I mean... MMA Black Swan is like recent recent and that shit is both preplanned and not subtle. Lol. Like it is a pretty dramatic statement to perform traditional dances in a way thatās not constituted by gender, in a way that is reversing gendered expectations. We can also look at the Christmas sing-alongāthey did not have to include that really intimate turn when jm is softly singing the chorus. People decided to keep that in, that was a /decision/. This is just my opinion, but I get the sense that the company is very āsupportiveā of their relationship, or else they wouldnāt be intentionally showing content that is slightly sus or pairing up jk and jm more and more recently. I mean even back in 2017, they let jk drop GCF-T! and they didnāt have to allow that! And theyāve seen peopleās reactions since then, and Iām sure theyāve been observant/detailed about it too, but they keep allowing jikook to keep jikooking.
That being said, I donāt know the intentions behind the companyās āsupport.ā It seems to me that theyāve seen how powerful heteronormativity works for them while jikook live in what I consider to be a glass closet. Bighit as a company doesnāt have to worry about the backlash because they arenāt out, and, as we see on the daily, people are just refusing to see them as anything romantic. The culture of shipping and fan service covers up anything particularly revealing for most people, while they still get to show their natural chemistry (š considering lights video behind the scenes, I think that demonstrates how the company might see them as a unit). Is this because they support them as queer people/queer artists or is this because they see the marketability of the two and have been able to show their chemistry while maintaining plausible deniability regarding their sexuality? Whoās to say, my good bitches. Generally, motivations are pretty complicated, so I think itās likely that itās a mixed bag of both. Regardless, I get the sense that jm and jk (and the rest of BTS) are pretty happy about the situation, so Iām happy about it as well, but once again, this is my opinion! I think itās dangerous for them to come out, especially since they havenāt done their military service yet, but I think theyāre finding a balance between protecting them and letting them be themselves and together. The video below about living as two mlm in SK and peopleās assumptions might be telling... The people in this vid make the assumptions that support their own worldview and keep them comfortable.
What sorts of repurcussions did Jikook face fro 'slip ups' in the past? By slip ups I mean the New Jersey Vlive, Rose Bowl, and things like that. Did they have internal meetings within their company. Did they get scolded? Were they reminded of everything they stand to lose is their truth is put out there in ways that are undeniable? It seems like a lot of Jikookers get antsy when Jikook aren't being 'obvious' for a while. But aren't they supposed to be 'not obvious'? The times when they 'made it obvious' during live moments have probably been slips in vigilance. As time goes on, and they get more famous and scrutinized, we probably won't be getting anything Rose Bowl like anymore, will we?
Vlives together have been more obviously supervised (during his wine vlive in 2019, Jk said that someone from the company always stayed up to monitor vlives so clearly this was always a thing but in the year 2020 Jikook had staff members hovering in the apartment with them). There are no audience taken fancams or much live impromptu footage of Jikook. Yet we still had stunning personal moments of Jikookery like 'I was with Jungkook' and that extended stare during the sept 1 group vlive.
Does it make you nervous ever that Bighit could take easy measures to effectively 'end' the Jikook 'ship'? Do you think Jikook will be more cautious and careful as fame and scrutiny increase? If that is the case, your inbox will be full of insecurity...
Thereās no way of knowing if they wereĀ in trouble by the company or had any repercussions for their slip-ups, but Iād say the company didnāt mind Rose Bowl all that much since it was included in the Memories 2019 and to such an extent. Their vlives in general, if theyāre subunits or ot7, have staff members present, and Iām not sure if that has anything to do with keeping the membersĀ āunder controlā or only serves the purpose of helping them out and being there as support. I mean, it still doesnāt stop jikook from jikooking lol.
And no, I donāt think BH can or wouldĀ āend the shipā. Shipping is a part of k-pop, and I think the company and all of the members are aware of that. The furthest anyone has gone toĀ āendingā a ship were JK and Tae themselves, but that didnāt do much lol.Ā
I do think theyāll keep themselves in check because theyāre bound to get even bigger, so there definitely wonāt be any ear biting in the future. They still might, however, be paired in an artistic and musical sense, like they were for Dynamite and Black Swan MMA. They work together great, their chemistry is amazing, thereās no reason for them not to be.

Hello, this is unrelated to jikook but can you talk a bit about your favorite wordplay in the BTSās song lyrics? Like what wordplay did the tannies use in their songs that absolutely blew your mind?
Generally speaking, I feel like Koreans really love wordplay lol. Just take for example our obsession with acrostic poems and ajae gagsāĀ
But my favorite to come out of the tanniesā amazing lyricism has to be the one in Trivia ęæ : Love
āė ź·øė„ ģ¬ė, ģ¬ė, ģ¬ė
ė ėģ ėŖØė ėŖØģė¦“ ģ ģ
ėė„¼ ģ¬ė, ģ¬ė, ģ¬ė
ģ¼ė” ė§ė¤ģ“ ė§ė¤ģ“ā
āIām just a person, person, person
You erode all my sharp edges
You make me
Into love, love, loveā
The word for person (ģ¬ė) turns into the word for love (ģ¬ė) once the square ć
character gets āerodedā into the round ć
.Ā On both a figurative and literal level, āpersonā turns into ālove.ā Iām obsessed with the images that the wordplay in those lines evoke; I remember being struck with how beautiful it was the first time I heard it, and itās stayed with me ever since. ā”
Runner-up has to be all the mind-blowing wordplay in their song āDdaeng/ė”ā (and especially in Namjoonās verse!) that this video does a great job breaking down here. I highly recommend the watch!

Would you ever consider doing a post on the queer coding/gender queer coding of jk and jm as you mentioned?
Sure, as long as someone was interested! I would especially love an excuse to talk about the Filter performance, MMA Black Swan, and āi am you, you are me.ā And if anyone wanted to hear me rant about something else like the recent Home performance or GCFs or Coming of Age Ceremony š or really anything, I would be happy to talk about them as well. As I mentioned in that ask (linked below), I donāt consider myself a jikook blog, so Iām also happy to talk about Vmin platonic soulmate bond, BTS queer coding in general, my adoration for Kim Seokjin, and most importantly to me, why a romantic and/or sexual relationship between any of the members doesnāt make that relationship more important than any of the other relationships within BTS. Not sure if people are quite as interested in those topics, but the reason I became a fan of BTS was because of their group dynamic. Found family is fucking beautiful š„ŗš

Ugh Jimin saying heāll be more active on Weverse is exciting but all together terrifying. I would love to see him be more active on social media but Iād also hate for him to see all the gross hate he gets there as well. Like I just had to block someone who called him a flop and an attention seeker for posting, and telling him to stay away from jk because he commented on his baby pics. Itās so bizarre and sad that people are like that.
I hope he scrolls through all the bullshit without looking at it and just reads the harmless, nice posts. He hasnāt been active in so long, and people have the audacity to throw hate at him for it?! When heās the sweetest, kindest human being who couldnāt sleep and decided to come talk to us. He couldāve literally done anything - stared at the wall, counted sheep, meditated, but he decided to talk to armys and people spin it around against him?? Also, the commenting on JKās pics was so freaking adorable, I canāt š„ŗ

we might also ask if assuming straightness is projecting heteronormativity! but i really liked anonās question because i think a lot of queer people look out for queer coding from people--maybe using gender neutral terms about partners or potential partners, discussing queer artists, etc.--to meet potential friends who are also LGBTQIA or for safety reasons as well. considering jkās consistent suggestions for queer artists, kmās comments about gender and/or gendered clothing, their avoidance of labeling their relationship explicitly, their artistic representations of their relationship (GCF-T, Home 2020 on Jimmy Fallon, MMA Black Swan), etc., itās my own opinion that they have been queer coding their own relationship intentionally. Take GCF-T and MMA Black Swan, for instance: jk used queer artist Troye Sivanās music in the background, and the lyrics are definitely sus. The video is also of jm only--not the both of them--just like fond footage of jm smiling and being cute and happy while on a vacation for his birthday with jk, a vacation that jk planned and paid for. jm and jk both wanted people to know, considering jm made a vlog about it and then jk followed it up with the very quickly edited GCF-T (there are theories about it being posted on an anniversary, which is cute and maybe explains why jk worked so hard to finish it by this day, but regardless, the video speaks for itself). they also cannot stop talking about it, so it was clearly important and memorable for them! similarly, with MMA Black Swan, there are implications from their duet that also queer codes their relationship. To be clear, I know little about dance but more about queer theory applied to art, including dance. The pas de deux (the lift) in the performance is done between a man and a woman. To switch up the gender roles with two men is significant--it suggests a break in our expectations about gender and dance. With this disruption of gendered roles, we might also what that signifies (beyond their beautiful dancing, of course!). We might also consider, why jm and jk? and also, how jm and jk? not only does this lift require a lot of strength on both parts, but it also requires a lot of trust. at this point, I think jk and jm are saying a lot about their relationship, and i think as queer people, we are less disenchanted with heteronormativity than most. I like to see our potential to read situations as queer as a positive rather than a negative. Iād also like to imagine that if they indicated that they were unhappy with those suggestions, they would say so. But so far, they just giggle a lot.Ā

Anon, I hope youāre enjoying getting back in touch with your sexuality! What an exciting time :)Ā
i've only been exclusively in het relationships, though i've had doubts about my orientation since my teenage years (i'm much much older now). i never explored it, nor do i have a desire anymore to do so, as i am happy and content with my married life. (Wife for over a decade now). having said that, learning abt km, watching their relationship and their interactions have awoken that aspect of me that i have not thought about/delved into in a long while. it made me think again about my very own sexual identity/orientation. I do wonder if my initial fascination with kookmin, that has now grown to love and support, is just me projecting my own unexpressed desires (and/or unrecognized frustrations). ig my question is how do you know that what u see (thus believe to be true) in km is in fact reasonable speculation and not simply a projection of your own sexual identity. I'm quite inexperienced in all these so i apologize if any of my comments/questions are in anyway offensive. thanks in advance.
Hi anon, I donāt see anything offensive about your ask! I think weāre all bound to project a bit of us in others, especially if itās someone we donāt personally know, and people weāre only watching through a screen. The question is, just how much weāre projecting, and how much of it is observing it through an unbiased lens. Iām glad to hear youāre happy now!Ā
