Luggage

Harry had asked Zir that question, through the grimoire, as the end of the school year had approached.

"I have a home in London," Harry admitted. "If your parents don't mind, you're welcome to visit. Spend August with me."

Severus smiled brightly. "I'd like that!"

Harry took a sip of butterbeer and sighed. "It's good to get a break! So much has happened!"

Severus caught sight of Rita Skeeter heading their way.

"I'm not sure you're done yet!" Severus warned.

Harry and Severus had stayed at Hogwarts for the Christmas holiday. Harry had no place to go, and Severus simply avoided going home.

Harry suspected he had gone overboard with buying gifts for his friends and hoped they would understand.

Looking at his own pile, he realized with a pang that this would be the first year he would not be getting a sweater from Mrs. Weasley.

Harry and Severus had gone up to the boardroom to ask questions about Hogwarts: A History. And to find out what made the 1847 edition so special.

"I'm fine, thank you. We're reading through the book, but we're not sure what we're looking for," Harry admitted.

"We have found many differences but we have no idea what is important," Severus added.

"Ah!" Godric frowned. "Start with the section on the Board of Governors."

Harry used a clasp he found in the kit Zirnitra had provided to clip back his hair. Letting it grow out helped tame the unruliness. It also helped make him look less like James Potter.

"You should put a sticking charm on that," Severus advised.

"Good thought," Harry replied as he cast the charm.

"I dropped a clasp in a potion in my first year," Severus admitted. "Learned that the hard way."

"What makes you ask?" Remus asked, looking thoughtful.

"I would think there would need to be a level of intent," Severus suggested.

Harry watched as his friends considered options for their Runes homework. It was something he never expected. He missed Ron and Hermione, but this was good in its own way."

Harry?" Lily turned to him. "What do you think?"

"Careful!" Slughorn warned. "Don't jostle the cauldron!"

Harry held his breath as Severus carefully added the prepared ingredients.

"Now gently stir clockwise, three times," Slughorn said.

"I would like to stir it three and one half times," Severus said.

Slughorn considered. "Go ahead. Try it!"

The Felix Felicis turned out perfect.

Harry took a deep breath,

looking over the table,

making sure it was perfect.

He hated hosting Severus' friends,

the way Lucius looked at him,

but it made Severus happy,

and that made Harry happy.

lilies for Lily,

something appropriate for James.

Harry laid them on the stone,

taking Severus' hand,

not bothering to hide the tears in his eyes.

"Merlin, no!" Severus protested with a laugh.

"The Board isn't expecting you to be a poised professional," Severus said. "I mean, you're only sixteen."

"Good thing Professor McGonagall likes me," Harry grinned. "She'll help."

"She will!" Severus nodded.
