Concept arts and sketches for the first Smurfgirls story, the project was canceled in 2001 and only 11 pages of the story exists

Illustrated by Jeroen De Coninck

Almost 20 years later, the idea of the Smurfgirls was reused for The Lost Village movie and the Smurfy Grove comics

Also, I found an illustration that Jeroen posted on January 3rd 2021 on his Instagram account. I think it was drawn to celebrate the first 100 followers, but instead of the Grove girls, he drew the girls from the canceled project

Q: In which kind of houses did they live (mushrooms, tree huts, other...)?

A: They lived in houses shaped like plants

Q: Which kind of names did they have?

A: I think they had flower names in the beginning

Q: Did they have a leader as well (any image of her?)

A: No they had no leader. They were the first Smurfsdemocracy 😉😉😉

Short Smurf comics with messages about protecting the ocean and coastal environment, along with climate change and its impact on the ocean. A collaboration between The Smurfs and Surfrider Foundation Europe, all of them are extracted from “Smurfrider booklet” and “Let’s smurf the climate” (“Livret du Schtroumpf Rider” and “Schtroumpfons le climat” in French)

These booklets were primarily distributed to schools and campaign leaders, not for sale due to educational purposes. Additionally, Schtroumpf Rider (Surfer Smurf or Smurf Rider in English) was created specifically for this campaign along with informative messages encouraging people to take action for the environment

"Fishing with Surfer Smurf" and "Ocean’s Couples" were also part of this campaign

Published by Bastei Lübbe from January 1991 to January 2002, includes 132 monthly issues and 2 special issues: Weihnachten (1997) & Endlich Frühling! (1998)

Note that only 127 out of 134 issues were found, I converted all the original cbr files to pdf ones so everyone can easily view them, they have all been archived on the Internet Archive
