The entire world was poor and technological change, especially the Industrial Revolution, enhanced human productivity and raised living standards in many nations. Modernization theorists claim that rich nations should help poor countries grow economically. Industrial nations can speed development by exporting technology to poor regions, welcoming students from these countries, and providing foreign aid to stimulate economic growth. These laptops were distributed in Nigeria, Uruguay, and later Peru, Rwanda and other developing nations  https://larrycuban.wordpress.com/2018/05/05/whatever-happened-to-one-laptop-per-child/

Just as industrialization brought sweeping transformation to social institutions, the rise of postindustrial society is remaking society all over again. For example, the postmodern family no longer conforms to any single pattern; on the contrary, individuals are choosing among many new family forms. The family in this show represent this because the do not conform to and single pattern. https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/abc/images/9/95/Modern_family.png/revision/latest?cb=20160528142145

This represents the symbolic interaction perspective: modernity and the individual because Most people in modern societies have the privacy and freedom to express their individuality. However, social diversity, widespread isolation, and rapid social change make it difficult for many people to establish any coherent identity at all.  (Macionis 531)

From a social-conflict perspective, modernity takes the form of a class society, a capitalist society with pronounced social stratification. this approach views the heart of modernization as an expanding capitalist economy, marked by inequality. This self-centeredness weakens the social ties that once united small communities. Under capitalism, people are transformed into commodities: a source of labor and a market for capitalist products. (Macionis 530) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlw-biJcXvA&feature=emb_title

Structural-Functional Perspective: Modernity as a mass society. In the top Society the people have faces and are smiling and interacting with each other. In the second, we see a society in which prosperity and expanding bureaucracy have weakened traditional social ties. No one in the second picture has a face, there’s a police officer in front of ‘Gap’  and no one is interacting.

Collective behavior involves people who may be involved without most having any direct interaction with others. One type of collective behavior is the crowd.Given their large numbers, crowds have the power to bring about change. Social Change is Controversial. Today, as in the past, people disagree about how we should live and what we welcome as ‘progress’. We see this disagreement everyday in the changing patterns of social interaction between men and women welcomed by some people and opposed by others.
