The Arrangement of Flowers
Fandom: BTS
Rating: Teen
Pairing/s: Kim Seokjin/Min Yoongi
Character/s: Kim Seokjin, Min Yoongi, Jeon Jungkook is mentioned and in a flashback, Park Jimin, Kim Taehyung, Jung Hoseok
Tag/s: Hanahaki Disease, Flower Shop AU, Hurt/Comfort, Angst, Fluff, Strangers to Friends to ???
Words: 17,227
Status: On-going
Chapters: 3/5
Summary: Seokjin is a florist and Yoongi is the man who's been eyeing the roses for about fifteen minutes.
---
The man in his store has been eyeing the roses for about fifteen minutes.
Seokjin always made it a point to approach costumers as soon as he noticed that they were having a hard time with selecting their purchase. It might seem surprising but most people really don’t know anything about flowers. They usually come in his quaint little shop, peruse his pre-made bouquets, pick out something they think they like, put it back, pick it up again, put it back, look at a different arrangement, hover around that other arrangement, go back to the first one, pick it up again, go back to the other arrangement, and that’s when he’d butt in and ask what they needed.
It’s always the same things. After five years of running the shop, he’s narrowed them down to ‘something that I could offer on my grandparent/s’ or parent/s’ grave’, ‘something that I could give to my mom’, ‘something that would make this girl/guy like me’, and ‘something that can help my partner forgive me.’ He usually hits the nail on the head with what type of arrangement they were looking for. It all comes down to what type of flowers they were eyeing and whether they were old or young. Of course, there would be exceptions but it’s not like he plays the guessing game all the time. Ultimately, he just wants whoever comes into his shop to find the arrangement that they need and to leave satisfied with their choice.
Seokjin’s never been picky with customers. He welcomes everyone and anyone who might be interested in using the language of flowers to aid them in what they want to say. He’s accommodated sweet grandmothers, pretentious teenage boys, giggly teenage girls, surly middle-aged men, nervous twenty-year old somethings; you name it, he’s handled it. He’s even assisted people who came in looking exactly like the man who’s been in front of the roses for twenty minutes now, clad entirely in black with matching dad cap and face mask. He knows that the man is most likely looking for something to confess his feelings with and that he would end up settling for the cheapest bouquet among the bunch, not because he was stingy but because he wouldn’t want to invest too much in something that had a 50-50 success rate.
Seokjin knows that he should approach the guy already, should have approached him ten minutes ago. He isn’t busy. He’s not accommodating anyone else. There is literally no other person besides the man in his shop with him right now. He knows he’s providing really bad customer service and he’s probably going to kick himself later if the man leaves without buying anything. (A single customer is still profit.) But the man was not only eyeing the roses; he had been glaring at them for the past twenty-three minutes like they had done something that violated his basic human rights. He’s never met a customer that exuded such hatred towards his charges; he doesn’t know whether to feel afraid or personally offended for the flowers himself.
He contemplates closing up the shop early because this man is not going anywhere. No one stands in front of a display for twenty-five minutes with the intention of just window shopping. Sure, he’s personally never allowed any potential customers to stand in front of displays for that long but other potential customers don’t look at goods they intend to buy like they’ll end up ripping them to shreds after they buy them.
Seokjin steels himself. He’s aware that he’s judging the man before he even got to know him. As much as he takes prides in being an open-minded person and in never judging a book by its cover, he isn’t doing a very good job with that, is he? With a sigh, he leaves his safe space behind the counter and walks towards the man bracing himself for god knows—he doesn’t even know why he is bracing himself. Don’t be such a dick, Seokjin. He puts on his most sincere smile and says to the man, “Hello there! How can I help you?”

or
Yoongi’s grandson is very perceptive for a five-year-old and they go to the sea to send a message to someone special.
---
The bed creaks as he sits up from it.
His eyes shift to the digital on his nightstand. 4:00 AM on the dot as always, he reads with a sigh. It’s not that he’s disappointed exactly. But, when he was younger, he always thought that old age meant his body clock will start telling him to wake up later in the day, preferably during the hours where the sun is at a point in the sky where its light would softly filter through the curtains on his window to gently rouse him from his sleep. He could not have been more wrong though, seeing as how the opposite is what is true; the digital on his nightstand keeps counting down lower and lower every decade his age just climbs higher and higher. So much for spending his golden years living the dream.
Slowly, he pushes himself off of his bed, his joints now the ones creaking but he’s used to it. Being in his late seventies, it’s kind of a given. It used to hurt before, the first couple of times it happened around the time he turned 65. (But let’s be honest, his joints have been creaking like an old man’s since he was 23.) His husband never gave him the chance to complain about it, whining constantly about his own back pains and telling him that he has more right to do so being the older of the two of them.
Being in a relationship with his husband for forty plus years (at the time) should have given him enough prerogative to point out that they were born only three months apart. But it’s always a touchy subject when Seokjin uses it to his advantage. Meaning, if Yoongi wants cuddles before they sleep that night then he will let Seokjin use the hyung card as he pleases. Not that he minds it that much, really. His husband gives the best cuddles and you can fight him on this.
He shuffles his way outside his bedroom, the silence of the early morning accompanying him like a serene soundtrack which he’s grown to appreciate over the years. He’s always been comfortable with silence but when you reach that certain stage in life where you tend to look back on all the things that you did or didn’t do, silence could be a little overbearing especially if you feel like you have more regrets weighing you down than accomplishments holding you up. Thankfully, he doesn’t have that many. Or he’s grown soft that he’s come to accept his failures as lessons learned. Either way, his husband would tell him he’s sugarcoating it.
He reaches the top of the stairs at the end of the hallway, eventually, but the walk down the stairs will also take him excruciatingly longer than before. With the sun not even close to breaking dawn, the trip is a lot darker so he has to be careful with his footing. The light above the staircase has yet to be replaced by Taehyung who said that he’ll get to it as soon as it’s possible for them to visit him. Knowing his son, however, he’ll be expecting that visit to happen around mid-morning later. Holding onto the railing, he goes down the stairs one step at a time.

If It’s Love, I Will Love You
Fandom: BTS
Rating: Teen
Pairing/s: Kim Seokjin/Min Yoongi
Character/s: Kim Seokjin, Min Yoongi, Jeon Jungkook, Kim Namjoon, Park Jimin, Jung Hoseok, Kim Taehyung, other k-pop people make cameos
Tag/s: Modern Eros and Psyche au, Soulmates, Strangers to Friends to Lovers, Star-crossed, Slow Build, Attempt at Humor, Fluff, Light Angst
Words: 4878
Status: On-going
Chapters: 2/?
Summary: God of love, Seokjin, finds a peculiarity in Min Yoongi who glows golden every time he looks at him. Urged by one of the Fates to shoot the mortal with an arrow, he's surprised to find it lodged not in Yoongi's chest but instead through his own.
---
Seokjin usually starts his days like this: wake up at exactly 8:40 sharp, sit groggily for about five to ten minutes (depends if he had a late night or not) before yawning and/or rubbing his eyes and getting off his bed; walk to the kitchen, pause, kick Jungkook’s bedroom door, and continue walking to the kitchen; get to the kitchen, blink at every appliance they have before approaching the fridge and changing his mind, opening the cupboard instead; take out a half-consumed packaged loaf of bread from Paris Baguette and Jungkook’s disgusting chocolate cereal–which is more sugar than cereal, let’s be real here–and backtrack to the fridge; grab the jar of strawberry jam and a carton of milk, shake it to see if he can pour himself a glass and still have enough for Jungkook’s “cereal”; get a bowl and a glass (if they have enough milk), fish out a couple of spoons, and jump at the sight of Jungkook squinting in front of the kitchen counter, the other clad in his favorite black pajama set (complete with a fuzzy black blanket draped over his shoulders) and emitting a dark energy despite the bright morning sunlight casting a halo over him through their kitchen window; shake his head, tell Jungkook to “turn off the god of death aura, please”, bring their breakfast to the dining table with Jungkook’s help (his aura turned off for the time being), and eat in silence.
That’s been his routine for about a year now since Jungkook got kicked out of his old apartment by his roommate.
(“Hoseok finally got tired of your shtick?” he asked, leaving the door open for Jungkook to enter and drag his belongings behind him.
(“I told him he would but you know how he’s always willing to try for the sake of trying.” Jungkook hefted his bags inside before taking off his shoes. “It’s that sunny demeanor of his, causes him to be more positive than is good for him.”
(“Well, we can’t really fault him for that. He is the sun god after all.”)
Now, Seokjin’s never been a man of habit. He likes to be sporadic, spontaneous. Being the god of love, it kind of warrants it since love is unpredictable at best. But he likes his mornings the way they are. It gives him a semblance of peace to his otherwise tumultuous way of living. He needs it–no, he thrives because of it.
So, standing on the streets of Hongdae at ass o’clock in the middle of winter–of all seasons!–is already doing wonders to his complexion, sarcasm intended.

Perfect
Fandom: BTS
Rating: Teen
Pairing/s:  Kim Seokjin/Min Yoongi
Character/s: Kim Seokjin, Min Yoongi, Park Jimin, Kim Taehyung, Namseok have a no line cameo
Tag/s: Weddings, Wedding Planning, Established Relationship, Hurt/Comfort, Light Angst
Words: 5026
Status: Complete
Chapters: 1/1
Summary: Planning his own wedding was never part of the plan--was never a part of his plan--and he and Yoongi did intend to hire someone else to do the planning for them at first. But being an A-list event planner who’s getting married to one of the most famous producers in South Korea, everyone just assumed he’d be in charge because--well, it’s his and Yoongi’s wedding. Why trust someone else to do the one thing he’s considered one of the best at? So, he takes on the challenge. But as problems pile on left and right before the ceremony, he thinks that maybe he’s not so cut out for the job after all.
Yoongi, on the other hand, has other ideas.
---
Simply put, everything is turning out to be a disaster.
For one thing, the weather forecast last night said that the skies would be a clear and bright baby blue all over Seoul with a 0% chance of precipitation. But the moment they stepped onto the venue, it turned a complete 180, thunder theatrically crackling in the distance and a seemingly endless fleet of gray clouds rushing in to pour cold, wet rain on their outdoor set-up like an omen he shouldn't ignore. Thankfully, the hotel allowed them to use one of their indoor halls instead since it hadn’t been reserved that day and was completely free for them to use, no extra charge.
He remembers saying “thank you very much” a lot and bowing like a million times because in his eight years as an event planner, something this big of a complication rarely gets resolved so quickly and easily. But then again, maybe he had been too complacent about the entire thing cause after that, things just went downhill faster than he can say “I do.”
Left and right, his staff has been reporting to him all the things that are falling apart and are about to fall apart. From a significant number of guests (including his and Yoongi’s respective families) getting lost and mistakenly going to the other branch of the hotel on the other side of the city, to the throng of journalists that somehow snuck into the hotel for whatever reason he still can’t comprehend because they literally announced to the entire country on national television that their wedding will be a private event reserved only for a select group of family, friends, and colleagues.
(“Nosy people will continue to stay nosy, I guess,” Yoongi comments nonchalantly as he scrolls through his phone with one hand while his hair is being styled.)
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Don’t even get him started on the mix-up with the catering and the open bar. He’s honestly beginning to second guess his abilities as a planner now because of all the events he can majorly fuck up in, it’s his own goddamn wedding.

Fandom: BTS
Rating: Teen
Pairing/s: Kim Seokjin/Min Yoongi
Character/s: Kim Seokjin, Min Yoongi, Kim Namjoon, Jung Hoseok, Park Jimin, Kim Taehyung, Jeon Jungkook, Odeng, Eomuk
Tag/s: Canon Compliant, Established Relationship, Light Angst, Fluff
Words: 6,012
Status: Complete
Chapters: 2/2
Summary: Seokjin broke the news to him last night.
---
The music starts playing and the curtains open to reveal the audience on the other side. Everyone starts singing and Yoongi does his best to smile.
He does not know all the lyrics to ‘Music Is My Life’ and he did not make it a point to know since he isn’t going to have a solo part in it anyway. That went to their vocal line sans Seokjin. Seokjin who is standing right next to him while at the same time not really next to him next to him. There is a good six inches between them partly because Seokjin is going to have to move quickly after the song ends to reach his appointed spot on the stage- being a quarter of the MC line for the first half of the night- but mostly because Yoongi cannot bear to be so close to him, or rather, too close to him lest he lose it altogether.
He is a man who is a master of his emotions, if emotions are meant to be bottled up and stored away, never allowed to see the light of day until things are too late and everything is a cacophony of infinite proportions. He wonders how in the hell he survived life for as long as he did. He does not ponder further because the camera is on them now and he has to remember to look like he isn’t being troubled by anything, especially not something that is related to the one person who is literally beside him. He ignores the constant side glances that said person is throwing at him.
Taehyung, Jungkook, and Jimin sing their part. He shakes his head with the beat, smiles a little like he’s having the time of his life. He turns to the screen, tapping his foot to the rhythm and to the restlessness that came with being the center of attention. He puts his microphone to his lips when the camera pans out to all of the artists on the stage and he silently releases the breath he didn’t realize he’d been holding.
He continues the charade, reading/singing the lyrics on the teleprompter. He nudges Namjoon and laughs, a show to whoever in the audience (his stans mostly) might have their eyes trained on him. Only the bridge and the final chorus were left of the song; he thinks he can actually pull this off. He does not notice Seokjin put his hand in his pocket like he was checking something and take it back out when he is sure that that something is still there. He fails to observe Seokjin stand straighter and tighten his hold on the cue cards. He disregards the tingling in his hand, fighting the urge to put it on the back of Seokjin’s neck and rub circles with his thumb to assure him that he will do great. He misses when the song ends and puts his microphone down a beat late.
Seokjin looks at him then, an expectant look on his face. Yoongi knows what he’s asking for. They’ve done it so many times and he desperately wants to give it to him but he’s stubborn so he doesn’t, and Seokjin’s face goes blank but only after it becomes disappointed. The hand he had out for Yoongi to squeeze drops to his side as he schools his features into something more charismatic, more appealing to the masses. The lights on the stage dim and Seokjin turns to leave. Yoongi swallows the regret that is pushing his voice to call out for Seokjin. He does not say anything. Seokjin does not turn back.

Every Flame As Bright As You
Fandom: BTS
Rating: Teen
Pairing/s: Kim Seokjin/Min Yoongi
Character/s: Kim Seokjin, Min Yoongi, will add other characters if they appear
Tag/s: Drabbles, Drabble Collection, tags vary per drabble
Words: 1,708
Status: On-going
Chapters: 3/?
Summary:  A series of drabbles about Seokjin and Yoongi. Each one is inspired by a song. Lezgetit.
---
1. Like My Heart Is Falling (I.L.Y. by The Rose)
Seokjin had always known that Yoongi was bound to leave him. He just thought that it would happen later than sooner.
“Aren’t you going to ask me to stay?”
Yoongi stands at the doorway, his backpack slung over his shoulder and his face turned away from Seokjin.
Seokjin stares at him from the bed, the blankets only covering his bottom half so his torso is cold. But maybe it isn’t the only reason.
“I don’t want to hold you back.”
“You’re not.” Yoongi faces him, lips pressed into a tight line. “Just tell me you want me to stay and I will.”
---
2. Tell Me, Why Not? (Waste It On Me by Steve Aoki ft BTS)
Yoongi wraps the tape across the box, sealing its flaps shut and effectively securing the contents inside.
“Is that the last one?” Namjoon asks him from the doorway.
“Yeah,” he replies, brushing off the non-existent dust on top of the box before lifting it off the floor and passing it to the younger.
“There’s nothing important and breakable in this right?”
“You’re good, Joon.”
“Okay. ‘Cause we both don’t want a whole repeat of the snow globe fiasco. I keep finding glitters around the apartment and I didn’t even drop them inside.”
Namjoon leaves with the box and its just Yoongi alone in his now empty room. When he officially leaves with the movers, it would go back to being Namjoon and Hoseok’s spare guest bedroom.
---
3. If We Didn’t Love Each Other ( Trivia 轉: Seesaw by BTS)
“It's better for us.”
That's what they agreed upon when he and Yoongi decided to part ways.
The younger had his belongings outside the door, memories and souvenirs from their 3 years together packed into one suitcase.
“Take care on your way there,” he tells Yoongi.
“Don't forget to lock the door,” Yoongi reminds him.

If Love And Hate Are The Same Words
Fandom: BTS
Rating: Teen
Pairing/s: Kim Seokjin/Min Yoongi, Kim Namjoon/Park Jimin, Jung Hoseok/Kim Taehyung, Boo Seungkwan/Chwe Hansol
Character/s: Kim Seokjin, Min Yoongi, Kim Namjoon, Park Jimin, Jung Hoseok, Kim Taehyung, Jeon Jungkook, Boo Seungkwan, Chwe Hansol (mentioned)
Tag/s: Time Travel, Post-Break Up, Getting Back Together, Aged-Up Characters, Angst with a Happy Ending, Fluff
Words: 36,054
Status: Complete
Chapters: 1/1
Summary:  On his 55th birthday, Kim Seokjin, also known in his neighborhood as “insufferable old Kim”, makes a wish to feel genuine happiness. The next day he wakes up 22 years old again and on the day he first meets his ex-boyfriend, Min Yoongi.
---
Seokjin knows he’s not everyone’s favorite old person. He’s grumpy, he starts fights, he complains a lot. Basically, he’s not a fun person to be around. But his dishes are inarguably the best in the block, so he can do whatever he wants no matter what anyone thinks.
His younger brother, Namjoon, disagrees.
“It’s my birthday, Joon-ah. Can’t you just drop it? For my special day?”
“Hyung, you twisted Mr. Kang’s arm behind his back and screamed that you won’t let go until he, and I quote, ‘take back the shit you said about my restaurant’s décor, you little bitch’."
"In my defense, he’s always been a little—"
"Don’t finish that statement."
Namjoon rubs at his temples and releases a deep sigh. "Hyung, you're 55. Aren't you tired of being like this?"
"And what exactly is THIS Namjoon? An embarrassment to the family, a burden?"
"Sad," his youngest brother, Taehyung interjects. "You're sad, hyung. And angry."
"You too, Tae?"
"Hyung, you know we love you," Jimin pouts at him.
"We just want you to be happy," Hoseok adds.
"It's my birthday and everyone's ganging up on me. Of fucking course."
"Hyung," Namjoon starts again. "This isn't you. Despite the reputation you've built for yourself, we know that you're still the same selfless and loving hyung. Why don't you just move on?"
"Move on? You don't think I've tried to move on? You're not the one who had your heart ripped out of your chest and stepped on. I gave him everything I had but he threw it all away for his stupid career. He even had the gall to use the song. The song he said was only for me—for us. He used me, Namjoon. Don't I have the right to be angry? Don't I have the right to feel pain?"
"It's been 32 years! Time itself has moved on without you. You're getting angry at a world that had nothing to do with your pain!"
"Well, maybe I want it to feel my pain! Maybe I want it to suffer like I did. He got everything he wanted. He's a hotshot CEO now and I'm still just me. Why does he get to be happy when he hurt others to get there?"

Basketball captain, Min Yoongi, attempts to confess his feelings to Swimming captain, Kim Seokjin.
---
Yoongi is nervous.
Okay, he is ready to jump out of his skin but that’s only because the letter in his hand not only contains the essence of his human soul (a.k.a. his entire being) but it also details to one Kim Seokjin how he kinda, maybe, somewhat, definitely, certainly, absolutely has feelings for him. The romantic kind.
It is a confession letter. He, Min Yoongi, captain of the basketball team and the occasional representation of panic in human form, is finally going to confess to Kim Seokjin, captain of the swimming team, student council president, and overall perfect human being, after three years of pining and numerous failed attempts at initiating a conversation beyond “hi”, “hello”, and “good luck at the meet”.
(Yoongi wants to disappear every time he remembers the last one. But Seokjin smiled at him and replied with a small “thanks” before leaving to join his teammates. He has that memory burned permanently into the recesses of his brain and takes it out every so often if just to remind himself that Seokjin smiled. At him. And even said thanks.)
(It doesn’t take much to make him happy, honestly. He thinks it’s kind of sad. Namjoon agrees but Yoongi didn’t ask for his opinion so fuck him.)

Words: 772

Summary:  The world didn’t stop turning for anyone. Tadashi knew that. But at that moment, he just wished it would for him.
---
He laid blinking at the darkness of his best friend’s room. Said best friend was lightly snoring right beside him, his arm wrapped around his bare waist. Even in the dark, Kei’s pale skin glowed as if it had the ability to emit its own light. It was mesmerizing, as if he was staring right up at the moon.
Tadashi ran his hand along Kei’s elbow to his fingertips, relishing the fact that those same hands were on him not too long ago, cupping his face, grasping his hips, sliding down his back, carding through his hair. He shuddered under the touch that was so gentle yet so intense at the same time. Tadashi hadn’t expected the night to turn out like this. He didn’t regret it either.
He carefully turned on his side, facing Kei’s sleeping form. The other boy had his mouth slightly ajar, which Tadashi found cute. He reached his hand out and touched Kei’s cheek. He always thought that the blonde looked the most peaceful when he was dreaming. He never said it out loud but he liked to think that he looked like that because he was dreaming of him.

“Hey, Tsukki.”
“Yeah, Yamaguchi?”
“I’m probably never gonna end up with you, aren’t I?”
Ten words.
Yamaguchi said a total of ten words and Kei didn’t know what to do with them. He could have asked Yamaguchi, “What makes you say that?” Five words. And maybe Yamaguchi could have told him that he wasn’t sure Kei would like him back, or that he thought Kei wasn’t into kissing other boys. Kei could have gone for the kill and kissed Yamaguchi on the lips so hard that he’d never doubt, even for one second, that Kei does like him back and has thought of kissing other boys except, all those other boys had always been him. Kei could’ve told him, “No. You could totally end up with me. If that’s what you want. Because it’s also what I want, Yamaguchi. You’re so brave for being able to say it, all of the things I’m not.”
But Kei never did any of those things. He could have but he didn’t.

You call it romance
Fandom: Haikyuu!!
Rating: General
Pairing/s: Tsukishima Kei/Yamaguchi Tadashi
Character/s: Tsukishima Kei, Yamaguchi Tadashi
Tag/s: Canon Compliant, Fluff, Established Relationship
Words: 2,148
Status: Complete
Chapters: 1/1
Summary:  Tadashi liked to think that he wasn't the type to get jealous easily. But with Tsukki's phone buzzing non-stop and Tsukki himself smiling at the texts like how he smiles only at Tadashi, he doubts himself. He liked to believe that jealousy was pretty normal in a relationship but to be jealous over such a simple exchange, did it even matter?
---
Tadashi liked to take pride in how he wasn't the extremely jealous type. He believed that just the right amount of jealousy was necesary in any relationship but being jealous to the point of being overly possesive was unhealthy. He doesn't get jealous whenever girls would come up to him and ask where Tsukishima-kun was because they wanted to talk to him about something. That something was, 99% of the time, their feelings towards his favorite blonde. Tadashi isn't fazed with giving them directions since he was 100% sure that they were always unrequited anyway. He knows this because his own feelings toward Tsukki were 110% requited. The extra 10% being a reassurance that Tsukki, his Tsukki, only had eyes for him and will not be going anywhere. But, even if he didn't feel jealous, he still felt a little guilty given the circumstances.
He and Tsukki decided early on that their relationship would be kept hush-hush. Not necessarily a secret because he wouldn't deny it if anyone asked (Tsukki said he wouldn't either) but so far no one has bothered to inquire and it doesn't seem as if anyone would in the near future. However, seeing those girls off knowing that they'll get rejected was a bit heartless on his part, and on Tsukki to a certain extent since he doesn't really hold back on the rejecting bit. But Tadashi knows it is how it is. He likes to compensate by going to the shrine every Saturday and praying for those girls to find their perfect match eventually. It helps him sleep at night.
In retrospect, there weren't really many reasons that could make Tadashi jealous over Tsukki. He knows for a fact- and Tsukki himself particularly liked to prove it with kisses and the occasional hickey- that his boyfriend loves him very much and would actually roll his eyes before Tadashi could even finish the thought. Jealousy was not an emotion to be entertained at all. Period. Tsukki would argue that it was absurd and you're overthinking, Tadashi. Tsukki reserved calling Tadashi by his first name when he thinks the situation is a very very important matter and should not be taken lightly. These situations usually end in cuddles and with kisses that were short but sweet. Tadashi liked them very very much.

When Kei turned eight, he made a wish. Well, three to be more exact. He wished for a friend, that his family would be safe and happy, and that he would be getting strawberry shortcake for his birthday every year until he died. He closed his eyes so tightly that they hurt but that didn’t matter if his wish(es) was(were) going to come true. He then took a deep breath and blew at the candles. There was a distinct clicking of a camera and he opened his eyes to see his mother and brother clapping their hands like he had just done the greatest magic trick. It’s just as well, he supposed. Even though he never said his wish out loud- heaven forbid you don’t want your wish to come true- he knew that his family knew what he had just done. And even if he was no magician, birthday candles were magic. That’s also a good enough reason to celebrate.
Kei wasn’t superstitious per se. He didn’t believe in how stepping on a crack will break your mother’s back or how breaking a mirror will give you seven years of bad luck. That’s just dumb. He and his brother had stepped on cracks multiple times without thinking about it and, every time Kei rushed home in worry, his mother was perfectly fine. And how did they know that you’ll get exactly seven years of bad luck? Why does it have to be seven? Can’t it be six or eight or fifty? It just doesn’t add up, in his honest opinion. However, Kei liked to believe that wishes on a shooting star do come true just like how wishes on birthday candles do. He would never admit it but he would have an alarm set at 11:07pm so that he could have ample time to come up with a wish before 11:11pm rolled around. He would cross his fingers when he wanted something to happen really badly. He used to hunt for four-leafed clovers before Akiteru would have a match so that he could give it to him for extra luck.
When Kei saw Tadashi for the first time, he had just come from a four-leafed clover hunting spree. He wasn’t successful this time around and was about to mope about it when he heard laughter directed at someone and not in a good way. Kei didn’t like bullies. He never understood why they would use the free time they had to jeer at and bring someone down. It was pathetic and not productive at all. Tadashi was their victim this time. Kei recognized the bullies; they were in his grade. But the kid they were forcing to carry their bags wasn’t someone he had met before. He knew because no one else had freckles as prominent as Tadashi had. Kei liked Tadashi's freckles. They reminded him of the stars. He didn't think too much about what he had done at first. He just thought that it was the right thing to do and his family always told him to do the right thing. Besides, he was the tallest in his year. Nobody would dare to cross him.
