Taylor: uses the word Depression several times over the last few years.
Swifties: what makes you think she has depression?
how could she POSSIBLY be appropriating mental illness in this way? all she knows is that she feels normal human sadness!!!! she could never be Depressed!!!

Obsessed with all the callbacks in fresh out the slammer
Another summer, taking cover || I’ve loved you 3 summers now honey and I want ‘em all
He don’t understand me || you say I don’t understand and I say I know you don’t
Splintered back in winter - 12/5/21
He was with her in dreams || your faithless love’s the only hoax I believe in || somewhere in the haze got the sense I’d been betrayed || maybe it was her
Gray and blue || my face was gray but you wouldn’t admit that we were sick || broken and blue
Handcuffed to the spell I was under || He can be my jailer
For just one hour of sunshine || I only see daylight
Years of labor, locks, and ceilings || staring at the ceiling with you, you don’t ever say too much
In the shade of how he was feeling || I don’t want no other blue but you. No other sadness in the world would do

I would have had it go higher, but I ran out of room. I'm genuinely just curious because I think I had sex for the first time very young but I'm not actually sure.
reblog for a larger sample size (or don't, it's your life!)

i know a lot of people have mentioned this, but i’m just obsessed with the way taylor refused to sanitize herself on this album. she’s telling you everything. she got off to gross men whilst already in another relationship. she fell for the most obvious lies because she wanted to believe them. she was mad at anyone who tried to warn her. yes, she’s still mad at you for clutching your pearls and watching her like a circus animal btw. she’s having his baby—no she’s not! she just likes trolling. she does really want babies, though. like a lot. she felt like she’d been abducted by aliens and found cosmic love, but in reality, she was manic. and then he fucking ghosted her! and he didn’t even measure up in any measure of a man!!!!! and now she’s devastated by him and his predecessor! she feels like a wondrous prophet one day and the desperate victim of a curse the next. btw he knows how to ball and she knows aristotle. and fuck kim k! also man sex with certain men kinda fucked her up, but at least the writing that came from it defined her legacy. the manuscript isn’t hers anymore. she hopes this insane ass manuscript won’t have to be hers, either! free her of these stories.

Me after realizing that Taylor says MH deserves prison after spending the entirety of the album describing being with Joe as being in prison

Harry Potter has a lot of hype of being the best magic young adult book out there. And while it is good, there are better ones. Also, JKR is trash. So.
Tamora Pierce is an amazing author. I still read her books as an adult, and I love them. Her books feature strong female characters, interesting and nuanced side characters, well-written antagonists, queer and poc side and main characters, and wonderful world building.
The ones more similar to Harry Potter are the lesser-known Circle of Magic series. First book is Sandry's Book. This series revolves around four children who discover they have magic that revolves around mundane/natural things: weaving, plants, smithery and weather. They all find themselves in the same house in Winding Circle Temple, where they find teachers and learn to control their magic, while dealing with various problems.
The adults are responsible, good teachers. Two (maybe three) of the four kids are poc. Three out of four teachers are poc and I'm pretty sure all of them are queer. The setting is not European, it has a Mediterranean/Turkey vibe.
Please read these books. Give them to your children, instead of Harry Potter. You won't regret it.

Not to be all “I listen to Taylor Swift in a deeper and intellectual way” meme but I am seeing some people just not getting this album at all and I am a bit surprised by it.

I love Tumblr because nothing matters here truly. There are no influencers. Having followers doesn’t mean anything. It’s just a site where people post their sporadic thoughts and rb pretty pictures. Anyone who thinks any of this matters is woefully missing the point

you're the love loss of my life
Our field of dreams, engulfed in fire Your arson's match your somber eyes And I'll still see it until I die

I think fortnight is her fear of a possible future for her if she doesn’t change anything/pursue her “what if” with MH.
She never gets color back, she feels like she should be taken away but no one comes. Her husband is cheating and her what-if that she had a fortnight fling with is now suddenly in her orbit (turned into good neighbors) and she has to see him and they make small talk, she sees his wife and wants to kill her.
But the flame is still there. She took the miracle move on drug but the effects were temporary. She didn’t forget him. They are both writing love letters/poems to each other “I love you it’s ruining my life” (perhaps they are writing songs in code to each other?). He realized she didn’t forget him (sees the lines on the read out when she’s getting ECT therapy/interprets some of her songs to be about him) so he takes action.
Then he’s trying to convince her to ditch her life and do what she wants (buy the car you want and move to Florida) and be with him (the life you want won’t start until you touch me)
what is your interpretation of fortnight?
