Pay attention to The Chinese "N-th Room" incident

The ‘Chinese version of the N-th Room,’ took place mainly in a private Telegram group called ‘MaskPark Treehole Forum.’ According to reports, it had as many as 100,000 members, and the may have involved up to 900,000 victims—far exceeding the scale of Korea’s N-th Room case.

The victims included large numbers of underage girls. The criminal content varied widely, including covert recordings in public places, drugging and raping classmates or colleagues, secretly recording betrayals of girlfriends or wives, and even the horrifying sharing of videos by members who sexually assaulted their own daughters. Perpetrators used various methods—coercion, deception, hidden cameras, and drugging—to obtain private images and personal information of women, especially minors, then disseminated and sold this material on a massive scale within these groups, using it as a basis for collective verbal humiliation and sexual fantasy sharing. Public discussion was heavily suppressed and information rapidly blocked, the full extent and severity of the incident were never adequately discussed in the public sphere.

the truth is that you simply do not care. you can name a hundred things you care about in regards to the entire porn games situation but you simply do not care about solving the problem that there are people out there that derive pleasure from the idea of getting to hurt someone in unspeakable ways. the truth is that you can spend hours talking about all of the problems that concern you, and i bet some of your reasons are people-loving, but you simply cannot bring yourself to care for more than a minute about the issue Collective Shout set out to address. if you think they are scum of the earth, what is your answer? what will you suggest? what do you want platforms and payment providers to do? don't go solving All of it in one fell swoop for my reading pleasure, but give me any fucking clue about your praxis. do you care? is it a problem to you at all that there are people out there who find the concept of abuse pleasurable? is it a problem to you that, anecdotally, roughly 6 out of 10 times that i encounter any reminder of my trauma, that is in the context of another person's entertainment that they feel fully, comfortably, happily entitled to? hours and hours and thousands of words to address the issues you care so deeply about, that you believe might arise, will arise, have risen, and not any indication that you care that someone can pay pocket money to imagine themself in the role of the people who terrify me the most in the fucking world. and then you'll load up Jacob Geller's video essay on Call of Duty and hum and nod and think 'wow, how true! this video game sure normalizes torture as long as it is a specific group of people on the receiving end of it'. guess what other games normalize torture as long as there is a specific group of people on the receiving end of it.
