humans are not invasive; we deserve to live and develop on this planet. the only stipulation is that we have to help nature do its thing in turn. plant some native veggies, forage invasive ones like crazy and cook them up!!, rescue worms from the driveway when it rains

If, for whatever reason you cant rip out your lawn, there are still some things you can do to minimise the damage:

If you’re cutting it, leave the Edges, particularly near walls and fences, as habitat for insects.

Alternatively, only rip out the edges and replace with native flowers or a hedge - though you’ll have to do maintainence.

Scare off wildlife before you work on any landscaping - making some noise and rustling/rummaging around where you’ll be working gives critters a chance to find a new safe hiding spot.

Designate a small area to leave the hell alone - inspect for invasives, and clean up, but otherwise, just allow it to be, and dont let humans too close.

LOG PILE! A pile of sticks, leaves and trimmings is a wonderful habitat, especially during winters.

Seasonal mowing/weeding - Decide based on when you use your lawn, but some ecologists recommend mowing in late spring (assuming you’re northern hemisphere / using the lawn in summer) which allows bees time to establish themselves in the early year.

Encourage clover and other ground plants - this depends on your area but clover can be established with seed and is encouraged with shade. These plants are much friendlier to bees and retain moisture much better than grass.

Be kind to your soil! If you have any beds, make sure to feed them.

Understand how rain and weather are effecting your garden - figure out which direction water runs, and whether you need extra drainage or retainage.

So I'm very traditionally religious. I know a lot of people don't agree with my beliefs, and that's ok, because everyone has a right to their own beliefs and faith. But for me, my faith gives me hope. I have hope that I am free from the weight of my past mistakes, and it gives me hope that my actions can help others have that same freedom. My faith leads me to the belief that I am not an insignificant accident of nature scrabbling for a sense of purpose, but I am an intentionally created being whose value comes from something bigger than me, and nothing I can do can diminish that value. I was created to be a force for good in this world. Through my faith I have a family that is bigger and stronger than any "blood" family. We are connected through love and unity of spirit. These things have gotten me through some very bad times in my life. Times when I hated myself, times when I wanted to hurt myself (and did in some ways). But I don't have the pressure of being a rock of security and happiness, because I believe God is a stronger rock than I can ever be, and he doesn't have bad days. And I know what God has done for me, and what the stakes are. These things keep me going and keep me smiling through the rough times

what inspires you? what keeps you going? what have you found to be your ‘purpose’? or what have you realised when trying to find your purpose?

please respond! not only for me but for all the other people that may follow me who are desperately trying to find their inspiration, motive, purpose or direction in life! hopefully it’ll give some hope/closure for someone out there who may be struggling or maybe looking in the wrong places?
