I just got this random realization that I have had this blog for over a year now, and just wow. (I mean yes, I have been on multiple hiatuses from both here and from discord- namely I am on one now, I am not writing at all atm, because in multiple ways real life is just an absolute priority now) But, even so, I just wanted to say I have always appreciated everyone I've ever written with on here, and I am grateful for it. I am sorry I haven't been in touch with anyone really lately, but it's just something I've needed and I need rn. Thank you for your understanding, and for sticking around kinda. Love you all. -Mel

yor-soverenyi:-
Why was he so eager for her to be like him? She cannot see how his lips press tight at that playful little comment. Because he was tired of always being alone. Nor did he want her to have the suffer the same fate. He flicks a glance to her at the fountain when she mentions the need to clear her mind Whatever was holding her back he had every intent of finding out and shattering it though he was soon distracted by her taking note of Ravka’s history. “The Black Heretic?” He lifts a brow, says it bold. “You can say it. I’ve heard it all by now, taken on the blame for what he has done.” He waves his hand in gesture across the fountain.
“That is why we will undo what my ancestor brought upon us, and give them a reason to no longer fear us.” His fingers tap against the stone and he breathes out a laugh at her disbelief. “I promise you it’s entirely true. Where I am at now? What I can do, that is years of practice and knowing oneself. Once you know yourself Alina, it will all come easier to you” He was admiring the way she studied her reflection in the water, that when she turned their eyes had met.
She flushed and he fell silent, unable to look away yet when she turns her gaze back to the water he exhales softly and glances aside as well. “You have no idea what it was like.” He says slowly, but the tale of his childhood was not something that he wanted to delve into at this moment. “I can only make sure that your acquaintance of being Grisha is not as difficult as mine was.” He stills himself as her hand seeks his arm, that gentle grip along with her next words has him swallowing hard.
He didnt have to be alone either. “That means…a lot… to hear from you, Alina.” He says slowly. “You are the one ray of hope that I have seen in a long time.” A light in his never ending darkness and oh, how he had missed that light. He recollects himself with a sudden breath and offers her a nod. “You are no longer an Orphan, your home is here now. Let go of what is holding you back and realize who you truly are.” He carefully slides his arm out from under her hand and smooths down the front of his Kefta, pacing around the edge of the fountain.
“I want you to feel free to come here whenever you would like. Whenever you need.” It was the only spot that could ease his own mind when he needed to get away from the Little Palace. “And if there is ever anything that you need. Tell me.” He found himself gazing across at her once more, unable to control it as if a moth drawn to the light. “Perhaps we should get you back soon.” He says while glancing down.

He seemed to be open to talk about those darker parts of his family history, and Alina could not help but appreciate that a man such as him would open up to someone like her. She moved a bit closer and smiled supportively, “It isn’t your fault. People are unreasonable if they blame you for it just because you share the same power.” Alina hated bullies to the core. Mal and her had met their fair share back in the orphanage.
“I will help you. The burden of it must be so unbearable, but I will carry it with you.” She spoke, genuinely. Her empathy warm, like the light of her power. She shook her head as he reassured her she would learn to control her abilities as he had. “I don’t know, I feel that Baghra is just more and more disappointed with me day after day. Maybe you can help me train.” She asked, somewhat shyly, looking at him. “She said you can amplify other grisha powers. I don’t know if that could help me… get to know myself as you put it. ”
Alina saw his hesitance, the way he looked away, “You did.” She assured him, “I mean, I did think you cold and strict that first few times we spoke, but I understand, you’re our leader you have to maintain that façade, and especially fallowing the Fjerdan attack on the way to the palace.” She shivered a bit at the memory of how close she had come to death, and how that would have been the case if not for him. “I know now there is more to you, and the way you are is just a reflections of strength.”
His admitting that her words touched him had the girl smiling, as if she was still an easily impressible adolescent, though she tried to disguise it, along side the way her heart skipped a beat at the hearing of how her name rang on his lips. “It’s an honor to hear someone like you say that. I.. I never thought of myself as anyone special. Anyone at all really, let alone being someone’s hope.” He was right though, they, together, were now the hope for Ravka. When he called the Little Palace her home now though, she stilled. In many ways it did feel like home, if only she still had her best friend with her too. No, she turned her head away, so that he didn’t see the hurt on her face. Mal had forgotten about her, and she would try and do the same, “I am not sure… not sure I ever had a home before.” Her voice cracked a bit, and she bit tears back, though she really did not want to fall apart in front of him.
Trying to compose herself as he moved away, she quickly wiped a single tear off her cheek with the sleeve of her kefta, and forcing a smile turned back to him. “Yeah.. yeah we probably should.” Her tone still gave her sadness away, and perhaps her wish to stay alone with him, away from others, longer.

"I’m not afraid to die, Alina,“ he said in that cold, steady, voice that seemed so alien to me. “But I’d like to give us a fighting chance. We have to go after the stag. “ written by sydney.

Her heart sank into her shoes
as she realized at last
how much she wanted him.
No matter what his past was, no matter what he had done.
Which was not to say that she would ever let him know,
but only that he moved her chemically
more than anyone she had ever met,
that all other men seemed pale beside him.
F. Scott Fitzgerald
