather than the steel toed ones on their work-field, then the employer is not bound to pay for the worker’s boots, even if the workers wears them all-time.
5.) When an employer pays for the steel toe boots, he will definitely choose the right pair for his employees to avoid hazards at work-place.
6.) Moreover, he will be very much concerned about the usage and maintenance of the steel toe boots, resulting into higher protection of employees and fewer injuries and fatalities for them.
Sample Protective Footwear Policy
This policy got initiated from the 1st of July 2015.
It was the best way of that time to keep the workers informed about their safety footwear requirements along with the price.
The Policy Statement-
This policy was a clear message to the employers involving workers onsite.
If an employee (worker) needs special safety boots, the employer has to provide it by bearing the expense of the footwear.
If an employee doesn’t need the boots, then the employer has to defray some of the cost of the safety boots.
The company makes every possible protective gear available for the employees, to protect them from hazards.
This policy outlines the requirements for obtaining Company Reimbursement for safety boots.
It is the responsibility of the Management to first evaluate the various hazards and then provide the perfect safety gears to prevent those hazards.
The nature of the hazard is then noted down in the Company’s form in short, with the areas or job titles, after proper survey. The date of survey should also be mentioned in the form. Finally, the Supervisor signs the form.
The Management arranges an training camp for the employees to educate them about the proper and current usage, proper care and maintenance of safety equipment.
It is the Supervisor who maintains an acknowledgement record of the employees attending the training.
Requirements for obtaining safety footwear (steel toe boots)-
The employee should work in such an area on regular basis, where the safety boots are a must.
If the job profile of any employee requires the usage of steel toe boots regularly, he can easily obtain the footwear.
The Company-designated supplier supplies such safety work-boots.
The loss-control coordinator will decide what type of safety boots is required by the employees for that particular area or operation, like the boots can either be the steel toed ones or the metal-free shoes or metatarsal guards.
Eligibility for reimbursement of safety boot’s expense-
Both full-time and part-time employees working around hazards are eligible for these safety boots.
Limitation of the policy-
The amount of Company reimbursement for safety boots in a year will be decided by the loss-control coordinator.
The Company’s reimbursement will allow only 2 pairs of safety boots for each employee, every year. This reimbursement rule may vary as per case basis.
Replacement of safety boots is determined only after the return of the first pair to the loss-control coordinator.
The protective footwear must comply with the following standard of the ANSI Z41.
Responsibility of the employee-
Shop online at- https://workgearz.com/are-employers-required-to-pay-for-steel-toe-boots/
If there is any difference between the cost of the safety boots and reimbursement amount, then the employee shall bear it.
An employee should take proper care of his steel toe boots and maintain them.
During working hours it is the responsibility of the employee to wear his safety boots and avoid accidents.

Are Hiking Boots Good for Work?
Are you one of those who like to wear the same pair of boots everywhere? While some people want to have a different pair of shoes for every occasion, a lot many people can’t afford to do the same. And even if those people are financially stable, they prefer wearing the same boots everywhere because they are generally too tired to get used to different boots again and again. These people have generally one question in their mind: can hiking boots be used as work boots?
Yes, you can use hiking boots as work boots. I think hiking boots are extremely versatile and in fact,  can turn out to be a  great option if you are really looking for a comfortable pair to wear at work. Hiking boots are perfect amalgamation of comfort and toughness and can sustain almost all weather conditions. These are durable, waterproof and offer great support.
However, there are some basic differences that need to be kept in mind while comparing hiking boots and work boots. In this article, I will break down these differences and will discuss the factors on which the functioning of the hiking boot depends and how they can turn out to be a blessing in a hard day’s labour.
Difference between Hiking boots and Work boots
Here are few key differences between the two styles which you surely don’t want to miss
Hiking Boots
Hiking boots, as we all know are designed to conquer everything from moderate to harsh that nature throws at them. Waterproofing is a key feature since the sole purpose of these boots is to save your feet since you will be trekking in nature. Therefore hiking boots are mostly waterproof and can face all types of water conditions.
Next comes the inner sole of hiking boots which should be of top quality in order to make the boots more comfortable for you so that you can cover distances in a blink. I think EVA is the most common and fine option in these boots. The EVA inner sole not only molds to the shape of your feet but also ensures a different level of solace especially if you are suffering from pronation and supination.
Another important aspect that you need to focus on is the outer sole. Hiking boots that have durable lug outer sole and decent grip patterns promise to be with you a little longer than your normal work boots and saves you from slipping on slippery surfaces. In short, you don’t have to worry about the things that nature throws at you.
Lastly, in order to keep your feet dry and crispy, you will need some ventilation and inner lining plays a major role in this. Gore-Tex is one of the best options which ensures that your feet remain toasty even when you drench them in water.
Work Boots
While work boots vary significantly from work to work, there are two things that are common in all which is comfort and safety in the workplace.
Since work boots are constructed for hazardous areas, you can find features like the presence of a safety toe designed from composite materials, alloys or steel depending on your needs. And this particular feature is absent in hiking boots.
The outer sole of the work boots is mostly resistant to electrical surges and hazards and are quite versatile. That is why they can be used as multiple places and for more job types giving you more value for your money.
Unlike hiking boots which are mostly waterproof, work boots are designed to be water resistant and not really waterproof which comes as an advantage in case of hiking boots. Although boots which are designed for people working in the logger industry are somewhat waterproof but unfortunately, they don’t have proper ventilation.
For your ease of understanding I have mentioned these differences according to their features.
FeaturesWork BootsHiking Boots
Weight Due to increased hazards of a construction site, presence of steel toe often adds significant weight. To avoid trips and abrasions, toe caps or bumper made of material like rubber are present which make the boots lightweight.
Flexibility Rigid in comparison to hiking boots.More flexible to avoid hindrance.

Pros and Cons of wearing Hiking boots to work
Pros
We all know that hiking boots are exclusively designed to make your hiking experience much better but they are even great when you wear them at work. Getting confused? Well, let me help you by telling you some of the benefits of wearing hiking boots:
1.) Support and Stiffness: Hiking boots gives you just the right amount of support and stiffness you require to function well. The stiffer midsole and better ankle coverage in comparison to normal work boots allow you to carry out tough and hefty activities without hurting your feet. These are generally lightweight which makes them relatively comfortable and help avoiding sprains.
2.) Outer Soles: Almost every work demands a specific amount of tread to be present in the boots. The tread of the hiking boots permits them to form a steady grip on uneven surfaces. This way, these boots prevent slippage on slippery surfaces and accidents.
3.) Meant for watery surfaces: Since hiking boots are designed for hiking purposes where you are generally exposed to many things including water, these are generally waterproof. While your regular boots might remain wet, these boots are designed to dry quickly even when you walk through streams and mud. That is why hiking boots are suitable almost for all kinds of work that include even slightest of outdoor activity.
4.) Durability: You can’t ignore the fact that hiking boots are designed keeping hiking terrains in mind. When compared to normal work boots, these last longer. While with other boots, you have to replace them after every few months, hiking boots can last for years with some proper care.
5.) Better Foot Support: Hiking boots have stiff soles and great torsional rigidity which means you have a solid platform to step on. No matter how tough the environment is, your foot is safe from getting twisted.
Cons
1.) Poor Breathability: Hiking boots are made of thicker materials like leather that don’t breathe well. Another reason that could be responsible for less breathability is the presence of high tops through which heat and moisture can’t easily vent through. This not only makes your feet uncomfortable but also increases the chances of blisters.
2.) Hiking boots take time to break in: Hiking boots are designed using stiffer material that takes time to soften up. Because of this it sometimes becomes really intolerable to wear these boots at work.
3.) Your feet can get hot: Since hiking boots are less breathable, they tend to trap heat. This is bearable in cold weather but it is not so great in hot weather because it makes your feet sweat more which can increase the chances of developing blisters and other foot problems. If you are working in a hot environment then you’ll have to stop periodically and let your feet dry out and cool off which is really annoying.
Do hiking boots meet OSHA footwear guidelines for work?
If you are unaware about what exactly OSHA standards then let me tell you that these standards are generally available in footwears that are protective in nature and save workers from the risk of injury from impacts, punctures or electrical hazards at the job site. These generally impact and compression resistant as certified by the American Society for Testing and Material Standards.
However, when we particularly talk about hiking boots, these boots are not OSHA approved as they do not comply with ASTM standards for protective shoe performance and testing methods. But that does not stop them from being any less protective in nature. Although, if you are wearing hiking boots at work you should be a little more focused towards safety in comparison to your regular work boots.

My top three choices for hiking boots are as follows
1.) Columbia Men’s Newton Ridge Plus Waterproof hiking boots
If you are looking for boots that are built to deliver the best in terms of style, performance and versatility then these Ridge plus are meant for you. Are Doc Martens Work Boots Good?
Since the 1960s and is still one of the most preferred brands in the market. Designed literally by a German doctor during the time of the Second World War, Docs have been growing so fast that the brand was named as the eighth fastest growing British company in 2012.
According to the famous Business Insider, almost 10 million pairs of Dr. Martens are made each year but could this be the brand of your choice?
My answer would definitely be a YES! These boots are perfect for almost any kind of work whether it’s a warehouse job, an office job or an outdoor job. Docs are comfy yet cool. The cushioned soles in them are tough enough to save your day. From giving you a snug fit to a mind blowing durability, these boots are worthy of being a good pair of work boots.
However, there are other factors that make Docs capable to be your favorite work boots. What are they? Let’s have a look!
What are the Different Types of Doc Martens Boots?
Doc Martens manufactures a variety of work boots that includes work boots for men, women and work safety shoes. I have classified these boots according to their specific areas like exquisite features and technologies.
Doc Martens Boots Classification by Features
With one of its kind features, Doc Martens gives you enough varieties to browse from. Just choose from their work boots by aligning the specific features to your particular need.
1.) Anti Static Work Boots
These conductive safety boots will save your feet by sending the electrical charges directly to the ground and thus prevent electrocution, spark or a static shock. These boots are well suited if you are dealing with electricity on a daily basis.
2.) Non-Metallic Toe (NMT)
These are nothing but composite toe boots which will protect your feet from extreme weather conditions. What’s really interesting about these boots is that they can pass through a metal detector and are best for people who work in harsh conditions.
3.) Safety Plate Boots
These are the steel toe variant of Doc Martens and are known for providing a protective reinforcement in the toe area. The boots can actually save your feet from falling objects and compression.
4.) Slip Resistant Boots
You can easily guess what’s special about this boot from the name itself. Designed with rubber soles and tread patterns these boots can increase the traction which can indeed save you from slipping. Other than rubber, the materials used in manufacturing are PVC and PU which make them perfect slip-resistant boots. The boots are suitable for people who work in an oily or slippery working environment.
Doc Martens Technologies
The two unique technologies that you will definitely find in these boots are:
1.) SoftWair
This particular technology is the reason that makes Martens lightweight and comfortable. Not just this, by eliminating the feeling of a heavy boot, SoftWair engineering allows your feet to breathe easily in the workplace with the help of air cushioned sole. And yes, the boots will also save your feet while you work in grating conditions.
2.) Grip-Trax
Interestingly, this is the first tech to be developed by Dr. Martens which is the perfect amalgamation of durability, slip resistance and comfort. The enhanced flex and cushioning of these boots make the worker feel safe and protected.
Why Should You Choose Dr. Martens?
From comfort to durability, I have got a number of reasons to convince you that these boots are just the right choice for work wear.
1.) The Docs are made to last with their hard leather. These boots can sustain almost every kind of wear and tear without cracking or splitting. Thanks, to the tough lining and stitching that saves the boot from rotting or bursting.
2.) Give extra protection to your feet with Docs when you are at your job. The steel toe area of the boots safeguards your metatarsal area against stumbling. Whatever work you do, these boots promise to protect your feet from almost every kind of element whether it’s water, snow or mud.
3.) The most important factor to be kept in mind while purchasing any work boot is comfort and trust me Doc Martens consider comfort a basic need rather than a choice. Wear them for sometime and you will realize that these are the coziest shoes you can ever wear. The soft inner lining keeps your skin protected saving you from all those irritating blisters.
4.) These have got good arch support and can accommodate different types of arches. The presence of an air-cushioned sole which is bouncy and flexible makes the boots very appropriate even for people with very low arch.
5.) Sometimes boots feel too restrictive but with Doc Martens you get what you need. The slip on boots are very accommodative and are quite easy to pull on and pull off.
6.) The functionality of Doc Martens is just great. The basic, no-nonsense style of these boots is quite impressive for the long term. Trust me, these boots make a statement of their own.

They add an extra layer of cushion to our feet. Being comfortable in a demanding workplace is necessary to be productive and drive results.
2.) Wearing the right kind of socks also aid as an added layer of protection from accidents caused at construction sites.
3.) Socks are a good way to wick away moisture caused by sweaty feet in work boots all day. Such jobs can sometimes be outdoors too, which means working in the scorching heat sometimes, or even factories can get hot with all the machinery around. Sweaty feet can lead to several issues of bad odor or even sores. Hence, for better foot hygiene, it is good to wear the right pair of socks.
4.) A good fitting pair of socks look great and smart as well. Work boots can be made to fit better with proper socks.
Tips on finding the right socks for construction workers
Now that you know the advantages of wearing appropriate socks while working in construction, you should also understand what you should look for while buying one.
1.) When buying socks for work, make sure they fit you well. The socks should not be a size larger or smaller, they should have a snug fit from your toes to your heel. Since work boots are generally ankle length or sometimes slightly higher, it is wise to buy socks that are long enough to cover till your mid-calf.
2.) The material of socks plays a big role in preventing any discomfort while at work. Pick a fabric based on the kind of weather you are exposed to at all times. If you are someone who sweats profusely, you should consider staying away from cotton socks. While they do soak up moisture or sweat quickly, they take longer to dry, leaving you feeling uncomfortable in damp socks throughout the day. Instead, you should go for materials like spandex, nylon, lycra, and mix of cotton and any of the others. They will keep your feet dry and healthy.
3.) At the end of the day, being comfortable while working is of utmost importance. Hence, you should buy socks that provide maximum comfort. Some socks are even padded for specific job requirements. Some socks are designed to give more arch support. Look for those particular features that would suit your needs while at work.
4.) The socks should be of breathable fabric to keep your feet dry and clean. They should, however, be able to keep your feet warm in cold weather conditions. Wearing breathable socks will help keep your feet odor-free.
5.) It can be quite frustrating having to buy new socks every few weeks due to wear and tear. Hence, it is viable to invest in a durable pair.
6.) Superior quality socks can be expensive, even so, you should not compromise on the quality. Check what your budget allows as many brands in the market will fit your requirement.
