A Treatise on Shauna Strapman (she’s a top you guys)

There’s been a lot of talk lately regarding Shauna’s sexual preferences. Is she bi? A lesbian? Straight (lol)? Well, I’m here to tell you that regardless of anything else, that girl is a top.

The first item of evidence I’d like to point out is Adult Shauna. We see two explicitly sexual relationships here: Jeff and Adam. Now with Jeff, Shauna normally takes on the stereotypical role both sexually and non-sexually of his wife. However, she is WILDLY unhappy about this, and does it largely out of guilt, etc. The times we see her enjoying her relationship with Jeff (e.g., their second attempt at furniture store roleplay), she takes on a more dominant role. Now with Adam, Shauna seems to be much more excited about that relationship. Obviously because it’s taboo, but also I think because she is the one calling the shots. We see the most extreme example of her dominance in this relationship with the text she sends Adam, telling him to lie on the floor. A third potential sexual relationship for Adult Shauna is Hat. Obviously here, she gets off (sexually in my opinion) on pinning Hat down and feeding her a bite of her arm.

Next let’s discuss Teen Shauna pre-crash. The two biggest relationships here are Jackie and Jeff. With Jeff, she orders him around and is in complete control during their hookup (in contrast to how she feels around Jackie), commanding him to pull over the car, say he loves her, etc. She is more passionate in this scene than perhaps any of her moments with Adult Jeff. Now with Jackie: Shauna is deeply unhappy and resentful of the power Jackie seems to wield over her. She calls Jackie out for it a few times and stews in anger otherwise. When Jackie is called out, she yields (quickly, if with much annoyance), but Shauna often gives in to Jackie’s desires anyway (ie the Boob Dress). Now. People use this dynamic as evidence for bottom Shauna, but I strongly believe it is just further evidence for Top Shauna. Many of Jackieshauna’s problems would be solved if Shauna simply took the power she seems to crave. Shauna loves Jackie, but she also wants to be her, possess her, and ultimately consume her. I think if Shauna took on a more dominant role in their relationship, it would satisfy many of her desires. As for Jackie: Jackie’s main desire in her relationship with Shauna is to be close to her, so any controlling-ness that she enacts is usually an attempt to keep Shauna in her grasp. I think she’d be very willing to yield control if she felt more secure in Shauna’s affection.

Now post-crash? Season 3 Shauna. Enough said. Her gathering of power first with Hat and later with the group to become AQ is, by Adult Shauna’s own admission, the most content in her role that Shauna has ever been (or will ever be).

Poppies represent sleep, peace, and death. Pretty fitting for Jackie considering the way she died. “So cold that dying feels like falling asleep.”
