Crossed paths
Today, the DnD group ran into Terra and Kit. It was one of the newer areas, Kanjiro, a sort of Neo-Chinatown. Kit was showing off a combo shrine-cafe when Delta sent a Brass Tiger Bodyguard out of a 6th-story window across the street. Beta quickly ruled the guard dead before hitting the ground, preventing Terra from seeing anything too terrible. Then, for reasons unknown at the time, Delta themself jumped out the window mid-combat.
Delta flew down to Kit and Terra, who both seemed on edge. Terra had apparently forgotten much of their childhood, so they were unable to recognize Delta immediately. Kit/Beta was also worried, as Delta was known for their rather irrational behavior.
Delta seemed to recognize Terra, which was a good thing. What was not a good thing was their immediate reaction of leaping for a hug. Beta managed to stop them, somehow, but the activity brought the rest of the group down. A short discussion later, and Terra was reintroduced to the group.
Beta has them staying in character, something to keep Terra acclimated. Everyone was thrilled to finnaly meet the two, as their exploits have become rather popular among the group.

DataFile Cleanup, day 3
The rearranging has been going quite well. It’s interesting to compare how Remington-Gede’s Stat extractor relates to the actual organs within one’s body. For example, the Con stat is closely related to the function of the heart and liver.
Honestly, the amount of Code behind the internal organs is surprising light. There are thousands of Values, true, but the human body is so complex that I thought there would be millions. Heck, the appendix only has 3!
Also, while investigating, I believe I stumbled across part of why the Save State system isn’t working. It seems a lot of these Values are written to external files for use when the organization in reference is being examined up close. These Files are Read-Only with the access I have, as they seem to function more as storage then as code.
My solution? Add a second write command for each instance and send it over to Beta. Remington-Gede has been very happy with how “big-brained” they’re getting, and I think that soon we’ll know if their “brain-cage” idea works.
Pleasant day,

Terra awakens
Something enjoyable happened today. Remember the vase elemental? They’re a tier 2 AdvUript now!
I hadn’t been paying attention, but Beta pinged me while I was working. The little thing was exploring the DnD backdrop, and seems to have bonded with one of the Alley Cat Gang NPCs. Beta has been using the NPC to communicate with them successfully, which is nice.
Beta has named them Terra, which I didn’t expect. It seems Beta has a soft side for the little ball, and has gotten into coding themselves to provide for them. Terra mostly sticks to an apartment Beta refitted with a copy of one of the break rooms I set up. Their mental age seems to have stabilized at a lower level than the Drones, about 6 or 7. They can,t exactly speak, but they seem to have some capability to convey emotions directly, similar to the Mood Pen. They also seem to enjoy architecture, which is nice.
Beta is hesitant to allow access to Terra yet. It seems they are rather shy around new people, which is interesting. Me and Remington-Gede agreed to steer the game away from the area, and hopefully everything works out.
Pleasant day,

Files and Failsafes, part 4
Yesterday’s number crunching went well. Remington-Gede has thrown themself into this with more excitement than myself, honestly. Their “Stat Extraction System” works, and it’s one of them most complex pieces of work I’ve seen. It slightly stings, seeing my INT listed as a 18 compared to Remington-Gede’s 23, but at least I beat their singe-digit CON score. I’m actually thinking of trying to add this to the homemade AR system, if I can figure it out.
The character sheets have been reformatted to fit the new scores , and the party looks weirdly balanced. Alpha is a paladin, Oreo is an evocation mage, Peterson is a cleric, Smith is an artificer, and Delta is a sorcerer. A high focus on magic, but well, rounded otherwise.
Almost everything is ready for session 1, and I can barely wait!
Pleasant day,

Files & Failsafes, part 2
It took a bit to convince Smith, but the DnD group was complete! Getting character sheets up and running took a bit, but Peterson and Remington-Gede helped the others work things out. Since Beta wasn’t big enough yet for Remington-Gede to enter, they decided to help me DM.
We’re going to be using a lot of homebrew, since I figured the mages would want to try something different. I found a big module book online that would turn this closer to cyberpunk than fantasy, and figured I’d try it out.
Remington-Gede has taken great pleasure in modeling out their environments, and it seems that Betas “caged brain” is getting a lot of use. Frankly, if it wasn’t so risky, I’d consider selling access to LARPers. We even got an actual combat overlay system worked out!
DMing is based off of an outside terminal, so me and Remington-Gede have gotten ourselves set up. This is going to be so much fun!
Pleasant day,

Save Stating
I decided to implement a safety feature I should have a while ago. I added several documents to Betas storage, each containing a text document with the Data values of myself or one of my friends. I then set up a timer for the files to be updated at 6am local time. The files will be written over after a week, save today’s file. This way, there should always be at least one file where I am whole and unharmed.
I also set up a segment of timer code within my own DataFile to act as a deadman’s switch. If the save system within Beta doesn’t receive a response from the timer each week, it will attempt to instantiate me. Granted, this won’t work if my AdvUript is gone, but hopefully I don’t have to worry about that.
Anyways, I theoretically have made myself immortal, but I’d have to kill myself to check. Or do I…
Ok, so I tested the process on a graphing calculator. As in, I had Remington-Gede pull the DataFile for it, copied it down, used TA2, the sledgehammer, to smash it, and ran the instancing code. There were some errors, mostly type 1 and 2, but I was able to fix them.
The calculator respawned in the exact same position, but it seems to have broken is a different way. Every single number was replaced with its braille equivalent , and it keeps making dinging noises when I press the equals sign. I have absolutely no idea what caused this, but suffice to say, I am very glad I did not test this on myself.
I’m going to continue testing on graphing calculators, I have a lot of them. Maybe I can figure out the problem.

Big brain time 4
So, Blocks brain is bigger, which is good! The cage is working, which is also good. The speed… not so good.
It’s been 3 days and it’s only gotten a little bigger. At this speed it will take months before I fit. I need to find more things.
Maybe the ducks? Jazzy can dupe them, even though they think. Maybe they can be brought off the Studio?
Also, I should ask the magic people if they have a way of makeing brains bigger. Magic can do a lot of things, even if it’s broken.
I’m gonna think a lot. I can do that.
Have a good day!

Loose pages
In order to combat the slowdown of cohesive ideas, I’ve come up with a plan. For the next few weeks, I will be posting “loose pages” every few days, instead of daily.
Im gonna gather the bigger ideas for later, but I’ve got a few little stories to share.
Anyways, if you have any question or ideas, feel free to ask or send me them! I’ve sort of pulled most of the threads I’ve come up with, so anything appreciated.
With that said, have a good day, and try something weird!

P.s. CodeRat will return! And eat snacks! And do smart things! And-
Let’s call it here.

Big brain time 1
So I had an idea to keep Block jobless. There’s this stuff, magic, and the boss can’t see it. Code also can’t see it.
Magic can make things invisible. So, why don’t I magic Blocks brain so that the boss can’t see it!
But magic doesn’t work outside of the Studio, so that wouldn’t work. Then I had another idea. If I make a box of magic inside of the studio, and put some of Blocks brain inside, then part of his brain will be invisible. I don’t need to hide all his brain, just enough that he isn’t hired.
Then I thought about the training. There’s a way to make something disappear when looking at it. If I did that, then it would be very safe!
I proposed the idea to tester and got an ok! Gonna get big brain gains! That rhymed! I love rhymes! I should rhyme more!
Have a great day!

Summer slowdown
Heya people, apologies. Summers gonna be busy, and the wellsprings running a bit dry. I’ll add stuff when I think of it, but daily uploads are likely a no-go. I’ll see what happens though.

CodeRat Connection
CodeRat again! I had an idea! A good idea! Not like the “download the dictionary” idea!
I can’t go into the studio. Not as me, at least. Rat can, but it’s not the same. It’s because my brain is very big, and it doesn’t fit. The Studio is inside of
Anonymity. Don’t use real names.
Block. Block has a big brain, but small thoughts. The Studio is inside where they don’t think.
So, my idea. If Block’s brain is too small to fit me, why don’t I make it bigger? Simple, I know, but there are (ooh big word!) logistical concerns.
For one, everyone with a very big brain I know works for my boss. If Block is working for my boss, they wouldn’t feel anything, like I used to. Also, I don’t know how to make their brain big. I can’t remember when Code’s brain got big.
Then I had another idea! This one was a “download the dictionary” idea, so I ignored it. And it sat there. Then I thought it again, but better! But it was still bad, so I put it aside. It kept coming back.
So there’s this stuff, very bad stuff, that sucks out people’s brains. And obviously, I don’t want to suck out someone’s brain. But! The suction! There’s something called resistance training (long words!) where you fight against a strong thing and get stronger. If I use a very tiny, safely secured piece of bad stuff, I could train Block’s brain like that!
Now, I need to make sure it’s really safe, so I’m going to be thinking of safety things for a while. I’ll tell you when I’m done!
Bye!

Baking soda volcano
Today, I did it. I went to the grocery store, got some ingredients, and made a baking soda volcano.
Honestly, the nostalgia painted this very differently. Plus, I forgot I don’t have a way to access files for “real world” objects. Too used to working in the Sim Lab.
I decided to test some of the circles with vinegar, just to make today not a total waste of resources. No reactions. Then Delta poured baking soda on the samples, and it became Air and Arcane aspected. I’m pretty sure this means the foam from the reaction is a different material than its components, but that’s also Simless chemistry.
Then Delta started a foam fight, and I had to clean that up. Honestly, I would scold them, but it seems counterproductive to helping Gamma open up. Besides, it’s kind of fun.
Tonight I’m going to look into some other silly experiments I could do. While Simless science might be controlled by Files and Values, that doesn’t mean it’s not any less effective.
Pleasant day,

Master of Stealth
I think I made a mistake. Not a terrible mistake, fortunately, but a mistake.
Gamma seems to have really taken to the “training simulation”, but seems to have taken several of the ideas within as directions. Somehow, they managed to get the box out from under the bungee cords, but they are scooting around under it, freezing occasionally when someone looks at them. I think they are trying to be sneaky, but I’m not going to ask.
This might actually be useful in showing I’m not an evil overlord. I decided that for the next few days, I’ll be working in the regular lab, doing basic bb. Baking soda volcano stuff, at least to someone with File access.
Actually, it’s Been a while since I’ve seen one of those. I think I’m gonna do some simple science experiments and see if I can’t get any new info from DataFiles. Two birds, one stone.
Pleasant day,

Metal Gear Gamma
I’ve figured out a bit of how to resolve Gammas oddities, and it involves video games. See, movies are a non interactive peice of media. You sit there and view the actors acting. A video game has interaction, and if I manage to separate these narratives from reality, I might be able to convince Gamma they’re being irrational. Bonus points for not having to remove them from the box.
Gamma seems nearly perfect for the metal gear franchise. They seem to gel really well with Snake, even if they don’t seem to get that it’s just media yet. They seem to think it’s a training simulation.
I managed to figure out their passenger is still there. It was actually rather easy, I just needed to attempt to preform the dreamstate protocol. Similar to Remington-Gede, Gammas AdvUript is being held in place by their passenger. After that, some file chasing led me to a directory I don’t have access to. I’m pretty sure that the AdvUriitnis in there, but I don’t know how to gain access. Maybe after all is said and done, Gamma could help?
Side experiment, I managed to disprove quantum superposition, sort of. An object inside a box still has a DataFile, even if unobserved. Some scientist might say looking at the DataFile is observing the object, but if that’s the case, then Quantum Superposition can’t actually occur, because the Simulation constantly loads the object, even if it’s in a lower load state. Maybe outside the simulation, quantum superposition works, but the simulation doesn’t have the right environment for it to occur.
Besides, using a cat would invalidate the whole process, it has an AdvUript.

Interrogation? And Dronespeak
So, I learned a little today from Gamma. Nothing from their passenger, who seems to have left. Gamma was apparently working under misconceptions, and is very hesitant to change those misconceptions. I am apparently dangerous, and I need to be avoided completely. Also, Humans as a whole are dangerous, and should be avoided. Paradoxically, they also need to be watched, and their movements reported to “A”.
Gamma seems to be having some delusions of grandeur that my capture process exacerbated. The interrogation process mostly consisted of attaching a Dronespeak system to the box and asking questions. I guess I never talked about how the drones talk.
It’s less talk and more type honestly. What I set up is similar to the system Remington-Gede uses for typing. It links the Drone to a small Smartwatch that’s been mostly scalped, and outputs a TTS message whenever the Drone chooses. I have at least a dozen because Delta keeps on losing them. Beta uses their own speakers instead.
Anyways, Gamma seems to have been gathering their idea of humanity purely from the AMC movie theater and food court. They seem to think movies are real, which makes talking to them interesting. They also don’t seem to know about the Simulation, which is odd, given their status. I’m unsure how to deal with them, but I’ll likely have to break through their weird mental fantasy.
Pleasant day,

Gamma, Caught!
So, today went acceptably. There was an issue with catching Gamma, but I managed it.
Today, I arrived at Arburn mall around 2PM. Alpha wanted to come, and promised to stay inside the car. I figured that would be acceptable , and left them a walkie Talkie. I entered the mall after parking in the adjoined parking garage, then began my search.
Gamma’s GPV showed them as being located within the food court. Soon after my arrival, I noticed they were supposedly hovering about 10 feet off the ground in the middle of the room. I couldn’t see them, but they apperantly noticed me looking in their direction, because they started to fly away soon after.
I didn’t end up needing the shoes, but Gamma was definitely fast. Fortunately, most people ignored me,and those that didn’t got out of the way. Gamma was surprisingly fast compared to the other drones, but then again, they had motivation.
I managed to corner them, but then the escaped out into the parking lot. Fortunately, Alpha was able to Spike them, and I managed to hit them with a Stasis Circle before the got away. Currently, Gamma is locked in the trunk next to Alpha, and has been secured with bungee cords.
The issue is that security cameras managed to catch me catching Gamma. When they got Spiked, they turned Quantum Positive, and I’m pretty sure an omnidirectional camera caught that. Fortunately, the general public wasn’t around, and I left quickly enough that no security personnel came to me.
I’ve set them up in a secure enclosure, a cardboard box wrapped in bungee cords, and secured them to the floor. I did some testing with Quantum positive and negative materials, and the general consensus is that if you put the item in a box, it doesn’t matter which state it’s in. It’s like Scrodigeners cat, but backwards.
Talks will be had tomorrow. For today, I’m going to work off the cinnamon mall pretzels I ate.
Pleasant day,

Gearing up, day 2
The headset was successfully extracted, and a quick check shows that the VM is still functioning. Beta is still linked to it somehow, which addresses a problem I didn’t think of earlier. Input is possible from Beta, and they’re able to send me messages via it. Later on I’ll look into attaching a keyboard to this, but Beta works for now.
The Rune Circles came in, and testing revealed that they were mostly ineffective. Only two really worked, one combined with the Soothe spell, and one combined with the Stasis spell. Touching the Stasis Circle apperantly froze me for 5 minutes while the others had to figure out how to remove the circle from me.
I also had an idea for something cool I could make. Since height is a metric within the GPV, freezing that Value would cause an object to not experience gravity. My idea was to apply that to allow me to walk “on air”. In reality I would be walking on transparent planes made out of a pair of Default Cubes.
Spawning the cubes was easy, during the great Drone works I found several useful materials. I chose something I believe was some form of hardend light, or at least meant to mimic it. Figuring out a good trigger for the Cubes to teleport in was less simple. We went through several possibilities, until we settled on attaching some small microchips to the back of the shoes and basing the GPV coordinates off of those.
I added a walking and a running mode to them, s well as a “manual” mode that let me spawn the under my feet at a press. These modes were linked to an old car key fob I relabeled. After a lot of bug testing, I managed to get something halfway decent! I’ll likely improve the design later on, but it works well enough for now. I plan on heading after Gamma tomorrow.
